The answer to all of this is to go way back: CoD: American Revolution.
I do personally, and I feel like grittyness is the best way to portray what treyarch and infinity ward wanted to
get your Brown Bess to lvl 14 to unlock the bayonet attachment.
Be unique if they leaned towards more supernatural genres. They’ve dabbled a little with it with COD Zombies
If they had a horror and gore heavy zombies like in ww2, that would be sick
Generally I kind of want some grittiness to come back. Was getting tired of shooters and games being so color saturated and including neon lights and effects all the time
It’s like the aesthetic/art style version of the whole Killmonger haircut thing or PlayStation repetitive revenge plotlines for their exclusives. It’s just everywhere and too common
Exactly, maybe not the practically black and white color of WaW but not something as vibrant as BO7
Or something like Spec Ops the Line
ok black and white is definitely an art direction. haven't seen much of it in a 3d game though.
There have been few that can think of like “Saboteur and Batman Telltale black and white edition few years ago.
Hopefully the new CE will do it's job and attract a new fanbase to the game. As well as bringing back a big chunk of older fans. Fingers crossed the project will do it's job.
A proportion of hardcore fans will reject it for various reasons - and that's ok - this is not the project to win those player's back.
The trick for HS is how to bring all those fans, new and old, together on the next project.
The multiplayer needs to be expansive and feature complete. And most importantly - welcoming for the new Halo:CE players. And I'm sure that is one of the main reasons for squeezing sprint into the sandbox.
I'm not sure how they will approach Halo 7? They risk fracturing the new playerbase as those who have only played Halo:CE will be confused. They almost need to include Halo Infinite in the package - but that still doesn't help with the concept of Cortana's demise.
HS have their work cut out.
That’s why I say despite the rumors possibly being false, we may very well get remakes of the rest of the trilogy and possible remasters and ports of 4 and 5 to essentially catch them up to speed
Highly doubtful that the trilogy will be remade as the need to move forward for Infinite’s sequel
Can't just leave the Wars duology out.
The only way I can see a trilogy remake happening is if they outsource it
But I also think remaking the trilogy is a stupid idea
Also is there any studio working on the CE remake besides Halo Studios or are making it on their own
I personally think the trilogy is a fait accompli.
If the first one is successful into the Playstation market there is no way they will leave them hanging. Not with money to be made.
It will be easier and cheaper to do successive games. They will have already established the game engine. Developed the tools to transfer assets from Blam to UE5. And the older games will need less and less changed to make them presentable.
PS. ODST could be added as extra missions to Halo 3.
Better idea:
Just port MCC
Hell, port it each game at a time like they did on PC if that makes it easier.
I would much rather see that happen than spend a decade getting remakes of games that don't particullarly need them
I do not want to see this series chasing after the glory days, telling the same story again
I guess it's got too many issues still - and it's days were numbered once they abandoned Blam.
Better to get everything onto the new hybrid UE5 engine. And just have one API to maintain going forward.
And look - if they were clever they would make each game they do from now on launch from the same menu system - create a Halo MCC 2.0 going forward.
Infinite was veering a little too close into that territory for my comfort
Yo
?
No thanks. MCC exists to keep the legacy games alive and accessible to players, making it present on other platforms is a great way to do that and get people into the series
Hell, the PC port is proof of that
Plenty of people got into the series because of that collection's port
Honestly. I wanna switch from Xbox to pc tho. So im happy halo is where it is and on pc
I think Playstation users are more likely to buy into a collection with 6 formerly exclusive games than have to buy multiple remakes which take years to produce
Yep. MCC will keep the legacy alive.
But I don't think you can pitch those games to a new generation going forward.
If you don't have a nostalgic / emotional investment then they are just old janky graphics to laugh at (like my kids do).
If you want a new, young, and cashed up audience - you need a modern presentation. And I think it makes sense to freshen up the original story for everyone.
I don't believe that at all. Plenty of young people are open to getting into older media
I really do not want to see the original games get the hollywood "making it cool for a younger audience" treatment
That is cool. It's very subjective.
But I imagine they have done a lot of research and focus group type stuff into which direction is best.
I'm old and enjoy old games. My young adult kids don't. And I know my younger nephews don't.
So my limited research of half a dozen people support the direction HS is taking.
And people often have the same feeling about comic, books, and/or movies.
Some are needed. Some are not. Some work. Some don't.
The new Halo:CE isn't my cup of tea either - but I'm looking forward to a new influx of fans.
...
And I have to admit that the original Halo:CE looks bad. It would be a hard sell to a new gen.
Despite my love for it.
But the thing is that
A: a ton of younger players don't have as much of an issue with dated graphics
B: Halo 2 has a perfectly fine remaster and Halo 3 still looks pretty great
I am fine with CE Remake being a one-off 25th anniversary thing, but not as the start of new series of remakes.
The key is that "some" younger players don't have issues. But "some" of course will.
The key is which direction will generate the most paying customers.
Plus the advantage of making it a safe project to get used to the new UE5 combo engine.
...
Halo 2 and 3 do look good. Or at least better than Halo CE.
But if they do manage to open up a serious (and profitable) Playstation market - it's a no brainer to extend the series to the next two games.
Especially as the process will get easier, quicker, and cheaper now that you have the engine and tools you need.
Cool. But it won't necessarily be for you. Or us. But for "them".
I'm more than happy as long as we get an influx of Halo fans... so that whenever the next iteration of multiplayer eventuates - there will be more people to humilate and bag me.
I like the fact there remaking it. CE has a badass story and it’s not done right by its choppy 2000s graphics or its remaster
I feel odst should be added to halo 2 because they take place at the same time
hi
Wsp
Nice and You?
I’m good
do you think in the next halo games there is execution like halo5?
I hope so, I loved executions. Especially in reach
Yes, too bad there are no more players on halo 5 forge I spent my childhood on the xbon one s and on forge
Assasinations were awesome. But the problem is that people would turn them off - usually when they were playing a serious game - and then just not be bothered turning them on again.
I loved executing them. And yoinking them. And I would have micro-transacted the Hell out of them if they were available in Infinite.
I don’t get it if The Covenant and The Prometheans were working together why wasn’t Jul mdama around halo 4 when he and the Didact agree to work together to bring down Chief
Jul was around, he just didn't have a unique in-game model in Halo 4
Yeah but like he looked like he was hiding from Chief
To be fair, Jul isn't exactly the best fighter and would rather live to lead another day
Like, he can give a great speech, but that doesn't translate to him being a perfect fighter
Unless Didact asked him to go into hiding and if he fell then Jul would plan a large assault on Chief and the rest of the UNSC
From I know he has a huge grudge against Humanity for killing his wife
Yes but having a grudge doesn't mean he's going to want to throw away his life fighting against what most of his kind view as humanity's best warrior
Like, if I was in his shoes and heard that Master Chief was alone and heading my way, I would rather not be staying and trying to fight him
He wouldn’t let that slide though he do anything to avenge his wife
Fair enough
But this is the supreme leader Jul mdama after all
Even though it confirmed he an opportunist not actually a leader of the Covies
Killing Chief isn't his ultimate goal for avenging the death of his wife. Like, he knows Chief isn't the one who personally did it, so it would mean nothing to him to kill Chief. For others within his Covenant, sure, but he's more than fine letting those serving him try and get that kill instead
He is the leader of his Covenant splinter group, you can be an oppotunist and a leader at the same time
So in other words he a coward
Explain how killing Master Chief would somehow factor into Jul wanting to avenge his dead wife
I would’ve assumed killing Jul mdama made the Covenant stronger without him or broken despite the attacks on Vadam Mountains and Sunion
If they both went toe to toe in the end John would show him respect
Like he did with the leader of the banished
His Covenant didn't become stronger when he died, they became more desperate and decided to try killing Arbiter as a hail mary. It did not work
I think you don't really understand how little Chief mattered to Jul. Jul wasn't monologuing about how he'd die in a glorious battle against Chief over large holograms. He was plotting his revenge against ONI and the UNSC while giving speeches to rally his troops, playing on their own desires for a continued war against humanity or their religious beliefs regarding the Forerunners
You think if he had A Forerunner Element would he stand a chance against the UNSC
I mean I think forerunners’s powers are stronger
Well they’ve been pretty much doing that since Infinite
The way I see it, jul has seen Chief take down the covenant almost single handedly. So if I was him I wouldn’t want to fight the chief either
I mean, to the ignorant it seems like that yeah
Wdym
Chief is just really lucky to have been handed everything that’ll undermine the Covenants religious war, AND a common enemy that would force alliance ships with someone like the Arbiter who actually got the Elites to help humanity at very critical points, and like 2 space stations that’ll get rid of their threats
If the Halo’s didn’t exist along with the truths they revealed, humanity would be dead
Should I get an xbox series x for the Master chief collection?
That wasn't what Ninjaknight was arguing though. They were saying that Jul 'Mdama should have killed Master Chief to avenge the death of his wife, but Master Chief had no part in the death of Raia 'Mdama since he was drifting slowly towards Requiem at that point. Chief's death is not important to Jul on a personal level because there is no personal connection between the two. Like, if his soldiers kill him, great, he now can use the clout from such an act to rally more under his banner, but Jul's revenge was to be against ONI, as he knows they had major involvement in the death of his wife. Chief's luck was not important to the discussion
I didn’t say Jul should’ve killed Chief I’m saying he would’ve wanted revenge on humanity not exactly John
You said Jul was a coward for not going and killing Chief
I was thinking of the humans like the UNSC not chief
Is John the one who killed jul’s wife
This is what you said in response to me saying Killing Chief isn't Jul's goal. Not sure how this is about other humans being cowards
My response was to GT’s statement about Chief “single handedly” taking down the Covenant. I said that that’s what the ignorant would think in-universe of the events that occurred with the victory over the Covenant
Just because it's happening doesn't mean people have to like seeing it
Infinite still did enough new things for it to not feel totally redundant.
Why’d you think I pretty much disregarded Infinite the moment I saw it?
It was basically following the “return to classic” trend franchises do when they’re creatively bankrupt or desperate and just rely on like kicking a dead horse.
Marvel and DC returned to classic era designs and Artstyles after their 2010’s era stuff. TMNT just went retro with the 80’s-90’s era artstyle and writing for games and appearances after TMNT 2012 ended before the 3D Animated movie happened. Sonic Generations brought back Green Hill zone and every game after that one just had to have Green Hill Zone in it until Frontiers where Sonic fans groaned at the sight of Green Hills zone in some levels.
The MCU is using the classic comic accurate designs for costumes over original designs these days.
Tron Ares went hard with the references to the first Tron movie while practically ignoring Tron Legacy’s existence
Star Wars has been relying heavily on the time period between the prequels and original trilogy as well as after while making incessant references to both rather than doing something like focus on the Old Republic
Etc.
It still promoted itself heavily as a “return to classic” type game. Not trying to do anything new or interesting but just call back to old stuff
Which was probably a better call to make as, they needed to get fans on board rather than risk further alienating them
kinda funny that classic nowadays means not having several spartan abilities or loadouts and majority are just pickups.
