When you see large kill gaps in matches, it's evidence that SBMM is loose rather than tight. In those cases you want to tighten it or have more, in order to create fairer matches. The issue here is that the tighter you have it, the less of a pool of players you have to match against.
This leads to extended queue times - there has to be either a balance or a decision made somewhere and it's almost always going to make some people unhappy

For what it’s worth I think sbmm in infinite is pretty good however sometimes in social modes it feels rather loose. Probably on purpose

I have noticed that it seems like sbmm starts out more loose at the start of a play session (social modes only) and then gets tighter the longer you play

If you haven't played for a while, it should assume your skill decayed, meaning you might get easier matches. As you play, your skill should return to a higher value.

This kind of reminds me of one of the greatest death knells to games operating off of the old lobby system, such as Rising Storm 2.

Where new players would get discouraged because teams would accidentally or on purpose, stack all the competent or effectively godlike players who play optimally, have their graphics set for MAXIMUM ADVANTAGE, have a competent commander, etc etc, onto one single ultra-strong team, and they would utterly and relentlessly curb stomp the other side without mercy, pity, or remorse.

Years later, those same super-skilled players would be wondering what happened to the fanbase of their game, without realizing it was the wall made a by a bulwark they incidentially built with the corpses of those once-fresh players that was keeping fresh blood out.

Doesn’t that account for a very small percentage of the player base though? You’re talking about the top .1% of a game killing it off for everyone else. Hard to believe that’s realistic.

For significantly smaller game pops, it's actually pretty normal.

So it's not 0.1%. It's more like 30-50%.

Some, like Mechwarrior Living Legends, it's more like 100% of common players because the number of regulars can be counted between the fingers of two subpar carpenters.

It also doesn't help when many of these games have next to zero actual help for new players.

But yes, usually, the skill gap distills down(up?) to an implacable wall for the average beginning would-be player after a certain point for many games, especially ones that started out with a significant skill requirement to compete at in the first place.

I'm not saying Halo is one of those games, mind, I'm just saying that it's a thing that can happen under certain circumstances.

And it can be exacerbated as an issue by a complete lack of skill balancing controls dictated by either official measures or internal community policing.

That's mentioend in the tweets from Menke stckr posted earlier. Since players tend to get more skilled over the lifespan of a game, a steady stream of new players is needed to help balance out the lower ranks. As less new players come in, the skill distribution starts leaning towards the higher ranks.

Apparently a large issue is that eye damage is extremely variable and people are generally hesitant to undergo significant surgery to achieve a marginal benefit that has a lot of very specific needs to be fulfilled that are very person dependant. Which is fair and what I expected to hear.

The problem with future warfare type tech that kept getting prototyped is that it is both overkill and overloading troops.

There's no reason to worry about augmenting every troop with a motion tracker in their head because it's just another piece of tech to worry about and could cause serious info overload on an actual battlefield.

Think about how many things are moving around you in a given moment.

I could potentially see stuff like augmenting human FOV, though, by way of changing the pupil shape.

Yes! You'd have to be more specific but you can definitely have when a player enters an area, something happens

You will first need a dynamic object, and then set a boundry. Then you will go into scripting and get the object reference there. Then you will need to create an area monitor, under basic varaibles. Attach it, then you can go to events, forgot which one, and do object entered area, one and do a check if object is player.

If this only occurs after you change your graphical settings, then it's normal and will only happen once. If it's occurring every time you load Infinite, then yes, you should probably get a dedicated graphics card. The integrated graphics are fine for 2018-ish and older games at low settings but if you're thinking of playing anything modern then you'll need an actual card.

Driver issues. What's happening is the game is constantly regenerating the shaders over and over because your driver is either erasing the shader cache or something else is going on

I'd recommend reinstalling the nvidia driver at factory defaults and see if it continues happening

use DDU to uninstall it, then re-install the latest driver

If you've played any other games recently do you have any noticable stutters or games suddenly freezing? cause that's a shader cache issue

Yea, that is the best part, traveling to the different locations.
That is what i find annoying about Infinite's campaign: you finally have everything unlocked and the game beat, but there is no more locations to drive to. Restarting a mission teleports you there. Takes away from the driving aspect.

By the time i unlock the good stuff, the game is over and I have to start the game all over.

The driving aspect in general was pretty boring and a slog fest. You already drove to it, might as well just teleport instead.

I 100% do not miss having to fly a wasp at every single location in a straight line just to find stuff I might've missed before, that was just bad.

Default deadzone settings aren't all that good, make your look thumbsticks vertical and horizontal deadzones 4.0 and the intensity to 14.0 the difference once you do this is huge
