This was specifically to address the operator, but it could be used on any unit I guess. It would be nice to see some sort or rescue or revive system. If my operator dies, just respawning him doesn’t make it feel .. Consequential. They should have long respawn timers. When you go down, there sound be an option to recover the body, maybe similar to the DNA function for scientists, but for medics. You recover the unit , it decreases respawn time and unit cost, and restores some lost xp. I noticed a lot of people like to set up QRFs, maybe this will make them have more value. You could carry this to basic units to, maybe you retrieve them, bring them to the med tend and you can buy the unit back from the med tent at cheaper price. They will also keep their levels.

I was thinking of suggesting something similar but it seems you've beat me to it! I was thinking of the amount of times my operator has died, from a spitter or infection, in the middle of a group of allies or behind the base walls. It would be nice to have some sort of system where an operator can get incapacitated with a bleed out timer.
like in age of empires 3. where your "hero" would be in a downed state until a friendly unit gets near and "revives" hero. there are up sides and down sides to that. currently there is no "max limit" to how many custom operators you can have on field. I could see this functionality totally abused if you have alot of operators fully leveled and kitted out but with a bleed out timer that would negate the abuse, other players may just want to die and rebuild vs having a wait timer for bleed out and then rebuildable, a discussion could be had in regards to this matter though, but currently if hero (operator) dies they dont lose any levels or abilities. As a role player I could see the benefit of having to go into a deep hostile territory to rescue said operator.
I support this idea! Kinda reminds me of Rainbow Six: Extraction, but in a good way! 🤣