It’s the reason why I wasn’t interested though. That stuffs always employed by people that are desperate and aren’t confident in their own stuff
Showing they wouldn’t stick to their guns and believe in what they were building and setting up which is basically what Infinite was. Throwing out practically everything from 4 and 5
No Prometheons, the Created plot thrown out, 343’s original artstyle thrown out for a artstyle intentionally made to be nostalgic, the thruster system from 5 removed, sprint nerfed, Locke (the other protagonist of 5) potentially killed off
good, good, don't see it, they also removed other abilities as pick ups, good (been nerfing it for 3 games btw), maybe.
Nope.
Bad, bad, the first promo art was clearly made to invoke CE, more bad, and more bad
how can you say bad if you don't even know if locke was killed off or not?
oh, I guess the spires and doors and probly forgetting other things, but I don't really mind if they moved on from h4 aesthetics.
I want them to move in from Bungie/classic aesthetics
Already said before how I think of them
I'd like a mix of old and new. give me some aging, but still sleek and futuristic.
Wouldn’t mind that. Infinite just makes the Humanity and the Covenant races feel stagnant with how everything was just brought back to look like they did during the classic trilogy even though in-universe that was at least half a decade ago by that point
With circumstances being majorly different compared to back then as well
There's Reclaimer era (H4/H5) designs in Infinite, main ones being the Plasma Pistol (It has minor changes but it is basically the Halo 5 Plasma Pistol in terms of visuals), Plasma Turret, Warthog, Wasp and Mongoose
So I think it's wrong to claim Infinite is just going back to just the original trilogy for its looks
The Wasp is a 343 original. Can’t exactly use a classic design for that unless you just ditch the Wasp for the Hornet
It still doesn’t erase that Infinite just majorly threw out almost everything from the 4/5 games. It took until the past year to acknowledge and add Gen 2 armor pieces (not even proper armor core)
Good thing I listed other Reclaimer era designs which were carried over into Infinite then
I thought you said Reach had the best looking armor...
Of the Bungie era. That it’s what the classic trilogy should’ve looked like
Basically 4/5 > Reach > Classic
What did you think of H2A?
Nicer graphics though I think the armor you can wear in the MCC customization for the 2 anniversary should’ve been wearable for the campaign or something.
Still not as good as how Reach looks though
H2A is basically 4's art style
Not in the campaign at least
I saw in the multiplayer that the anniversary edition version of your Spartan character has the Halo 4 artsyle of armor if a bit changed
I finished Halo 5!
Nice
You can hop onto Warzone if you want. It’s honestly 5’s biggest game mode
And best!
It is. Though the bugs have been a issue
We were crushing it one game in mythic just earlier up until Banshee bosses appeared. Got all of them except the last one who glitched into one of the big building like parts of the Oasis map
I don't have online access sorry.
It just flew around in there, we couldn’t damage it, and the timer basically just ran out and it was a game over
That’s a shame. If/when you get it. You HAVE to try Warzone
In the meantime I bought Halo Infinite and once it's done installing I'm playing that next.
I never really “bought” Infinite. The times that I tried it and it’s multiplayer we’re cause it was just free for download.
I remember the campaign requiring purchase but then one of the last times I played Infinite, I checked and I could just play the campaign
Well I intend to get the campaign. Besides clearing that story I did research which led me to believe Infinite has a Open World environment. I'm not sure at all so the best way to find out is to play it.
In the meantime I'm learning more behind the scenes stuff of Halo 5.
A guy did a video reviewing 5 that’s actually really nuanced
He aired his frustrations but also pointed out where the game did well and right as well as the real world situation and stuff going on with the game both before and after
I'm now reading how people reacted to Halo 5 on Wikipedia. I know that's not a reliable source but I figured why not.
Yeah Wikipedia is ok, but teachers are right to say you can’t rely on it for everything with how people can change it on a dime
Halo 5: Guardians received generally positive praise for its multiplayer and gameplay mechanics, while criticism centered on its campaign story, character development, and absence of split-screen co-op.
Pretty close to what the reviewer said as well
He also mentioned it selling insanely well in its first week alone
I don't understand the complaints about split screen I don't think it's anything to worry about as personally I never cared for split screen much in certain games such as Halo.
It’s a long standing feature for those that like to play co-op
Without it means no couch co-op
I don’t find it a big deal either but I can understand how disappointing that can be for some people but not something worth going crazy about
There is a section of the community that still like the nostalgia of split screen play.
Personally, I can't stand it. I want the whole screen and no distraction. I get nausea with split screen play (I coped ok when I was younger and played CE at LAN parties).
I'm lucky that I had the space and resources to set up a table with multiple screens in the man cave. My kids and I played out there.
I was ok with Split Screen as a kid for some of the games me and my friends played, but I’m not gonna lie, definitely prefer online co-op over that
We just didn’t care as we’d also play games where the co-op basically forced both characters to stay in the same area to avoid split screen, or even just take turns playing a game.
It didn’t help that during the times we did have split screen for some games, and it was a competitive game like COD Black Ops 2, we’d cheat and look at each other’s screens to know where each other are to avoid either of us getting the drop on the other
And that was my final straw to invest the cash in multiple boxes / screens - the kids were very adept at playing their screen AND watching the other ones. There was nowhere to hide for multiplayer.
I had to have my own screen to survive. 😄
I think some of my issues with the Reclamer era Forerunner architecture has to do with how it can so often lose focus. What I mean by that is that so often Forerunner environments really lack a ways of being able to guide the player's eyes. Many areas are too complex for their own good while also lacking in things like color variety or more (for lack of a better word) focused structures
And it is all the more weird in Halo 4 because of how often that game jumps between getting it right and missing the mark.
Also there are a few other issues like the lack of the traditional Forerunner glyphs and runes or how certain design choices can feel a little random
At its best you get areas like the structure in Reclaimer, the multiplayer maps Solace and Monolith, or the Cathedral room at the end of Requiem
At its weakest you get levels like Shutdown or a few of the Spartan Ops maps
Starting to get better at Halo 3 multiplayer
Think I’m getting better at Halo in general
My problem with 343's forerunner structures, besides the obvious too shiny and clean complaint, is just how overly angular everything looks
Like im pretty sure bungies forerunner designs also consisted of round shapes as well, not just triangles
Wouldn't have been possible given that the campaign and multiplayer for H2A was done by different teams working with different pipelines and game engines. Only way they'd have been able to make the H2A MP Spartan armour useable within campaign is if they remade the whole campaign within the modified Halo 4 engine H2A MP runs on
I really liked that about halo 4 though
It reminded me of tron
The 343 had round ones too plus the angular ness combined with how animated they all were just gave this feeling of tech being alive
I love Tron
Ah so that’s the reason. It did seem weird playing through the campaign, seeing everything just look like updated graphics and lighting from the original game. Maybe some slight design changes, with Chief looking no different than he does in the original Bungie version. But then I go to customization and see two designs for 2 (2 and 2A) with 2A having a much more 343 look
Okay guys, here me out. Halo studios has perfectly laid the groundwork for this idea. But I'm not sure if its too late now with the new Halo book's release (I haven't read it yet).
But, with halo 4 and especially halo 5 not being received too well. Halo infinites slow start. All the talk about the endless and how they can possibly effect time. Now Halo is working on Halo CE campaign remake. Halo 2 and 3 are also rumored to have remakes.
What if, after the end of Halo Infinite, they had all of humanity wiped out except Chief. Have him successfully use the endless's ability to effect time, maybe with the help of Joy (The Weapon). He then travels back in time to a point before everything went wrong, in his old body but with all his future memories in tact. Which is a tool he will use to try and stop humanities extinction. Hence Halo CE remake. You play through the remakes with little change to the story. But after halo 3's remake instead of the whole didactic thing. (Chief doesn't wake him up cause he remembers how things went in that scenario.) Chief instead focuses on saving Cortana. Now you play through Halo 4 with the focus being on getting Cortana back to Halsey so she can be saved. For extra spice you can have some villains also be sent back in time to try and stop Chief from reaching his goal. End of Halo 4, Chief successfully saves Cortana or at least buys her an extension on her life. Now Halo 5 doesn't take place, cause Cortana isn't bad. Chief's and Cortana's goal now, is to change the future where humanity goes extinct. Doing this would also give them opportunities to bring the Arbitor back into play (for example). I mean there's so many fun ideas this would open up. This would also keep all the previous Halo's canon. But still change the story. What do y'all think? Trash idea or intriguing? 🤔
That sounds like a terrible idea
And this isn't a good way of coming up with new opportunities to make characters like Arbiter playable again
Halo 4 and 5 sold well and were rated good
my suggestion would be to wrap up zeta halo like finding infinity, lasky and maybe locke if he's not dead. After that, I don't know cause not sure how the endless and atriox are going to play out.
Honestly, Halo needs to go through a major status quo change.
Like completely change galactic dynamics and circumstances cause 4 and 5 had humanity pretty ok and sort of dominant due to the Covenant breaking up, but then Infinite just came and had humanity be losing again with a NEW Flood like race coming in to scare everyone with the Prometheans just being thrown out
Like actually have the human Sangheili alliance go somewhere. Maybe construct new galactic communities. Have new races from other galaxies appear because everything just traces back to the Forerunners and Precursor in some way
Does a gone know why halo 5s achievements are not working?
They worked for me last I checked?
Where are you getting that the Endless are "Flood-like". The Endless aren't a parasite which infects others based on what we've seen
Well they have similar origins and can’t be destroyed by the Halos
As well as space manipulation and time manipulation
It takes time for alliances to build up to a point where the two factions who came together are completely living in peace with one another. There's still those within both humanity and the Elites who would gladly continue the war if they could. And allot of stuff traces back to the Forerunners due to there being so much Forerunner stuff in the galaxy
Then do a time skip and that’s why I said have races from other galaxies come over. Star Wars did it in Legends
I played coop score attack and scored over a million and beat the par time for that one achievement and it still hasn't worked. For the heroic campaign it says I've completed the 40% on the achievement tracker. But for the play any mission on heroic, it's at 0 percent. I can't fathom why. I've played over 5 slayer matches, no achievement. I'm waiting on multiple achievements.
Nothing has been confirmed about time manipulation being an ability the Endless have. And just because the Endless can survive Halo, that does not somehow make them "Flood-like"
They come from the precursor, can survive halo, can manipulate space. They’re very Flood-like in a way that isn’t being a parasite/infection
Contact Xbox. I only just recently got an email that a purchase I made days ago has been processed
MCC achievements are weird you may need to open and close multiple times, wait, and for campaign ones do them again entirely
Your probably fine just waiting I got a million achievements just launching it once
I remember all my achievements being Diamond achievements
Precursors being involved in their origins does not mean they are Flood-like, it'd be like saying an animal and a plant native to a specific country are like one another. And what do you mean by "Manipulate space"?
The Flood and Endless (not Precursor got the names mixed) are essentially two evolutionary paths from the same source. Not the same as saying ones a plant and the others an animal. Harbinger was shown to have levitation and teleportation which can both be described as feats of manipulating space
think they're referring to h5.
It may just be an Xbox issue
The armour is what allows Harbinger to float, she doesn't naturally have the ability to float. And her teleporting is most likely related to technology within her armour as well
hi all, not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm having some issues with halo MCC online co op on halo 3, 4 and reach
each game is totally playable until we get to the 4th mission of each campaign, then me and my buddy start getting "game error"
has anyone experienced this and been able to fix?
we keep giving up and then moving to a different halo, but the problem occurs again every time 😂
the mission will work fine for about 2-3 minutes and then it seems as soon as we get in a gunfight, the game kicks us out and says something about a game error
we've tried changing several settings but to no avail
It's time. I'm starting Halo Infinite.

