The closest I'd get to saying one's fine is Infinite and 5's boss fights, and even those are just extended encounters with 'regular' enemies rather than a true boss fight.

Halo Infinite's bosses are definitely better than the ones in previous games, but when the competition for best boss in Halo is things like Regret and Tartar, it's not exactly hard to see why Infinite's are so much better

They are historically spotty and FPS games aren't generally the best medium for boss fights.

Plus, it's a bit immersion breaking to have Chief solo the entire leadership branch of a meritocratic organization.

Some which they probably wouldn't have died if they had been ready and primed

A lot had already been in combat for a while over extended months and damaged MJOLNIR

The unifying factor was mostly going 6 months without spare parts and getting constantly hit. Chief being relatively fresh is the big thing he had going for him.

Well, that, and Escharum was hellbent on personally fighting Chief, so he just decided to use his forces as a battery of 'tests'.

Because the Banished, until that point in-universe, had been consistently dragging off literally every single Spartan corpse they could.

They were denying resources to the remaining Spartans by doing so.

Even in places they were treating as a strategic position.

This wasn't their primary goal with the Spartan corpses, mind, because they were salvaging them for trophies and parts and using the bodies for target practice/research.

But it just seems odd that they apparently decided to stop.

I also wonder how they qualify a 'Spartan kill' for Banished forces. I doubt it's "You solo'd this dude!" most of the time, because that just doesn't make sense from the perspective of an observer-Tovarus and Hyperius are always displayed as fighting side-by-side, for example, but Hyperius somehow has a ludicrous number of kills attributed to him.

But yet despite those kills, Hyperius is also considered a braggart and less competent than other Spartan Killers by said other Spartan Killers.

I wonder if previous models were, but humanity got confident with the Infinity so they changed their design approach.

Actually, it's the opposite, but people don't seem to realize that. Mark VII has lasted longer in the field without any actual maintenance periods at this point than literally every other MJOLNIR model ever known.

Stone, Horvath and Kovan still had mostly functional MJOLNIR after operating for continuous months in even more austere conditions than Chief on Alpha Halo or Red-Fifteen on Reach.

If anything, MJOLNIR GEN3 is more rugged than GEN1 ever was, which causes a bit of a snarl with GEN2 (As part of GEN2's touted flaws was ruggedization being a bit lacking, though considering variants like Maverick exists, it may not be too wise to paint GEN2 with that broad of a brush).

The problem comes in where Rubicon's Spartans had exactly one opportunity for semi-reliable maintenance and parts repair, at the crash site of the Mortal Reverie, and even then it was a subpar amount at best-with the more tech-inclined IVs having to help out vehicle mechanics and engineers who were not specialized in the slightest towards working with MJOLNIR, with their greatest qualifications being a capability to maintain parts of naval vessels or warthogs.

So in reality, the failings of GEN3 on Zeta Halo can be chalked up more towards a historical flaw of the MJOLNIR line, than any particular failing of GEN3. The suits themselves worked fine, and even better than prior field use examples of MJOLNIR in terms of long-term durability; The problem was that MJOLNIR as an armor system is a resource-intensive piece of equipment that absolutely cannot subsist solely off of a diet of loose nuts and bolts with the odd spot of solder, but instead requires a steady diet of high-performance and high-specificity parts that cannot be field-fabricated outside of the most basic components, IE whole armor slabs, and even then it is of substandard quality unless you have a full dedicated machine shop tooled to work with MJOLNIR.
