BTB is so unbalanced atm, anyone else finding this? Since the new maps have been released I've gone from like 20+ kill games to getting absolutely torn apart in every lobby. sbmm by nature wants to make every match as evenly balanced as it can. i don't feel there's enough variability with the current system. i don't feel like i'm the outlier here, but my experience has been that it pairs me with teammates "it" thinks will play at a certain level (and they don't) or "it" misjudges my own skill level and expects me to carry

In a 4v4 playlist, the matchmaker will look at the combined total skill rating of all 4 players on a team and compare it with all 4 players on the other team and get them as close as possible within a certain range. It doesn't make sure they are exact same. It purposefully allows for variability so that you can get games where one side is expected to win, which allows for adjustments to be made to skill ratings. It just makes sure the variance is small enough so that the odds aren't stacked.

In ranked, the matchmaker doesn't allow people outside of certain skill ranges to match with each other. In social, it allows pretty much any skill rating difference to match up. You could actually get the best and worst player in the game matched on the same team in social.

Continuing off this. With SBMM, those players would likely end up facing a team of average skill, which would be more or less a fair match, but it can get tricky with outliers. It probably would lean towards one side.
Without SBMM, there's a good chance the bad player won't have any good teammates. and the good player can get good teammates to help them pubstomp.