Halo 5's ending was a pretty drastically changed dynamic wise.
Yeah but then the next game immediately threw that out for a conflict with a different sort of Covenant
Would’ve been interesting to see Halo’s take on a synthetic threat, especially since humanity shot themselves so much in the foot with the importance they placed on AI’s in their society. Not to mention which AI’s can you trust since Roland stuck with humanity as well as probably others meaning there’ll be AI vs AI conflict
I mean, it also helps that humanity's form of 'being on the back foot' was way different after 5, and squandered in Infinite
Unlike the Covenant, there's no 'solid ground' when it comes to taking on the Created. The UNSC was effectively reduced to being nomadic scavengers.
The Banished just comes off as a reskinned Covenant and the Endless just sound like a repeat of the Flood but in a different flavor
If time travels gonna be a thing then maybe have it be a plot device for a time skip to the future where the galaxy is changed
Maybe the standing governments and systems will have fallen and replaced with different ones
Arent the banished themselves supposed to be nomadic scavengers themselves? Like how are they capable of completely destroying the UNSC like the normal covenant now?
Halo has never had time travel in a controllable manner.
Hasn’t stopped it from being a plot device at times
Not really. More a consequence of the plot device.
that's a new one for me. Are you both on console and what did the error say? Also, have you tried loading mission 4 or any after that and what difficulty?
Didn’t the Banished invade Earth and win?
That would be insanely stupid
Well the Covenant did the same and basically we’re gonna win until the Ark drew their attention and they just left
And theyre supposed to be much smaller than the covenant. Tbh i still don't understand their hatred for humanity before cortana blew up the brute homeworld
You think theyd be looking for alliances
I never played halo wars 2 tho so eh
Not even slightly, what?
Alright I just started Infinite and defeated my first boss Tremonious.
I just grabbed a Spartan Core but can't decide between Voltaic or Fortress.
No?
Had to start over as I missed some collectibles.
My first collectible was called The Plan a recording that took place after the events of Halo 5.
I usually upgrade health and grapple first.
Got a Spartan Audio Log this time during the moment the Banished invaded the Infinity and some escaped while others well.
I got the Doom Skull.
Got a Banished Log called Loss. One of Escharum's Testimonies.
Thats all the collectibles on the first mission now to complete it.
You know you can replay the missions, right? You don't need to try and get everything within them in your first attempt
I know. But I decided to restart anyway.
Next time I better check before I finish the mission.
I'm also trying not to accidentally spoil anything for whoever has NOT played Halo Infinite or the games before it. So far I haven't spoiled anything right?
My next mission is Foundation.
On the mission I automatically get a UNSC audio log The Question.
Got the Cowbell Skull and another Banished log.
What are some good campaign mods for MCC ? Only looking for ones that are lore friendly so nothing too crazy
I grabbed a UNSC log for The Prisoner section called Not My Fault.
I'm overdoing it with the updates so I'm gonna shut up for now.
The Rebalanced mods by RubyOfBlue is where I suggest you start off, he's basically gone in, reworked encounters, weapons and whatnot to build upon what is already there within the campaigns. I know he's deep in work on Halo 2 right now and it's looking real good.
But honestly, allot of campaign mods out there are very much just throwing in things for the sake of it, even when they don't make sense, such as Brutes with Shock Rifles in Halo Reach or having each iteration of the Needler from each game in Halo 3 and none of them share ammo or do anything which makes them distinct from one another.
Exactly , I tried a couple of them even some that add extra content but a lot of them don´t really make sense lore wise even if they are fun. I just want some extra content that makes sense 😅
Fair!
Like, I am down for more guns being added, but not multiple variants of weapons already in the game
So like, adding a BR and DMR into Combat Evolved is something I am fine with modders doing, but adding in multiple variants of the AR just for the sake of having them feels pointless
Honestly this should motivate me to get my Halo 4 mod out of preproduction sooner rather than later
I completed two missions and so far I'm still not sure if the Open World thing exists in Halo Infinite.
And this is coming from someone who loves open world games.
+1 for time travel arc.
Seeing as the start of Infinity was so reminiscent of Infinity War's opening where Hulk got laid flat (like Chief did by Atriox), it only makes sense.
Oh god no, that's a horrible idea.
Okay I'm back on the game and I'm starting the mission OUTPOST TERMONIUS.
I got another core and a Banishe Audio Log which is a tribute to Tremonius who was the first boss I eliminated.
The open world is fun but it could have been so much more which makes it feel even more shallow than it is
I secured FOB GOLF, got another Spartan Core to upgrade my grapple and saved Boxer Squad now I'm gonna secure FOB FOXTROT.
I'm targeting the first tower but what am I doing exactly?
Good question. anyways keep fighting the banished
Found a way to end the lockdown and I got a Banished Audio Log.
Got me a Threat Sensor upgrade.
I defeated an Elite named Chak Lok.
I double this, halo ce rebalanced is amazing. Bro went all out and even added in new set pieces, the assault on the control room bit with the odsts dropping in being a huge highlight for me personally
Also the ability to do extra melee damage and send grunts flying by smacking them with a heavy weapon is a super underrated feature that i kinda wish mainline halo would incorporate. These are legitimately way better ideas for a halo remake rather than carelessly adding sprint or adding more precision weapons like the DMR
heavy weapons do have more melee damage in the older games at least. h2 for example also has a tiered system where if you're moving, jump and melee it will do more damage than a standing still melee.
I got Briglard and got the Unbound Plasma Pistol.
Ah right. Iirc halo 3 toned that down to just weapon dmg like how the rebalanced mod does it, tho in 3's case its only certain weapons like the brute shot
I like how rebalanced does it, especially with the visual feedback of seeing grunts and jackals getting smacked away
Hey guys! Recently (like earlier today) began playing Halo Infinite's multiplayer for the first time since like 2022, and I have a bunch of unlocks from 2023 and 2024 and I'm very confused how
Because I never touched the game during that time, no reason I would've unlocked anything
Also why are there SPARTAN helmets with cat ears?
because it's fun
The person who's wearing them is awful at Halo
The multiplayer for Infinite is surprisingly fun
So true...
@plucky flicker was reading this interview with Neil Davidge from before Halo 4's release where he says
No, I mean, I've not actually been involved in re-working any of the old themes. I've purely been writing new material. That's been my brief, is to evolve the musical world of Halo. Even though obviously I reference—purely because I've been playing the games for many years—I'm referencing Marty's work. But not in any direct way. I've not been taking any of his melodic themes and updating them and changing them around and rearranging them.
And him articulating this actually puts a lot of his work into perspective for me. Also explains why it was Kazuma Jinnouchi who did tracks like "Never Forget (Midnight Version)" and "Sacrafice"
The full article if anybody is interested
I do love how Davidge's stuff turned out, but I can't help but lament that we didn't get to see him do his own spin on pre-established songs more
I would've loved to see his take on "Walk in the Woods"
Maybe applying some of the ethereal elements in songs like "Requiem" to it
Halo Infinite having an intro with some similarities to the beginning of Infinity War is not somehow reason to believe Halo needs to have a time travel story going forward
Like, a ship being attacked and an antagonist being present for the attack is a pretty common trope in fiction
Somewhat related but funny enough some of my favorite versions of classic halo themes are not present in the games at all
Halo Legends' has a few remakes of those themes. The Last Spartan and Impend in particular are the best imo. Hot take but i prefer them a lot over their game versions 🙏
Kind of crazy to think when bungie was making Halo it was defining what shooters should have.
CE defined console gaming.
Halo 2 had xbox live, Ranked play, custom games, playable elites.
Halo 3 brought Forge even more custom games, Theater,
Reach created depth in armor customization and forge, even more custom games were created, firefight evolved from odst.
I thought people said Reach's Firefight was worse than ODSTs back in the day
Reach's Firefight rocked
💫
Are you still having the issue? If so, are you both on the same platform, what difficulty and what does the error say? Have you tried restarting your games and then just loading the fourth mission or any after it?
hey, thank you for your reply
yes, we are still experiencing the issue. we went to halo odst and it occured on the 5th mission this time
both playing on pc from the same house
normal difficulty
we've tried restarting, setting different network settings (turning on LAN instead of xbox live), tried different graphics settings
have tried resuming from the mission, tried starting from the mission specifically
we tried some missions after and it was occuring on those too
you'll get more visibility posting in #1075989764026675210 for what its worth
yea I may do that, kinda just given up at this point
i tried the mission with a different friend and it worked fine
i'm wondering if its because me and my brother are playing from the same connection (this has caused issues in other games for us)
and/or the fact that he's playing on windows 7, me on 10
but it doesn't really explain why the first 3-4 missions work absolutely fine up until then
often the error seems to be triggered when i mouse over an enemy (so the reticle goes red) and shoot
what does the error say if you can remember it.
not my video but its the same error msg
occurs on every version of halo we've tried (3,4,reach,odst)
tried running exitlag (gaming vpn) but also didn't make a difference
My guess would be it's due to you two being on the same connection. maybe something is clashing, but not right away.
this is what im thinking, or its to do with my brother running windows 7 still
seeing as it worked with a different person playing from a diff country
try locking the game to 60 fps and see if that changes anything.
tried it several times :D no change
alright
the last thing we have left to try is for him to connect on a different pc we have here, which runs win11 and is much newer
but it belongs to someone else so we can only borrow it to test
its just odd how it seems to occur on mission 4/5 of each halo, but runs totally fine up until then
its like we are only getting to play demos of the game 😂
I suspect it's the windows 7.
indeed, seems to be the only thing that makes sense at this point
try playing it through solo on both machines and see if it happens.
solo it works!
It also depends on the speed of the drives on the two PCs, if they are much different it will cause a crash
i read some stuff about this, we're both using normal hdds (not ssd or nvme)
i will try get a recording of it today anyway
does going back to the missions you had no problem with still work in coop?
given he's on win7 i might even imagine that part of it is due to that computer's hardware being very slightly underpowered. generally speaking, further levels into a game become more technically demanding
but also, mcc is known to be unhappy playing campaign on lan as well
we haven't tried the previous missions again no
is there a way we can run the game in true lan
not to my knowledge, no
my guess is the same-network issue is something to do with origin addresses, perhaps try with only one of you on a vpn if you havent already? or using two different vpn softwares? or using two different destination vpn locations (if your software allows)?
we tried with only me on vpn. also tried by tethering to my phone hotspot and then hosting
also tried different vpn locations around europe
I'd say to try the friend's newer pc and if that doesn't work then it's likely the same connection issue or if it does then probly the win7 pc.
thats on the agenda for tonight :)
I made it farther in Infinite where I got to meet Halo Infinite's antagonist The Harbringer.
@inland minnow @celest heron - we tried it with win11 pc
works totally fine. must be something to do with win7 then!
we can finally finish the games
Watch some basic tactic vids - eg. by Shyway or Above Average Cody. Spend some time on the shooting range (get better with the sort of weapons you can pick up on the map). Practice head shot. And most people will yell at you to "play your life". ie. put most of your effort into not dying.
When's Halo 5 going to be available on PC
no plans for a full PC port
Dm me, however first thing to work on is your aim at silver 6.
