#Textures not showing/incomplete for some models

Might be a dumb question, but did you install the GPU Drivers for your card on Linux? The proprietary one? And what brand?

#

If it's Nvidia Proprietary, it might not support DirectX fully. Hence why there might be problems, I'm not completely sure but I think Cepheus Protocol uses DirectX

#

You maybe have to try the Proton Experimental version and see if that improves things

Im running AMD 7800xt, ive just checked the driver and they are all the latest. ill try the experimental proton to see if that helps.

just an update, no change when using experiemental. The textures resolve when using proton 7 but this introduces a game breaking issue of stuttering over the city.

#

is there any logs i can check for some insight? ive checked the proton.log but nothing sticks outs.

Could you try experimental again or proton 9 and try changing the graphics settings a bit lower?

#

I'm just doing guess work here right now though

#

I don't think there are logs other than proton, but since it's a game/driver problem, proton won't report those in the logs.

#

Set them to the lowest just in case

#

and see if the textures are being resolved

#

Otherwise try launching CP with proton 9 with the launch parameter: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

#

Or: -force-vulkan

Ok ive just tried and had some strange results. changing all the drop downs to medium and low have no effect, however, changing "screen percentage" and "3d resolution" changes which objects are rendered. The floor of the office stays unrendered however some of the office decor and roofing elements start to render while other de-render

No problem. If this doesn't work either then I would not have any idea what to do next and I'll have to look more into it

#

Maybe try proton GE-Proton7-37 as well, I think that's proton 7

#

unfortunately the game wouldn't start with those launch options. ill give proton 7.37 a go

#

just so you or anyone else have a clear view of the issue im facing

#

its a real bummer, ive been excited to play this game and now that a work project is complete i thought this would be a perfect time to play, apparently the universe felt i had not debugged enough haha

I'll have a look on my macbook with proton, see if I can reproduce or find a fix. I don't have a linux machine readily available at the moment

thanks, ill continue down the rabbit hole that is google looking for answers. if i resolve it ill update so anyone in the future can solve a similar issue.

I forgot Mac does not have proton, so there is not really a way for me to test it out : (

#

no worries and thanks for trying, ill keep at it, hopefully someone else in the community has it running on a linux machine

#

do you know of any debuggers i could pipe into so i can more information, help me track down? I've not touched game dev for a decade+ and totally unfamiliar with the modern stacks

they really are taking the open office concept to the next level

@normal walrus Good news. i got it working. Turns on you was on the right track all along. So there is two vulkan drivers, amdvlk and radeon-vulkan. I had amdvlk initially but switched to the latter and all is resolved on proton experimental.

Ah didn’t think AMD had a difference as well, I knew Nvidia was like that, but good to know!
