It’s mainly popular for the crash simulations, a lot of racing games nowadays just don’t have good damage models because it’s a lot of work to model different pieces of the vehicle and so on— soft body physics eliminates that by making the entire mesh malleable to the world around it

I always thought it was vehicle licensing, but no, it’s just developers not being able to make that many models

The damage models of Halo could be realistic to the world that we’re playing in, but that being said we probably won’t see heavy amounts of damage modeling in Halo for a long time because it’s just a tedious amount of work to have that many pieces to swap in granted the damage

But that’s why we have effects 👊👊

If we had a model for every little bullet impact, every dent in a fender, the antenna of the warthog being snapped, etc, we’d probably be looking at more resources wasted on vehicles alone and it wouldn’t really be a rational approach with everything else the game has to process, especially with Halo physics and everything else in mind

5 is my overall favorite. Really enjoyed the gameplay in that and multiplayer kept me coming back for years. Way longer than any previous Halo. I also enjoyed the campaign. one of the weaker executed stories, but it had elements I enjoyed, and the campaign was very fun to play, at least.

I don't think it is nostalgia bias because i think everyone who has played wreckfest knows how ridiculous the deformation can be, like would that happen against some of the tech demo machines that literally squash your car, yeah maybe, but vehicle on vehicle collision? i don't think so. in flatout it makes a bit more sense since, the steel frame wouldn't deform as much as the thinner bodies, plus the bumpers and hoods hang better in flatout

I get that the MP suite is basically a simulation, but in my mind having a cutscene to watch or even a little single player segment to play through every couple of level ups towards the event pass to keep my attention on the event would be sick

The only weapon that has no real utility in higher levels of play is the needler.

Those weapons still have utility. The pistol requires skill to use properly. You need to be able to get headshots. If you know you’re going close quarters the pistol has the absolute worst melee range and speed between melees I believe. The best players make use of the two weapons they have. They use the plasma rifle to stuns players and slows them down. Or they use the plasma pistol to drop shields. Or the assault rifle to get faster more likely to land melees. Yes, the pistol is used a lot but the other guns in multiplayer have their own specific quirks and utility that makes them useful to people who know how to use them.

also i can confirm that the BR needs a hotfix, its the consistency that crashes the game

whenever my game crashes its usually because 2 ppl zoom and fire at the same time with a BR

somewhat easy to replicate in tactical slayer, but 343 stuffs the Bandit down ur throat so you can hardly even get the BR and they took the magnum and commando out the playlist

i got it on capture when my game crashes and many times i had a BR in hand and was just starting to zoom

also i had checked the scoreboard just before bc i was confused why i didnt see enemys and as it turned out 3 teammates had dropped and got exchanged and on the enemy side it was 4

with me thats 8 ppl crashing
and we were jsut about half time

so something in Halo crashes the GPU which in return ends the application. I expect some DirectX crash and Ive found that in numerous logs and breadcrumbs SSAO is the last command issued - so im gonna check if that can be disabled

Since last weeks reset on the 11th my game crashes right at the loading screen before a game or on "loading map" part. Earlier in the week it would only happen every 4-5 games now its happening anytime I try to play, no matter the mode. I'm just trying to finish the weekly event I have 3 items left. I have tried a ton of fixes I've found online, everything from driver updates to changing my keyboard layout but nothing does the trick. I've given up on trying to play because the bans keep getting longer and longer and I don't want to get myself perma banned. If anyone knows a fix that I may have not tried id greatly appreciate it.