I wouldn't be holding my breath anytime soon.
It's all hands on deck for the new project(s).
And their corporate knowledge for that game engine will be fading fast.
You best chance is that the new CE game takes off and they look at porting other games in a similar fashion. The downside is that 5 is a fair way down the list in order.
Diamond General…
Somewhere between the heat death of the universe and hell freezing over
The closest Halo 5 will get a proper PC port will be when proper Xbox One emulators startss popping up years down the line
Technically halo 5 forge pc exists but is barely active if at all
that makes sense, with the engine being old and focus shifting to new projects, its port probably isn’t a priority anymore
ah yes, so right after Half-Life 3 then
i'm happy for you both! have a good new year full of halo, gamers (:
Happy New Year in advance!
probly hasn't been a priority since they started working on infinite.
Most likely scenario for a PC port is that they outsource it like they did with the MCC ports
I bet it’s 250k points from OGG3 to Hero? (OGG3 means onyx general grade 3)
I’m diamond general, and true endgame will be leveling up through onyx in career.
idk, but shouldn't take super long with dbl xp.
One part of Halo 4's artstyle I do appreciate and don't see anybody mention is how the plants on Reclaimer are direct callbacks to Halo CE
willing to bet right before.
What a pleasant surprise
A very balanced little retrospective
And I can't help but see a ton of merit in the take that "had the campaign not been such a dud, it would be the biggest/greatest Halo ever"
That campaign, while it did have some interesting ideas, was just not up to snuff
Still, good little message at the end about being attached to media
If I'm being fully honest, had Halo 5 truly succeded in this way, Xbox might be in a totally different position. A game of that size and that level of hype was just the shot in the arm Xbox needed all through the 8th Gen
I NEED halo on ps
I think its 300k but it might be 250
Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to PlayStation, releasing in the new year!
Yeaa
Onyx Lance Corporal 3 (ish) is halfway to Hero
I'm Lt. Colonel 1 rn
But my laptop won't run Infinite anymore, so I gotta wait until I get a new PC to finish the grind 🥀
Aw man :(
Which mode have you been playing?
Firefight Classic
I have been doing fiesta.
I can get like 10k score a match usually
Which with the 2x Career Rank now will be 20k ish
(I also was somehow doing that on like 15 FPS average 😭)
It's not bad
I personally find kill capped modes a bit slow to grind CR tho
Husky Raid can be decent but it gets sweaty often
first 117 in 2026 east coast
I always hope to get weapons like Arcane Sentinel Beam/Cindershot/M41 SPNKr/Tracker, they’re so great to use
Wish the mag was bigger on the Arcane Sentinel Beam.
Oh even Purging Shock Rifle works really well.
Pretty sure I saw that vid. It came out not too long ago right?
This vid is a review of the game that is actually quite fair and balanced with the reviewer airing out his frustrations with it (the campaign) at points. He even went into analyzing the games production history, how it did on release, and what came after
Might look at it later
does anyone know where the config file for halo infinite on linux is? also does it have a native linux release because i cant find any linux executables but i havent set any compatibility tool
ok well i just answered my own questions
its certainly using proton and i found the config under the proton C direcotyr
Pretty cool 2026 rewards for infinite!
Gonna get those…
make an emoji for 25 years of halo :)
Are you on bazzite
Wisdom is knowing when looking at the radar in Halo and seeing where you teamates are and then walking away from the yellow dots to find where the enemies spawn.
Once you get good enough awareness you will never need the radar.
I definitely prefer no radar.
Has there been a fix or workaround issued for the MCC Contacting Server: Validating License Information issue? I've seen posts as recent as Christmas where people are looking for fixes but I cant find anything helpful or useful to solve the problem.
A perfection firefight match to start off the year.
If you're still experiencing this its different than the issue that happened w/ the server outages during that period. There are a few fixes, mainly clearing your credential manager with MCC closed and then logging back in.
Yep got my new rewards, didn’t check until after firefight session.
ah dangit can’t use emojis from other servers
A halo game with playable elites, hunters, brutes, f it make them all playable, that's what we want 343, let spartans only be ranked play
Don't care about hit boxes
Final level of diamond…
bet you it probably is 100k total from DGG3 to OC. (Diamond general grade 3 to Onyx cadet)
Iirc it's 150k
Diamond spikes up a lot, then the start of Onyx goes way back down
I tried firefight classic, don’t think I’ll like it for point grind. So I may stick to fiesta.
1,191 to onyx cadet… it’s NOT my fault I had to randomly “die” by nothing in my previous match. I could’ve already advanced.
and finally I stay alive tonight… with my onyx promotion…

no, I wasn’t playing ranked (firefight)
For mcc is their a best keyboard and mouse controls for all the games
I really can't decide what are best controls
Just realized if The Covenant were being pulled by the Guardian’s Slipspace bubble and crash landing on Genesis
Then the Warden must’ve ordered the Prometheans to kill the remaining Covies when Chief and the blue team were investigating Forerunner structures
The game outright tells you this
This is also why there's a bunch of UNSC stuff there
No, but heres what i use which means its objectively the best
LM fire, RM zoom, m4 melee, m5 grenade
Mm up is swap grenade while mm down is swap weapon
R is reload while f is reload second weapon
The rest is default pc controls
sounds terrible
Question what is the best mode to get hero rank?
Firefight or Survive the Undead if you don't want to deal with fighting other people
I hear BTB is great too
Thx
I’ve tried survive the undead
Does anyone have a fix for textures buggin out on halo infinite pc
I had a glitching screen on Xbox, restarted game and it fixed itself.
There was a piece of concept art for Halo Infinite showcasing a Spartan Training Similation, except it appeared to have broken down, with an exposed panel in the "sky". Remembering that a moment ago gave me the thought that it'd be really cool fight through the Banished attack on Infinity and fight for real on a damaged Warzone simulation
Or if the Spartan Acadamy from Infinite was in need of maintenance and had a few maps like that
Actually that gives me the extra idea of maps on the Acadamy having their visuals change slightly from season to season. They kind of toyed with that idea with seasonal game types like Last Spartan Standing or Infection, but it was kind of limited
Though I will say Infection was the one season where the combination of story and (for lack of a better word) content actually balanced out well
Too bad they cancelled it right as it felt like it was going somewhere
Too bad a lot was canceled or wasn't released day 1
If Infinite launched with Forge, it would have really helped the game
A solid launch and decent word of mouth kept people engaged, but without any meaningful social tools/modes at players' disposal and barely any updates for the better part of a year, it is no wonder the player count sunk so fast
I'm still betting on the next mainline Halo game to also delay Forge
At least with Halo 5 you only had to wait a few months for Forge and the updates were semi-frequent.
The deck is truly stacked against 343i/Halo Studios. Reach was the culmination of a decade of exprience and 343i had to follow that up. It isn't a massive suprise they couldn't match Reach as a package on Day 1. Not to mention what is seemingly a revolving door of talent at the studio
If Infinite didn't take half a decade and a year of polish to release, I'd probably be less peeved about it. But it did take that long and still came out so heavily lacking
Its pretty evident 343 overly prioritized the competitive scene over the more casual party game enjoyers that built the halo community in the first place
Honestly, I don't know if that is really true
Yes, Halo 5 really pushed the competitve side of Halo very hard. But that was mainly because Halo Reach and Halo 4 failed to cater to that audience like 2 and 3 wound up doing
But at the same time, Halo 5 did do stuff like 4 player drop-in/drop-out co-op, and released with Warzone which was designed to be "the ultimate social game type"
So I hesitate to really argue that 343i was unaware or didn't try to cater to that audience. Hell, over time Halo 5 really grew into an excellent social game. Though that took more than a few updates
I think it less "prioritizing the competitive scene" and more "being to release with social modes/features on time"
Hindsight is 20/20, but I do think Halo 4 should've focused on ensuring competitive/ranked players were catered to, while building off of Reach's success with social players
But as I said above
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Etksc3mrIQU&pp=ygUOaGFsbyA0IHJldml2YWzSBwkJTQoBhyohjO8%3D @plucky flicker the thought occured to me that the original Halo theme's choir was canonized as a Covenant prayer (end of Delta Halo/beginning of Regret). So that made me think, what if for Halo 4 they tweeked the original theme and instead worked in these chants. The chants are canonically the same as the ones Riser and Chakas say as the Didact awakens in Halo Cryptum
Maybe not even this particular chant, but some new flavor of sound which corrolates to the Didact
I just talked to Neil Davidge. Not much, just sharing appreciation for his work, and he was quick to respond.
Oh sick
From all of the interviews I could find, Davidge came across as a very nice guy who was very passionate about the work he did
He really was kind. He said he just likes hearing people appreciate his work, he called it the greatest compliment and means a lot of him.
Although the orginal chant was canonised, it is still motif of the franchise in a meta-level, but yes you're right, there could've been some thought process involved somewhere, but I think Revival is almost entirely orginal, minus the actual text.
Hmm... I couldn't find any correlating sounds.
Ftr this is more a suggestion of a cool way they could've reimagined the theme for what was ment to be "the reclaimer trilogy" and not me saying Revival sounds like the Halo theme
5 was rated highly by critics and casual gamers when it came out (save for the campaign obviously). And it does need to be acknowledged that the game sold extremely well in the first week alone at a time when Halo didn’t have the perception it has now (which doesn’t help with sales)
The problem just lies heavily with the way the campaign turned out, the microtransactions, how long time “fans” decided to react to everything, and Microsoft being the corporation it is with everything just going downhill from there and we basically lost what Halo 5 added/brought to Halo as a result
If the campaign wasn't a dud, I think the series would be in a much more healthy place
It would’ve. Especially as talent that worked on Halo 5 likely wouldn’t have left because of how some “fans” decided to “share” how they thought of the campaign
And you know, Microsoft not deciding to essentially gut the studio and leave them in an insanely difficult position to make the next Halo game in which is probably why Halo Infinite comes off so much as just reusing what came before cause it’s just easier that way
That many people being let down by something that lacking in quality was a major gut punch to the series
True, however it also doesn’t help when people that worked hard on making the game as good as it was in other areas leave because some people said that they should you know because of how bad the campaign turned out
I don't recall the majority of fans being that level of cruel. Then again, it wouldn't be unexpected for the Internet
On the other hand it is important to remember that Microsoft can't manage a game studio to save their life + Infinite's development was such a long mess that it isn't shocking people left between releases
Ever since Halo 5, the fanbase just progressively got more negative towards the franchise (for some understandable reasons and some not understandable) which doesn’t help getting people interested or invested.
It’s a problem franchises like Star Wars or MHA face. When a community around something builds a bad image, people are hesitant to interact with it especially if all they hear from that community is how much they hate the franchise now
Remember that this was back in 2015. The internet culture back then hasn’t exactly gotten as obviously toxic or crazy as it is today where pretty much anybody with a platform like YouTubers receives them each week
Not saying it didn’t happen but that internet culture just wasn’t like it was back then compared to now
Welp, Didact is gone.
Didact will return in Average: Doomsday.
Chipps Dubbo will return in Avengers: Doomsday
The Flood better get a spare change of pants
Y’know why does the crystals the needler use look delicious?
even if they were edible, I likely wouldn't be a fan. Never really liked hard candy.
