i think i've said it before in here, but i always felt that each 343 halo game felt like it was made by a totally different studio (and not necessarily in a good way). each iteration was like a soft reboot of the gameplay, mechanics, leveling system, armor system, etc and it just felt like there was no continuity of thought

It's never as easy as just "listening to community feedback" and adding features.

First need to filter out what's being requested and look at conflicting requests - there may be people for it, but also people against it.
Resourcing - X, Y and Z features all need dev resource, but they can't all be worked on at the same time. Need to prioritize.
Same with bug fixes, sometimes bugs (if minor) just need to sit and wait for resource to pick them up.
Can't always throw more people at something either

I tend to think of "Supersoldier goes rogue!" tropes in franchises like Halo as the franchise jumping the shark.

I hated it when two IVs did it, but they at least had more understandable reasons (Anger over allying with aliens, fighting humans bad).

Err, short answer; When the Mantle's Approach exploded in 4, she was dragged with its ruined hulk to Genesis, which doubled as a repair and refit yard for Forerunner ships. When she went there, she basically got dragged into the Domain and was given/stole/found the keys to the Domain through the Warden Eternal.

For Ghost Recon, it's mowing down hordes of faceless goons with the same cloaking tech you have.

• Ownership of pretty much the entirety of the UNSC's industrial capacity

• Overruling of UEG Governance
• Ownership of the UEG's industrial capacity

And we know they are

• Producing their own MJOLNIR variants
• Producing their own anti-UNSC-comm countermeasures constantly enough that UNSC tech can become outdated in weeks
• Using Created forces that got left behind to bolster their numbers/offload their minds into
• Starting to create knockoff Spartans

Personally, I think a more horror-esque element of the Prometheans could be gleaned from Guardian pulses.

So the end of Halo 5, where Locke and the other IVs were blacking out due to Guardian pulses? That was basically the Guardian's EMPs impedeing electrical connections in their brains.

So combine blacking out with being trapped on a failing, powerless UNSC ship while Created constructs take your silence as noncompliance and kill the entire crew? Sounds scary.

it was largely the same plan, the difference being Thanos arbitrarily wiped people out, where as Cortana's plan was to only wipe out anyone that stood against her. in both plans you would have a population that remembered the horror of the killing and seek to reverse that. Cortana was betting that people would forgive her after seeing how peaceful/great things would be in the long run, but there's no indication that would be the case (imo)

"Largely the same" implies that they were even close to being the same.

The only real similarities they had were 'atrocities in the name of good ends', but beyond that, Thanos' plan was actually absolutely terrible. Cortana's actually had a better chance of success given time, and wasn't immediately catastrophic or awful on paper.

Thanos had absolutely zero game plan once he snapped. None. He literally retired to a backwater as a crippled farmer and accepted his death, while ensuring nobody could follow up on his act.
