As of landjut patch, plane guns got their DPS nerfed. I think this change is bad because without the missile hitting, it is not possible to kill a 4hp heli in one run, meaning opening with a 30pt recon heli will more often than not let you see the entire enemy opener with barely any counterplay, as opener ASF wont be able to stop it unless it rolls the chance to hit the missile.

Agreed it was not a necessary change and should be reverted. Ground AA with a 50% hit chance has multiple opportunities to reengage in the case of a miss via their ROF and reload mechanic. A shotgun ASF is basically 2 missiles and then has to do laps though enemy AA to try and reengage. The 150 point ASF should be able to kill a 30 point recon heli dependably on one pass.
im actually not sure why this change was even done... it doesnt change any interactions with the expensive 8hp helis, it only buffs 4hp helis for no reason.
(i say no reason, because 4hp helis arleady have a massive availability and cost advantage, its fine if planes kill them reliably)

It's very silly, if anything plane guns should have had their DPS buffed. The whole point of modern aircraft guns is generally to shit out as much damage as possible in the shortest amount of time.
Something like the GSh-6-23 fires 10000 rounds of 23mm per minute compared to the ~2000 of something like ZU-23. It would make sense for plane guns to do the damage they should instead of being nerfed.
Risking the plane for a strafing run is already often not worth it for more expensive jets.
Ehh… I admit I’m a helo enjoyer but… disagree. Keep the plane gun nerf. It’s a slight buff for helos in the absence of several other things helos need.
Everyone seems to want instant death to helos in one run when that rarely happens or is avoidable to other units.
Maybe if helos were more maneuverable/evasive and actually stayed at low altitude through waypoints, then it would be fine instant death to helos at high altitude from planes.
Tanks can move to evade cluster bombs, but helos can’t evade strafing runs. If you change helo behavior so they can evade at low altitude, then un-nerf the plane guns
What helos do to evade plane guns is having AA and ASF cover, if they don't have that they should get absolutely mauled by planes. If anything they were already far too survivable being able to tank a missile hit or quite a lot of gun fire.
Or flying at low altitude so plane radars and pilot eyeballs can’t see them, which they can’t do in WARNO. 😉
Mig 21 bis will still obliterate apache, all this nerf does is make some select planes extremely weak for no reason and also buffs crappy 4hp spam helis. This isnt the grand apache buff you were waiting for, unfortunately.
It probably warrants further testing tbh, i base my opinion on missile+gun still killing 8hp helis and 4hp helis needing a missile to be killed now.
Radars already don't see helicopters in this game. If they did things would be a lot more fun.