Rock candy's great though. Not had some in a while
ever since I had a jolly rancher take one of my teeth out when I was a kid, I tried to avoid them.
The campaign was actually pretty positively received by critics.
I really liked the Infinite campaign, a shame it never got DLC.
I think that woulda been cool.
My next battle pass to complete is the yappening II.
Through all this career grinding, I’ve been completing battle passes that I left unfinished
I remember it being the lower point of most reviews I read/watched
I remember being rated consistently pretty high. But then I don't watch video reviews by people like act man
So if you watch that sort of person that would explain it
anyone wanna play halo ce coop?
The multiplayer took the brunt of the praise
I'm talking about mainstream outlets/commentators
Halo MCC is the only game where I get more hate mail than any other multiplayer game
I play.
I stopped playing mcc multiplayer. Cannot take how bad I am now anymore.
Much better off without it.
I've never really understood that argument.
Parts of it haven't been great for a lot longer than that.
Anybody encounter Infinite Campaign getting stuck on "Compiling Shaders" "10%"? It won't go past that.
I am running this on a Steam Deck.
I'll probably toss a post into the forum here if not.
the #1075989764026675210 forum's the best place to put things like this; the folks who like to help out regularly are more likely to take note of it there
good luck! i'd help you if i knew anything about steam deck ):
I've seen some folks online encounter it on a Windows PC (with NVIDIA), but there's not a lot out there.
My highest firefight score is still 6855, I saw a teammate get 7090 on Vallaheim, man I strive to be like them. I want a 7k match too.
Gotta destroy more phantoms man.
Then at the near same time, focus on those ground units!
Explosives will be your best friend for both
yep
Volatile skewer and probably cindershot combo might do it
and standing in the hill more as well!
25 points every couple of seconds.
Oh yes
I like how quick the volatile skewer reloads.
Volatile skewer can also be used for cleaning up fodder.
Well, guess you’d leave cindershot to do the ground work.
I know the fan base liked to just complain since 3 at the least as Reach was just hated when it came out, but ever since 5, it just got progressively worse that the state of Star Wars right now would be less outright bad than Halo with how the fanbase treats it. Star Wars at least had the fanbase celebrating any project that does good while the bad is critiqued and mocked. Halo though is just hated with a overt scrutinization over the smallest details unlike Star Wars
And you know, you don’t see the fanbase hating any changes in artstyle between Disney Star Wars and Legends Star Wars
I mean most of that hate came from an unfinished game.
All I’ve seen is a fanbase that just got progressively more overly critical and rejective of basically anything 343 made and just summing up everything as 343 being bad and incompetent and that Bungie was the glory days and did everything right with that sentiment just getting more and more extreme as time went on
Man, when I do get like 5.5-6.2k matches, I really do get a ton of progress. 12-14k doubled career progression, you’re zooming at times.
That's the frustrating bit.
There are heaps of things for the community to focus on. Discuss. Contribute to.
Like what the minimum content for release is.
Instead you have a core of bitter self proclaimed protectors of a bygone era - hell bent on Bungie awesome / 343 bad. Non constructive.
It's exhausting.
Not like Bungie is that great anymore. Have zero respect for them these days
Honestly part of why I don’t even like praise for old Halo being attributed to Bungie because they did a thorough job of destroying my respect for them with Destiny
I did some math… 15 levels for each of the 6 ranks, so 90 there, but because of grades, you level up 270 times. Diamond is the warmup for Onyx.
I am at level 227. Almost 228. (Cadet g2/3 onyx)
(This does not include CSR)
How exactly is expecting a game to be finished at release """unconstructive"""
It largely depends on the game.
How many features are essentially “required” on release depends on the game.
Not all RPG’s have a New Game Plus mode yet a game like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 should’ve had New Game Plus in launch in all honesty
Nevermind the other things that game should’ve had
And I never got into the SR grind on Halo 5: Guardians…
And considering Microsoft is managing Halo, you can really only take what you can get
What’s worse? Spartan rank or career rank?
343 in large part has to do whatever Microsoft tells them
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn5lmwJIEcI @plucky flicker
There a difference?
Do you know if there is version of this song without the sound effects?
I don’t really touch competitive because of how people get. Especially since it always resets eventually
Maybe?
Okay but this is Halo we're talking about. This isnt a new franchise, its an already existing one that used to add more features rather than cut out or delay them
Infinite prolly has more content than any other game right now i guess, but its kinda meaningless when the game already launched years ago with none of it. First impressions are everything in this day and age
RAAAAAHHHH HALO INFINITE #1 MOST CONTENT

Games get revived when done well enough
Star Wars Battlefront 2 was rightfully dead when it came out but then it turned around and became so good that people made a petition to keep the game going and get more updates than let it end
I dont think that happens as often as you think. Its also not a viable and consistent way to make a good live service type game
Especially since halo infinite is literally on its death bed rn, its not getting revived at this point
The sad part is most of the people who made Halo don't even work at 343 or Bungie anymore.
Not saying that. Just that it can happen
For varying reasons obviously
Well it didnt and it wont in this case
Not enough people point this out. Old bungie has been gone and existing in name alone for a decade now
It’s why seeing what company was behind making a game doesn’t mean so much these days.
Rocksteady was the same company that made most of the Batman Arkham trilogy and used that recognition to promote Suicide Squad yet the moment you look into it, basically none of the people that really made the Batman Arkham games were there making the Suicide Squad game.
Actually if what I hear is right, the Snake Eyes game that’s currently being made actually has those people behind it
Supposedly the only reason infinite ended up as well as it did is because they got an old bungie guy to help out
Nah
You know, good ol Joe 🤷♀️
Staten was there for basically the last year because their original lead dropped out
Really any help would be good considering how in shambles 343 was after 5 and Microsoft gutting them and leaving them leaderless or something
Its even more evident now that it's been revealed infinite was gonna chase the hero shooter craze lol
They had a few but I think this is still 343's main idea. They wanted something like Halo 3. So equipment was added, BR starts, etc
That wasn't exactly the idea iirc they were exprimenting with a "socket" system which would behave like equipment/armor ablities
They weren't planning a game where you had a roster of Halo characters to pick from alla Overwatch or Apex
Makes sense. Besides that Infinite just felt like it was chasing whatever’s been popular at the time like Fortnite
Well hopefully Halo 7 is more like 5
Nah.. I want it to be like infinite but with slight changes and fixes.
Like add inertia, fix the netcode, fix the AA, fix the physics...
Perfect game..
Then have the community help make ranked and HCS.
Basically these "sockets" would attach to a player's armor and give them a specific role/ablity
This almost sounds like tf2 which was basically a sort of proto-hero shooter when you think about it
My point is that they weren't abandoning Halo's gameplay formula all together to try and do diet-Overwatch
The Project Olympus vidocs show that a lot of Infinite's bones had been figured out by 2018/2019-ish
Obviously, production didn't go as smoothly as people hoped as the planned release date of 2019 came and went
I just felt emptiness and disappointment whenever I played Infinite
Why is that? And the campaign and multiplayer?
Obviously Covid happened and the Slipspace engine wasn't the "industry standard" they wanted it to be
Multiplayer. I just felt bored and “meh” when playing the different modes
Running around and shooting wasn’t as engaging as 5
It is actually really depressing hearing them talk in the Project Olympus ViDocs about how they wanted Slipspace to be the new Unreal Engine (paraphrasing)
Wasnt the engine worked on by contractors tho? That was obviously never gonna happen lol
Would make sense at launch, there was nothing.
Running around and shooting is pretty engaging probably just a personal thing.
This game was comp first.
I played it like a month ago again
Can you send the video link?
What did you play?
Strike mode, 12 vs 12, social games
It didn’t help that it just didn’t look as good or interesting as 5. Everything just looked cheaper
No, the studio have always had a decent compliment of FTEs. Their use of contract staff is no different than the multitude of other game studios out there that partner with other studios during development
Personal take for sure. Most people I know thought the art style was better than 5, even the Halo 5 kids.
The artstyle just looked so uninteresting and cheap/soft/colorful
Is colorful bad
I doubt this. Otherwise their in house guys are just that bad at programming an engine if its bad enough to give them "UI troubles"
Hello I new to serer I played halo reach on Xbox 360 and master chief collection on Xbox one with my lil bro
I’m tired of color saturated games. It makes the game look softer and safer
The UI trouble was for one thing, playlists (which was worked on later) It was a comment made by ske7ch that got dragged into everything.
Technical debt is a real thing and can cause masses of unforseen troubles down the line. It's rarely, if ever, down to bad devs/people that don't know what they're doing. It's almost always down to time and scope
I am pretty sure Halo 5 had more saturation.
Especially in the armor and maps
Its embarrassing either way
The art style was more detailed and realistic. Infinite just looks colorful and soft looking
5 felt a little less saturated imo but yeh both games are guilty of being overly cartoon like in their own ways
Reach and 3 handled colors and lighting best imo
I like this description
5 went for a realistic art style
4 was praised for its lighting
3 was just fine and Reach did it good
4 is a graphically impressive game for the 360 but i honestly hate its art style and especially its use of colors
Looking at photos... Halo 5 is definitely cartoony and highly saturated.
Infinite looks more realistic.
It has a depth of colors.
I wouldn't say it is saturated.
Halo 5 looks flat, where infinite looks more metallic.
I remember the armor in 5 looked like plastic
Same. Looking at photos of the campaign the H5 armors look different. Multiplayer wise... Infinite shreds H5.
Sangheili #givethemback, halo moving forward could have opened up to more playable characters, brutes, hunters, grunts the whole shabang, me personally never cared about hit boxes, ranked play can stay spartans only if you want to "competitive", which really "competitive" takes away most of the enjoyment of life anyways, more playable characters and customization would probably bring back a lot of the fans, been an elite over spartan fan ever since halo 2 🤘😎
The fact people latch so hard on this makes me think of how utterly paranoid and narrow-minded Halo fans must be if their first thought upon seeing a game with class names and unique equipment is somehow... Overwatch?
Like... Have none of you ever played BATTLEFIELD?
You know, the other big FPS with unique class roles and a huge emphasis on vehicle combat in PvP?
Ah yes my favorite character in Overwatch, HEAVY WEAPONS.
I mean, unless this was meant to just be a single mode, this wouldve been incredibly out of place for a mainline halo game anyways
Especially since 5 already veered away from the custom classes of 4
It's even funnier when people think that it's actually all that weird for a Halo game tbh
It is tho
Like, damn, I didn't know a gaggle of recalcitrant weirdos were the sole arbitrators of what Halo 'truly' was.
Utterly ridiculous and narcissistic fanbase behavior, one of the biggest reasons I criticize the childishness of the fanbase so much.
Fans are entitled to expect quality stuff when theyre paying for it
We owe nothing to 343, theyre a business, not your friend lol
Like, on the one hand, people criticize the franchise for chasing 'comp' players, but then try suuuuper hard to do everything they can to run towards it as hard as possible when criticizing possible franchise direction. It's so deeply unserious.
Like, make up your mind, dudes, do you want comp and rigid gameplay with extremely limited variety, or do you want options and fun? Because y'all keep choosing comp and rigid gameplay and saying it somehow isn't.
