yeah sometimes being aggressive in ranked pays off but you have to know when the right time is. I thin Aquarius Slayer took me the longest to understand

its a small map and if you push alone you are always running into 2 enemies

Depending what core you want to use. If you want stuff for the rakshasa core. Then season 2. If you want a bunch of reach era stuff then the first battlepass or the free winter update pass is only 30 tiers but has a bunch of good stuff. Season 3 is for the mirage core. And season 4 is hazmat. Each season gives stuff to the mark 7 core so I'd scroll through them to see which has what you'd want most if that's the core you plan on using

I'm pretty sure it's not the case. Your placement journey would be quite different as you are seeding with a 900 MMR (and 300 sigma) instead of your current MMR (and likely lower sigma). But people tried. And while some came out with different post placement ranks (which you could expect) - I don't think anyone clearly showed they could attain a higher rank in the end.

If the code wasn't implemented this way, you'd have to lead your shoes depending on your level of ping, which wouldn't be preferable for many people. Unfortunately, lag compensation can hurt when a user has a particularly high ping... but it's the lesser of two evils, I guess.

Halo Infinite is the only online multiplayer game I have this issue with, so I don't know what to tell you guys at this point. I get it, lag happens, but in Infinite the issue seems particularly pronounced

I notice it in every game I play. CoD is way worse for it, probably because of its lower kill time.

If everyone is on a low ping, it doesn't occur to a noticeable amount, however.

You should have a look at your ping in Infinite whenever this noticeably occurs. It's probably 100ms or higher.
You can't tell what your opponent's ping is though.

The only networking oddity I notice in Infinite is behaviour consistent with packet loss, yet I've 0% packet loss occurring. It's particularly egregious in BTB.

Maybe it's just more noticable in Infinite for whatever reason. My ping doesn't go into the hundreds. I can go play MCC and won't notice this, but in Infinite the issue is glaringly obvious.

I'm telling you guys, I've played online games since they became a thing and it's been a long time since I've had issues like I've had with Infinite. I get that lag is a thing and no game will ever be 100% perfect, but for whatever reason in Infinite lag doesn't feel like the only factor

It's like I can feel the server rolling back time about a second to give my opponent the kill, and I don't notice it when I get a kill because I'm seeing what the server wants

I think what you’re describing is the desync where the server is making proactive steps to counteract what it’s interpreting as lag. My understanding is infinite has a unique issue with this.

That's the issue I'm talking about. That is what feels unique to Infinite. How they made the server handle this issue is what makes me feel like I'm dying around corners to things I shouldn't be dying to more often than is acceptable

I've uninstalled and come back to Infinite several times since launch, but if they managed to fix this issue I don't think I would ever uninstall it again because when it works it's so much fun

Anyone else think they should completely divorce exp from weekly challenges, and instead grant small amounts of credits for completing them? Say, 10 cr for gray, 15 cr for dark blue, 20 cr for light blue. You'd be able to make about 125 cr per week, so it would take time to build up enough to save up for a whole bundle, but you might be able to pick up something smaller once a week or two.

I know this is a late response, but you're one of the very few people that actually understands the general concept of how the matchmaking works. In the Call of Duty series, the developers mention that connection is always the priority and skill is the lesser extent of the matchmaking process.

That's why you hear people complain about the belief of the skill-based matchmaking being increased in that one Call of Duty game in 2019. That was because crossplay was added. More people equals more accurate skill pairings.

In the case of Halo Infinite, the skill pairings are going to be all over the place. There could be a match where I'm going against Mint and another where I'm going against a nearsighted 3-year-old.

For Oddball specifically, maybe you get points for sticking near the carrier, or killing people attacking them or near them.
Would incentivies teams to stick together and defend instead of one person running off to go do their own thing.

best way to do something about that is to just cap the maximum score you can get towards your career rank, just like in MCC there was a maximum amount you could get per match.

but sometimes it can be more effective if you don't do it from close. For instance that map that is inspired by Midship (forgot the name). The ballholder often hides under one of the 'towers', so he/she isn't in a line of sight. But if you protect there you box yourself in for nadespam and will lose the objective. Best there is to stand a bit further away and kill people from across the map. But those wouldn't count then, even though that would have been way more effective to defend the objective.

depends how high the cap is. Most better players in BTB already score high points when they implemented the career rank. Scores of 4000+ where not rare, but basicly common already. So perhaps cap it at 3000 or so? The better players would get the maximum score already by playing normally. In fact, it would even incentivice them more to end the match, because the longer it takes, the less points they can get, since they can play less matches.

I think it depends on the timing of the quit? If it's early enough then the CSR changes are locked in.

A day or so ago we actually won 3v4 when someone quit before the game started. I only got 5 CSR for the win. Although there is also the chance that was all I earnt for my part of the win anyway.

and when you're zoomed in, the reticle is larger so it's easier to tell when to pull the trigger for the fastest rate of fire you can have

They were literally doing call outs and setting up kill lines across the map and watching each other. Yep and the crappy excuse of "i use an alt to play with freinds" is just beyond pathetic. So what if people get stomped? it's quickplay/dredge 24/7. I lose all the time because my mmr is so high i have to literally carry bronze/no ranked newbies all the time. My freind gets stomped with me often but who cares, we have fun together. I despise alt accounts abusing the match making system and wish they'd get banned along with they're main accounts.

Most people I see who most would think are cheating have something like 8500 games under their belts and usually just sit in the back with the sniper weapons, picking off the no-gamers on my team.
Push in on them and they die same as everyone else.

Havent run into anyone who instantly snapshots or does stuff thats suspicious, and they all die the same to the grappleshot backsmack, especially if you sneak up on em right.

I might have seen someone with an aimbot ONCE, but it was in Big Team Heavies so the moment he grabbed the Shock Rifle (whys it always the shock rifle too for that matter) he would simply cease to exist because we had...six vehicles operating at once?

Random opinion: I have motivation to play Halo Infinite based on the number of challenges I can complete. However, even with the premium passes, I feel that there isn't enough of them. It would be neat if we had more than one daily challenge and possibly the addition of bi-weekly challenges.

When a Fireteam enters matchmaking, the system will offset the CSR based on the size of the Fireteam (more players in Fireteam means a greater offset). For example, this means that a Fireteam of 4 will match against higher CSR players, but only in the case fireteam sizes are imbalanced between teams. The philosophy behind this is that a Fireteam with 2 or more players will have a greater chance of winning against a team of solos due to the teamwork, coordination, communication, etc that comes with Fireteams. This offset is meant to account for those natural advantages that Fireteams have.

my guess is the CSR system is just not working right with these 4 stacks and players they know have low MMR are reaching much higher ranks then they should purely due to communication

then again is it wrong to have a high CSR plainly becausee you are communicating well? arguably not
