Agreed pretty much. I think the match composer will be one of their final updates, as preparation for giving Infinite longterm longevity without manual tinkering from the devs to rotate playlists etc. etc.
Just my personal speculation.

I don't expect Halo 7 until late 2026 at the earliest, so I suspect it'll get plenty of updates in 2025 and probably 2026, but 2024 will be the last big year for it in terms of content I think.
2025 and '26 content will probably be some forge maps here and there, and maybe some game modes possibly Forge made, maybe some variations of Firefight that come and go

The closer we get to Halo 7 the less Infinite will get as more and more devs will be moved from Infinite to Halo 7.

I think the MCC team was pulled off MCC to get the last few major parts of season 5 and Spirit of Fire out the door and then were moved straight into Halo 7

and frankly Infinite is in a good spot nowadays, it's okay, and a good thing for 343 to move on to the next game

A deleted ending for Infinite showed Chief & Co receiving a signal, fans speculated it was the Spirit of Fire joining the fray, some more outside info may have been part of the speculation.
From my point of view, it'd make a ton of sense to introduce the SoF into Infinite.
First off we'd get three spartans to fill out the Co-Op slots, instead of having Chief clones.
Infinity felt like some all powerful ship that came out of nowhere to "solve" some problems, it seemed too advanced for humans to have.
The SoF has a rich history at this point, it has seen its fair share of battle. It being older tech also feels in line with how humanity has been showcased throughout the series.
Not to mention, it'd be awesome seeing the SoF being reunited with humanity, get restocked and up to speed with current events, as well as getting to share their side of the story with everyone else.