Honestly I could go off on how emphatically wrong the entire notion that Halo wouldn't be Halo if it let you have more options on spawn in any modes ad nauseam, but it's not like it'd change any minds, the sides are ridiculously entrenched.
didnt reach do that with invasion and loadouts in general? may be missing context cause i aint reading all that
Yes Reach had specific Invasion loadouts, down to Covenant and Spartans having major differences in available loadouts.
Halo 4 also had set default loadouts for a few modes, and honestly 5's Warzone mode would've been better without loadouts instead of what we got.
What floors me about the 'heroes' (Classes. Nobody names a damn hero shooter character "Recon" or "Heavy", unless people are finally willing to concede that Team Fortress 2 is a hero shooter) is that they had some abilities that had some really, really cool potential for showing what Spartans do that makes them the powerhouses they are.
Loadouts were not customizable on the level of 4's own system, tho it was still controversial at the time
(Just a friendly notice that I don't open blocked messages so if you've been saying anything related to what I'm saying I've been ignoring it)
Sure i believe ya lol
Looking through the exploration again; The Recon class seems pretty interesting, and if what I recall is a thing is a thing, the Tactical Visor was basically envisioned as a hybrid of Promethean Vision and ODST's VISR mode; The Active Cloak is obviously Active Camo, but it also had a much more noticeable profile to show that someone definetly had it; And the hacking module likely evolved into Halo Infinite's hacking thing that was in the final product.
In all fairness, this is in large part due to an article that released during 2022 that said earlier versions of the game were more akin to a "hero shooter"
I'm aware, I've been having arguments about this since 2022.
It was a stupid point for people to take then and it's stupid now.
As for the Heavy class, it had the Targeting VISR (So... Presumably aiming related and not intel related), a Rocket Pod backpack, and a defensive 'shield' module that sounds a lot like a hardlight shield.
The implication being that players had two active equipment abilities and one 'Visor' related ability that was likely more semi-passive.
I don’t think these people are halo fans so much as they are just refusing to play anything more complex then Tetris
Being charitable, yes.
I would say tourists but that’s rude
I was about to say no, they aren't, because most have played 3 or Reach-but considering how the gaming circles split back then, yeah, I'd say they're tourists. In the same way as a guy moving away from a tourist town then visiting it a decade or two later and complaining about things he wasn't even there to have input on.
Like I'd wager most of them haven't actually been seriously invested in the franchise in nearly a decade, they just want to piss and moan about how Halo 'ain't what I remember' or something.
I think halo studios needs to get better at filtering criticism. Battlefield made positive changes because it didn’t listen to every single talking point it got thrown
I have been in the labs discussions, there is no shortage of completely unhelpful information there
I've been seeing the same garbage takes since 2011 for Halo and frankly I kinda appreciate Bungie's response to a lot of it literally just making fun of you for having a bad take.
I like studios with the spine to ignore recalcitrant fanbases stuck in their ways to a degree that harms franchise growth.
Like you actually need to do stuff to improve, you can't just keep slinging out Halo 3 2. That glory day you ain't reliving. You can't.
I have been playing mass effect recently and I was impressed with the changes from 1 to 2
Well the actual way you explained it is no better tbh. Its still a far cry from the "equal starts" that they were boasting about with halo 5 previously
They were actually intuitive and needed
Like, half the reason CoD is still unreasonably popular is because they filtered what people liked most. There's a reason gun customization is so in-depth now, and it's because people liked having the option to tool around and make hyperniche loadouts.
i had the theory before but now i know in my heart that recalcitrant was on trenchbirds word of the day calendar
No, I just really like the word. It's one of my favorites.
Whereas all I ever hear from halo fans is “do it like halo 3”
Are we just new vegas fans at this point?
Other fun Trenchbird words include casette, fusillade, funicular, and a few others.
What does anyone even want anymore because I don’t want the same game over and over and now we are potentially locked into a remake of the OT
Not enough of us are trans or (cannot discuss due to server rules)
... Oh god. It's like if every FNV fanboy was a Legion stan. No wonder Halo fans rankle me.
There are two kinds of fnv fans and I’ll just say I much prefer ones that don’t Stan the legion
You know ones who can hold a convo
What pisses me off is that the whole exploration makes me wish for a game I never got and likely will never get.
We have soooo much cool equipment we'll never get to even see because people are allergic to new experiences.
If the ot gets remade and we get nothing actually new I will make a tea kettle sound and explode
NGL I'd probs call it quits around the time of Halo 2 Evolved
I barely tolerate Halo CECE because even if I dislike remakes out of principle, I tend to dislike remasters even more (Because I think it's wasted effort that would be better served with a simple standalone rerelease with some fluffed up cut content or better player tools)
I’m already frustrated with the current direction because remakes are almost always a waste of time
3 years or so development cycle for new and shiny version of a game
ill probs be in hibernation on official halo until they announce a spinoff or something. buying a 5th copy of ce doesnt make me particularly excited
Only for people to piss and moan because it has sprint now and that somehow 'ruins it'.
Oblivion? I didn’t mind too much because some things actually did improve. SH2? Didn’t mind because silent hill in general is aging. But combat evolved? Nope, go away
It aged fine
Ohoho don't even get me started on the stupid crap people whined about with the Oblivion remake
I’m sure we heard some of the same stuff dw
Probably a hot take but i think id rather have a soulless remake than a follow up to infinites nothing burger story with the endless
"Why aren't stats determined by gender anymore" being a big one that made me want to slap a few people for their inane culture warrior takes. Scratch a critic of that breed and a rage tourist bleeds.
I just want something new man
I want innovation not mimicry
It's not even mimicry, it's just reheated leftovers.
Your right mimicry is a valid survival strategy in nature
It's like when I reheat my chili the day after. At best I usually add some extra spice or something because I felt it was missing when I had it the day before, but it's still the same damn chili at the end of the day.
Me thinks in a happier timeline we wouldve gotten that f2p halo online project over a decade ago lol
And after a while, lemme tell you-you get real damn tired of eating chili.
In a happier world we’d be swimming in spin offs
TRUE
Lambast Star Wars but there is at least the variety there
Or Warhammer 40K.
Especially 40k
That’s why Star Wars is the best
Warhammer has racing games, it has FPS games, third person shooter games, RTS games, different RTS game versions, turn based strategy games, XCOM Clones, fully fleshed out RPGs, even a damn chess game.
It even has extremely crappy mobile shovelware.
I think I'm gonna go write down some ideas for expanding the trailer classes in line with the franchise as a whole.
That way I can at least pretend it happened :C
*was
Since they dont have that kinda variety anymore like in the lucasarts days 😭
I'm actually pretty excited for that speeder/podracing game tbh
Though I'd also love a sequel to the dogfighting game they made a few years ago
Squadrons
A new old Republic game was not on my list but probably the best news I could’ve hope for short of a battlefront 3
Im weary of the upcoming games but seeing how theyve also been doing remasters, i really hope they do one for the rogue squadron trilogy 🙏
You are welcome, a dash of reality is good for the soul 💖
Genuinely the first Star Wars project that got me a little interested in a while
(I watched Andor only after it was reccomended to me)
Should I buy Reach?
I believe letting other studios take a swing at Halo games in other genres would be one of the better ways to bring more people into the series
For MCC or 360?
360
The original version unless online is gone for it
I think I have enough for MCC
Sure, but you will only get offline stuff
The other Star Wars games, I wish to be remastered would be "Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2".
Nevermind it is no longer on sale 😭
This is actually plausible. The first games remaster is bruddy good
I just bought Reach for $2.49 but it’s for pc and I’m using Linux
😭
I’m gonna refund that
Man I really hate suicide grunts with a burning passion.
I encountered them for the first time in Halo 3 campaign co-op with my brother lol
Both times I matched Deadlock for firefight tonight, spawned with M41 SPNKr and Cindershot!!!
Slightly scary first hill on that first Deadlock match.
Last Stand.
Didn’t lose the match, don’t worry, but we ever so nearly lost that first hill.
Master Chief level luck
Good to hear

I may not have luck like that ever again lol.
I believe I even got a perfection on both of those matches.
I consider having M41 SPNKr and Cindershot together as “god combo”.
And if I have Tracker and Backdraft Cinder, that’s the super “god combo”.
Honestly, I'm kinda shocked Halo Studios didn't just launch MCC on PlayStation followed with a Halo 3 Anniversary announcement. Halo 3 anni has been left behind and that announcement alone would draw loads of eyes back onto Halo, alot more then a CE remake IMO considering how much everyone loves Halo 3. Hopefully Halo 3 Anni on the table for 2027 since 2017 was swerved super hard before.
I’m making a halo reach tribute, if you wanna have your helmet in it, just DM me the version of it on the ground post death from both the start and end of the game, if you need I got examples
Purging Shock Rifle and Arcane SB are also fantastic in firefight. Again, I wish the ASB (arcane sentinel beam) had a bigger magazine. Zap a whole group of fodder, easy killtrocity+. Melt major enemies!
Arcane does have a quick reload though.
Considering how badly 343 struggled with the mcc for nearly a decade, i doubt they wanna go through another disaster like that for their playstation debut
Im willing to bet its a lot easier and less riskier for them to just remake the campaigns of the classic 3 games on ue5
Halo 3 Anniversary would need to have been in development for it to have been left behind. Given they never started work on a H3A, can't really act like it was something they left behind
Really sucks to think that 343i's past fumbles are still kicking Halo in the nuts today.
I think you're drawing the wrong meaning from my words. I have no idea if H3A was ever being made but it was very clearly dodged considering it was never made.
You specifically used the phrasing "Halo 3 anni has been left behind", which implies it was in the works. It never was
It was likely thought about and tossed around for years tho. They made remasters of halo 1 and 2, i dont believe 3 was NEVER on the table for them
Oh, I have no doubt it was discussed, but I don't agree with phrasing it like it was something in active development and then "left behind"
Speaking of fumbles, i wouldnt be surprised if we get this redone trilogy before a proper sequel announcement for infinite. Considering what happened with infinite and the """reclaimer trilogy""", theyre gonna need all the time they can get
I doubt they're going to remake the original trilogy and then start work on Halo 7. Makes more sense to do something similar to Resident Evil where there's a remake and a new game one after the other
Pershap
I've never made it seem like it as in active development. Again I think you're taking the wrong idea with my words for some reason. If I said "Halo 3 Anni was totally being made and 343i stopped' that would be me saying that. Not sure what you're getting at.
Either way, if there was ever a halo 3 anni being planned or talked about, its certainly not happening now. Theyre gonna remake it for sure
What I'm getting at is your phrasing implies as such. Plenty of people could easily misinterpet what you said as Halo 3 Anniversary having been in active development. In this community, you have to be careful how you word things
Even if they did interpret it that way why would it matter? I very highly doubt people are waiting for some random dude on a Halo Discord to mention Halo 3 anni half offishly at 3 AM and going to run with it as some kind of truth speaking.
You'd be surprised
Like, I've been here a long time and seen people misinterpret even the most basic things regarding Halo
And if H3A was released in 2017, which engine would its multiplayer have been put on?
Assuming they did do a multiplayer for it, I imagine it'd be running on a modified Halo 5 engine
Either that or an updated version of H2A MP
man with such a big server as this a halo meme channel would have been great
its hard finding good ones nowadays
There’s the halo subreddit for that
they're always just complaining abt everything
We can live without a memes channel here... There's plenty of pinned messages in #general-chat which explain why we don't have one
NGL I mostly hang out around Grimdank if I want some memes of any kind. 40k has alot of cross pollination with it's memes so it's fine there. One of the best ones I've seen in a long time was an EDF vs 40k meme. Never in my life did I expect to se EDF memes but here I am.
this being a big server is almost entirely the reason that we dont have a memes channel. people misbehave enough as it is
And most people’s memes would probably suck
Not my memes though, mine are good
I just can't share them here because they're not Halo memes
the only good meme is because you begged
Stay low. Let me draw the heat. Just deliver that package.
ah waht
found it.
Funny how one of my all time favorite pieces of music in Halo isn't even originally from Halo
Either way, Micheal Salvatori doesn't get enough credit for composing this
Old school myth.
Halo Reach FFA Snipers is actually pure ragebait 😔
I am pretty firmly in the camp which thinks "Halo 5's soundtrack has too much repetition and not many songs are able to stick out"
In the game this song narrowly avoids that trap, but on its own it is great
How many reports of same type in infinite multiplayer before a player gets temp banned?
Been awhile since I made an update on playthrough of Halo Infinite so I'll say I cleared all the Banished Outposts. I think.
How long have y’all survived Lone Wolf for on each difficulty?
I'm on the mission Beacon with two out of beacons activated.
3 beacons done only one more.
And I'm done for the day.
id like to eventually see halo 5 guardians added to the MCC as i like the game and wish it was on steam in some way shape or form
If halo 5 was added to mcc it would make gamepass essential way worse
Cuz I think halo 5 is a reason why people bother to get gamepass essential
Never happening for a few reasons;
- MCC is not the most stable thing behind the scenes, trying to add another game into that would be a terrible idea and potentially break everything
- It would double the file size of MCC, as Halo 5 is around the same size as MCC is
- MCC is a collection of FPS Halo games from before the Xbox One released, it doesn't make sense to add a game which released after to the collection
- Allot of systems in Halo 5 would need to be reworked to work within MCC, such as the REQ system
I think that Halo Infinite should've had a battle pass similar to Heroes of Reach but with the Halo 5 main characters
Like I know they already added all of Osiris in the Exchange (except Tanaka), but the price is STEEP and I think a battle pass with both all of Osiris and Blue Team would be really fun
I don't think they'll be making a change like that at this point. Especially since you don't need to pay any real money to obtain the Osiris armour sets due to them being in the Exchange
It's just a bit of a grind (Which is something people wanted more of, stuff to grind for within Halo Infinite)
You can buy the Osiris fireteam bundle from store credits
Hence why I said "you don't need to pay any real money", since they are also in the Exchange. Where you use points you earn in game to get stuff
If they had properly added Gen 2 armor to the game instead of making it all armor pieces that just get tact on to Armor cores like mark 7 (which don’t properly fit the style), they could’ve gone down the battle pass route for team Osiris and Blue team armor
Well yeah I know they stopped making new battle passes and new seasons I was just saying it would've been cool to have
True
Sangheili
All species we have encountered as playable characters 🤘😎 best halo game ever 😝
Really wish we had playable elites again
And tbh i wish theyd let us play as other covenant as well. Make it for a new firefight mode kinda like doom eternal's battlemode which let you play as the demons
It would be so awesome to play as a Hunter dude
I want that so bad
The brutes would also be freakishly cool to play as
YES
Eternal's battlemode would fit right in with halo's party game elements. Imagine a team of 4 playing as the officers of the covenant, assisted by npc grunts, all working together to hunt down a single spartan player
That needs to be attempted 🙏
You can do this in Reach Firefight
Playable elites on MCC.
Yez i remember
That shouldve been expanded upon with more playable covies
Any body up to vrchat
I don’t get why people say that Halo 4 controls terribly… it controls the same as any other Halo games.
Sprint is a bit slippery is the main one I've seen people say
It mostly feels faster and more like COD with the sprint, loadouts, and ordnance.
You cam go from one side of the map to the other fairly quickly compared to older Halos.
It also has decent physics, but if I remember correctly some physics were missing in 4 from older titles.
Oh. I always never compare it to COD. I always said it controls the same as any other Halo game pre-Halo 5
In that scenario, it'd be better just to add it to pc.
It played nothing like COD. Sprinting and loadouts were never something which was only a COD thing, even back in 2012, and ordinance was pretty different to kill streaks by the fact that it wasn't doing stuff like summoning a helicopter or an air strike or a swarm of dogs, it was just summoning a weapon or power up. It wasn't great but let's not pretend it was the same as something from COD
What do you mean loadouts were never something?
I said "Sprinting and loadouts were never something which was only a COD thing", don't purposely ignore the rest of the sentence
Many Halo fans said it plays less like Halo and more like modern shooters like COD.
Just stating what most people say about Halo 4. Even if you don't agree, a lot of people said that about 4.
Tbh, it playing less like Halo made it more enjoyable. Was tired of Halo gameplay pre 4. Reach was the closest due to having armor abilities that included sprint (even though it’s dumb to make something like sprint an armor ability. That’s the same as arguing for having crouch as a armor ability)
Lore wise... sprint shouldn't exist or be an armor ability.
Spartans can sprint and fire accurately.
That was always my problem with Pre-4/Reach gameplay
Spartans never really felt like Spartans in gameplay until armor abilities, sprint, and the mechanics from 5 got added
You could’ve literally just changed the genre or setting to something more modern and less sci-fi and there wouldn’t be a difference because of how simple it is
I mean compare the release date of 5 and CE.
I an pretty sure bungie would have done something different with Halo if they had the IP today.
It would’ve been Destiny 2 if they had it today
Just without RPG mechanics
And Infinite, despite having these mechanics, like I’ve mentioned before, just doesn’t feel as engaging or good as 5 nor as good to look at
Minus a few mechanics
Pretty sure what Destiny 2 is currently is basically exactly where Halo would've ended up had Bungie stayed on
I know. That’s why I said Destiny 2
However I don’t think they’d actually change the genre like Ubisoft did with AC
I replied to the wrong person by mistake
For as much as people complain about 343, it’s genuinely better Halo stayed with them over Bungie despite the flaws and issues
Now if only 343 would just ditch the classic artstyle and go back to a more original direction
Well MS ditched 343. So hopefully HS stays true to Halo.
Hopefully. Just hope it doesn’t get stuck clinging to the past and making everything look and feel the same
At some point you gotta actually change it and take it in a new direction
Nobody was ditched, the studio rebranded
Better way to phrase it thanks! However isn't most of the old studio gone? Mostly the higher ups from what I heard.
Staff come and go all the time, no more or less than most games companies. Leadership changed before the rebrand, staff are still there that have been there for a while
I finally made it to the mission House of Reckoning in Halo Infinite.
Don't you dare take away sprint, I'm out at that point and I'm an original fan, I'm not going back to just walking, that's wack fools, bring back sangheili
hey, a friend and i are trying to play and he cant join me or be ivited, it doesnt happen with anyone else. he is joining on steam and we are both on steam
MCC SWAT is kinda gone too sweaty lol. I remember when it was a relatively chill game mode a few months ago.
Cod popularized it though, youre really just dodging the problem here
People didnt like the stripping of Halo's identity through the use of customizable loadouts and killstreak-esque weapon drops. Even if COD didnt create these concepts (which literally no one here is claiming anyways), its pretty clear the devs were going after the COD crowd through these changes
I'm fighting the Harbringer but how do I beat her she's basically a god in this game.
Wow she's fast and tough.
I did it! I won!
Harbringer is gone for good.
For now I'm done with Halo Infinite.
I played Halo CE Coop with a guy who only plays on Normal
I had severe technical difficulties on my computer rendering me unable to play, so it was all up to this newb that only plays on normal do this on Legendary
He flipping did it! He completed one of the longest and hardest missions without me and I am so proud of him!
Assault on the Control Room
I think loadouts would be cool, and you’d get to customize stuff which is awesome
I’d love for there to be another Halo 4 loadout game. Personally imo it’s the most fun one of the MCC. Criminally slept on.
Myu issue with loadouts in 4 is mostly that they don't really go far or strict enough.
I think something more in line with Battlefield would make more sense with Halo.
This would honestly be best for a spin off, but its best for mainline halo to continue having its identity
Like i can see loadouts being for another odst spin off or a battlefield-esque take on halo, but not the main games with chief. Unless they make it exclusive to a mode like invasion which i think is absolutely possible to exist alongside the classic arena style modes
It would be so cool though
Put actual sights on the MA40, get a belt fed commando, use different ammos for the M90, so many fun possibilities
Sounds like Halo 5 warzone
Those would be very much at home in an odst game, since thats where attachments for these weapons made their debut
Halo 4 and 5 did it, I think halo 7 should do it in multiplayer, but better, like trenchbird said. More like Battlefield.
Halo 4 did it and no one liked it
Halo 5 forced it into a mode which is the correct way to do it imo
Exactly
Lol in my previous firefight match, a rocket 360’d around and still hit the phantom. Hilarious.
(I had M41 Tracker of course)
Having semi-strict restrictions on who can equip what when and where, with tactical niches, is generally the best way to actually balance a game with a sandbox like Halo's. It's why I tend to be strictly "Go for Battlefield".
Part of where 4 failed, the part where everyone allegedly "hated it" (citation needed. Badly. Nobody ever provides the 'Everyone' considering all of Halo's competition that dramatically overshadowed it in popularity had even more extensive customization at the time.), was that the class system didn't jive well with the limited-yet-unlimited style of loadouts. Your choices weren't distinct, and moreover were not customizable in their own right.
And you can see why with simple observation of where Call of Duty and Battlefield moved in order to hold their popularity.
=Break=
Battlefield chose a route that made equipment selection more strict (BF3 to BF4 to BF1), which was generally received well, as despite the lower amount of customization, players still ultimately had a lot of leeway within their chosen role and frequently, the primary determined your entire playstyle as much as your equipment, rather than most classes having a roughly identical way of playing.
Call of Duty chose a much less limited customization scheme; Able to drop or add anything you wanted, with vastly increasingly character and equipment customization, including the ability to stack multiple perks and choose to go entirely without a weapon. This allows for players to have an extreme amount of control over how they play their game, with gimmick loadouts allowing for entirely different ways to play the game in a set playstyle. For example, one could run a loadout entirely centered around melee, with no real benefit to using guns, while another could stack themselves to be the ultimate sniper, and change between the two on a respawn.
Compared to the former, Halo 4's loadouts were ultimately not very impactful to how you played, with the only real factors affecting playstyle being things that would be subject to change swiftly in normal gameplay (Can my primary headshot; Can my access to power weapons be affected), with the only semi-static defining factor of your overall strategy being your armor ability-which ran the gamut from gimmick (Sentry) to borderline overpowered (Promethean Vision), with no drawback beyond bringing a less-universally-effective loadout.
And conversely compared to the latter, Halo 4's loadouts were again exceptionally close-ended, with your end play style even with an armor ability choice being largely no different beyond what gun was on your screen. As it lacked the deeper customization and thus didn't allow you to find a specific player-directed niche, it forced you to engage in a very similar playstyle no matter the environment or battle.
At the end of the day, Halo 4's loadout system was a halfhearted attempt at trying to stay true to 'classic' Halo-having a very limited pool of possible starting guns and minimally-impactful choice-and trying to 'modernize' Halo by adding more opportunities for player expression in gameplay. While a good goal-and one proven successful by dozens of games at this point-the lack of actual meaningful change dramatically negatively impacted the popularity of the system.
Sticking with the arena style would be a negative because ultimately, battle royale type shooters are the philisophical endgame of such a gameplay experience; Expressions of power location and item control against random faceless enemies as a contest ultimately perceived as skill.
Not going hard enough into spawn characteristic/loadout customization would also be a negative (As displayed by Infinite) as the reason other games draw crowds with the feature is due to the depth of expression, allowing for more 'favored' playstyles to be expressed more often, resulting in a more broad appeal-even if the end effect is meta chasing, which is not a feature of human psychology that will leave.
tl;dr, don't go with a half measure, it only leads to tears.
the size thing actually would not be a problem on pc as i dont know how it is on console as you can uninstall and reinstall games while the game is open and changing mcc to include the REQ system would actually benefit MCC in the long run as i personally think the REQ system is better then the current system mcc has and having it along side all the gamemodes and feature mcc has already would be benefitial to the players giving people countless way to earn packs
I’d say a good fix for the Req system is make earning req points easier to make opening Req packs more frequent while eliminating the ability to buy Req packs with real money. And the ability to buy certain Req pack depends on rank meaning new players can only open bronze packs no matter how many Req points they amass until they reach a high enough rank to start opening silver packs and then rinse and repeat until the gold and platinum packs
I think I agree with this
Halo Infinite's gameplay formula was pretty solid IMO. Room for improvement was there, but I think it made the right first step. I'd wanna see Halo 7 evolve it further.
But for spin-offs, you have a lot more freedom
Mainly because you don't have the expectations of how a main release game should/should not play
I think a Battlefront style Halo game would be really cool. Letting players partake in massive battles that really sell the scope of the universe while also letting them play as characters or species they otherwise wouldn't get to play
Not to mention all the vehicles and weapons you could introduce
There are the obvious things like Marines, ODSTs, Brutes, Elites, ect. but you could also get a lot more expremental with species/classes like Grunts, Drones, Crawlers, Jackals, or Promthean Knights
You could have proper fleet battles
Or really flesh out what levels like Metropolis or Tip of the Spear were doing
hey friends i was just wondering where i can find advertisements, announcements, and promotions of Halo Reach and content releated to such for research. if this is not the right place to ask for this i would appreciate if you could point me to the direction where i can ask
thanks friends
Ig Youtube is as good a place to start as any
I know some of you will disagree with me but I think my big issue with Halo 4 and (especially) Halo 5's UNSC artstyle is how so much of it feels over-produced/lacks that utilitarian feeling found in earlier games. I've had this line of thinking in the back of my mind for a while now, but there was one specific comment from an artist that really struck me. It was about the Halo 4 Battle Rifle design and how impractical the shape of the metal on the side of the gun would be.
Obviously, that is one example, but I do think it kind of is a decent microcosm for my issues with some of the designs. There is still plenty of stuff like, especially the vehicles and some of the weapons. Hell, I actually like the Halo 4 Battle Rifle design (not as much as the Halo 4 DMR, though)
An example I've kind of latched on to is how a lot of the industrial envrionments look in Halo 5. Think Merdian's mining platforms or Warzone maps like "Escape from A.R.C."
To be clear, they aren't bad designs so much as I think they kind of veer too far off from Halo's grounded roots. In the original games, 3 and Reach especially, industrial envrionments felt a lot more tangable. Sure, they had futuristic sliding doors and equipment, but the look and feel of the locations still felt familiar. You could immidately understand what the places were and what they did. Meanwhile, Halo 5's version of these environments felt way too unfamiliar. Which isn't bad for Covenant and Forerunner locations, but I do think kind of negatively hurts areas like these
There are still aspects of the designs which I like and/or think fit this vibe well. But as I said, a lot of it veers too far away into being a lot more fantastical than grounded.
I am sure some of you think the opposite, that Halo's human environments should be more out-there and futuristic, but for me personally I like a bit of balance
My problem is the reverse. Older USNC was so utilitarian I frankly felt like I was looking at just the military but in space and not a sci-fi humanity at times
Tbh I like 5’s industrial location designs more than the previous games because of how they pushed for a futuristic and less grounded/relativistic style
This is a sci-fi universe, I don’t want to see stuff that looks like something we could tangibly have in a decade or two just because the UNSC wants to be so “utilitarian”
Besides the classic artstyle just being uninteresting or not cool looking, especially with Chiefs armor, this was also what kept me from being interested in Halo cause the UNSC just looked like the military in space with light sci-fi elements tact onto designs and things that already exist. I’m not looking for that in a sci-fi
I think that does kind of overlook why it is that way. The UNSC looked familiar so that the Covenant, Forerunners, and the Halo ring itself felt all the more unfamiliar
I mean the Covenant are literal aliens, and the Forerunners just have a lot of angular shaped structures. You don’t need the UNSC to look super familiar to make that unfamiliar
Well I mean, it worked pretty well in the games
Also you do not have to ping me everytime I post something
Not to mention other Sci-Fi’s have space faring humanities that are futuristic while retaining a human touch whether it be Mass Effect, some Call of Duty Sci-fi’s, Warframe, Titanfall, Armored Core, etc.
The games I had no interest in growing up because of how uninteresting and “uncool” they looked to me with their generic military designs for the heroes?
Well, I guess they worked for most gamers given how well they sold
And then they sold more upon 4 and 5 when they changed cause those have have made more each than 2 with 5 breaking records upon release so the artstyle change wasn’t considered that bad by many
eh I think the reaction was a bit more split. Yes they sold well, that is undeniable. But you also had major setbacks with both releases
Not to mention how they didn't make waves the same way the originals did. I do like a lot about Halo 4 and Halo 5, though for different reasons. But at the same time they did alienate a lot of players
And yet the franchise continued growing with 5, again, breaking records in its first week alone and being rated highly
Please stop pinging me
4 and 5 literally broke Microsoft sale records
I am aware
So they definitely made waves
But what happened after launch
They still received updates and continued making sales
Halo 4's playerbase died out thanks to stiff competition and lacking features
And 5 had one of the best Forge’s and best game mode for Halo ever made
Halo 5's campaign left a lot of players feeling burned (i can attest to this. I don't think I really got invested in Halo again till like 2018)
I didn’t care for the campaign but it’s understandably frustrating however my interest died the moment I saw Infinite was just going to revert Halo to classic for some nostalgia
Yes Halo 5's MP was pretty good, but Warzone's MTX was a source of backlash, and game modes were missing for months
Like, it took them until the final update in 2017 to put Oddball into the game
5’s MP is considered the best
Which is kind of crazy to think about
I think that is far more debatable than you claim
It is definitely closer to the top after a year and a half of updates
But many people will still vouch for Halo 2 or Halo 3
Halo Reach's social community was very strong
Yes, but that is your opinion
Many people still swear by those games, and it isn't because they are simply blinded by nostalgia or hate change
Just as you liking Halo 5 doesn't make you a corpo-shill or "fake fan"
I just beat regret on legendary solo for the first time i hav e beaten it in coop before and man i must say i am very terrified for gravemind that was a multi hour mission and the regret rng failures didnt help my struggle
pray for my soul everyone
ok
Ironically enough i think Infinites early class based hero shooter-esque concepts wouldve been amazing for a spin off

Especially since as i said before, Team Fortress already pulled it off and funny enough, that game was also built off of the dna of arena shooters
I can see some seriously fun classes and sub-classes being made out of the whacky designs and weapons of the covenant versus the simpler and more pragmatic marines and spartans, without the need to "balance" things based on a competitive equal starts arena shooter
so i've only recently have played through the entire bungie-era set of games didn't play halo 4, playing infinite rn
dont play 5 xd
i won't buy a god damn xbox just to see locke and chief beat up each other like drunk men
i'm on pc lmao
and they ruined bucks story lol
is veronica even alive after halo 5
did you just play the campaigns casually or did you play on heroic or legendary
on normal yeah
i dont remember tbh
i played pretty much every camp on normal, i do plan on playing on heroic
well im not that amazing at the games but i do have the legendary under 3 hours achievements for odst reach and ce ive been practicing the harder difficulties
would you ever try it coop? i find coop legendary a very fun experience because unlike solo you can respawn cheese
i'm not that amazing at halo either, but i am very stubborn and i do like hard games
i played halo 3 and reach with my friend
was very fun
the amount of gags that happened is astronomical
yeah the gags are good for sure.. i wanna play the games in the chronilogical order someday ie. reach before ce and just try adn beat them all on legendary with what i know possibly with a friend but its still a work in progress since i havent done so much halo 2 and 3 legendary ive done 3 on heroic but yeah got alot to learn still
i like the cutscenes
halo reach and halo 3 odsts and the few missions ive done in halo 3 are definitely the easiest for legendary
She's not only still alive, she got married to Buck after Halo 5
cool
Subjective opinion for sure. But I do tend to agree.
why my message deleted
Yes
reminded me of the h2 rockets.
Halo combat evolved is common out in PS5 it should come out in Nintendo Switch too
It's confirmed only in PS5, zero information to see it in other consoles
If you heard it somewhere, it's not confirmed
Battle rifle my beloved
I think the Promethean weapons had their animations downgraded from Halo 4 to Halo 5
Or more specifically their reloads
Idk why the Incineraton Canon lost those cool lights
Also I think they overdid it with the floaty bits. The Boltshot and Binary Rifle lost a bit of the punch they had in Halo 4 (especially the Binary Rifle)
And the Lightrifle, Suppressor, and Scattershot reloads feel a lot slower
It did feel different from 4 and 5, like they were made to feel less powerful
As much as people cry and whine about it, people actually do like jigglebones on things.
To each their own ig
They look cool when using ADS
But I greatly prefer how weapons like the Binary Rifle reload in Halo 4
Outside of very minor changes, such as the positioning of the left hand when closing up the Light Rifle after loading the ammo into it or where the scope floats to on the Binary Rifle, the animations for reloading the Promethean weapons are the same
They are similar, yes, but the devil is in the details
If you really think the Halo 5 animations are a downgrade, you must be seeing something I'm not
Because I can assure you, nobody is looking at those animations and thinking there's anything inherantly worse about them
It is more preference than anything
I just prefer the ones in 4
I don't think 5's Promethean reloads are abad FTR
Should also mention that I have poured a ton of time in Halo 4 over the course of last year, and so a lot of it is fresher in my mind
I should also add that Halo 5's weapon animations are generally fantastic with one or two exceptions
I love the idle animations for the Storm Rifle and Gravity Hammer. The reloads for the SMG, Rocket Launcher, Carbine, and especially the Plasma Castor are also favorites
The little "click" sound as you reload the magazine of the Plasma Castor is so good
In infinite ammo firefight matches, with power weapons, apparently your guns can still get ammo pickups… it’s weird.
And it sometimes consumes the pickup… like it’s an infinite ammo match, don’t need to collect any extras.
I know it is kind of a non-issue, but does anybody else think putting a screen on the back of the needler was redundant?
Like, you can already see how much ammo you have left because of how there are needles sticking out of the top
I like the look of the Infinite needler (especially the reloads) but that bit always made me scratch my head a little bit
is there a mcc steam channel? I've got 4 PC crashes in a row when loading a match
