Any tips? I struggled a little bit on this one
id try to select colors on your own off the reference instead of color picking. this will help your artistic eye!
it will help to do a lighting study too!
any suggestions on how to improve? (other than coloring)
This time I went off of 2 different references
On from the anime and one from the manga
I am thinking about turning it into a meme
That's better
I made him Mexican perchance
Animation tips (he hurted)
GUYS CELEBRATE!! I DREW A HUMAN SOMEWHAT NORMALLY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE
any tips tho?
please help š
you cant really give advice on this sorta art because its 90% your artstyle, so i dont know what advice to give here š
but you got the artstyle very great, it looks pretty symetrical which is satisfying to look at
This should be in mortal kombat
Make his hands wrap around the cup and give him an aura (Iād say a scarier one for giggles)
The impact frame goes hard. He falls slightly, hits a stair then plummets the the bottom
Good fight
Any tips to improve it?
(Look closely and you see them spitting blood
At some point I will make full fight scenes and I will shave them
Shade*
Don't you think it's time to move on from the stickman?
Nah
I can draw people but I can't animate them. Too much to have to relearn for that
If it makes you feel better I'm trying to slowly make them be more human. My next goal is to give them fingers. Then feet. Then bigger bodies
You have to start from somewhere to get better.
That's why I draw stickmen when animating. Thats where I start
Time to level up
@buoyant marten this is the art advice channel
Ok I will give them fingers, eyes, and mouths
Ok I want you guys to vote for this. To vote for the one on the right react with green for the one on left react with red.
I will most likely increase finer size and adjust the eyes to be straighter
perioddd u ateee
just to clarify - for the first image react with red and for the second image react with green, so the sides are swapped?
Any tips?
Your correct
The hands look slightly out of place. Maybe redraw them?
Yeah, i thought the same
omg im learning how to draw homaons!!!11!!!1
any advice on the face?
so im trying to sketch an anime style head (not anyone in particular)
i feel something is wrong with it but i cant put my finger on it
its the hair
its looking like a chunk of flesh on top of his head, you can make it into a few different parts that originate from a single point, and then cut v shaped to end of the hair (or dont, tip (or end) of the hair is up to you)
Draw hair like bananas
Banamna
Canāt seem to get the outlining right or shading to make it look Cartoonish
I have now put in my own vote for this
Since it was a tie
The winner is...
RED
It looks so good āļø and the face looks like an actual face)
But next time try to shade with darker skin color rather than with black
pls advice? especially on the face
Idk how to quite explain but the eyeballs are circles and the lashes go around it, if that's confusing there is a guy on yt called drawlileasir and he has a great eye video
Theres too much airbrush, it all has too much soft detail. What it needs is some definition (hard shapes) iād suggest using a more blocky brush
Also like Zoldex said, try not to shade with black but rather with similar colors to whatever your painting
The hair in the back is going up, i get what youāre trying to do but remember that hair has gravity so it wont make a U but rather an S shape
Heres what i mean just incase
eyebrows maybe
Thank you š
id recommend shaping up the jaw a little bit more to add some depth to the face. Like this little thing i drew up
Youre welcome!
im so proud of you keep up the good work
Thanks š

Do you think the colors are good?
Perfecto
Mmmmyes
Wowee
Thank you!
Colours are great but shadings needed, you probably knew that already though lol
Itās just a wip, I have the finished version if you wanna see
Maybe shift one of the arms a lil bit to separate them
Maybe the hair and values it would definitely be a better piece if you redid your values and maybe research about its a hard topic but makes your art go far
I thought so, yeah Iād love to see it
Here
Thank you! <3
Oh youāre right thank you!
Oh I see what you mean, it looks like most of the piece is really dark and doesnāt have much to contrast from, especially in the clothing
Thank you both so much! I really appreciate it (^^)
of course good luckk!!
i tried drawing something, any tips on the coloring?
Make the skin a bit lighter so it pops out instead of the background, but keep the color for shading and blending of the skin if youāre gonna render it
The angle of the face Iām confused if itās supposed to be looking forward or to the side, because then itād either move the face or the horns
I hope this helps
thank you ^^
Youāre welcome! C:
thanks to your advice i got motivated to revamp this a little and now it looks actually good to me :) tysm garf
YAYAYAYAAYAYA I LOVE IT SO MUCH IT LOOKS AWESOME
IM SO PROUD OF YOU š¤š„²ā¤ļø
I feel like a proud mother rn
ā¤ļø youāre welcome
I just picked up an android tablet for art. Anyone have any great tutorials or apps they could suggest?
i recommend ibis paint
Thanks! Yeah I grabbed that one immediately
Anything i need to improve? Gotta be done with it by tomorrow but it feels incomplete
I tried my best
Maybe some more shadow on siatama
Make Saitama look more menacing and serious. Take the JoJo approach.
Thanks ill let yall know when im done
any tips on this lineart?
Its not bad. I learned this little trick a few months ago, basically if u get good at coloring and/or shading u can get away with lineart issues cause it wont be that visible to the eye.
line variation! vary the thickness of the lines and it will naturally draw your eye towards the focal point. thicker lines towards the outside and taper in. also, TaNGeNt LiNeSssss! Remove those and your piece will be much more appealing to the eye
the line variation thing was exactly what i was going on, i will upgrade it a little later!
also can you explain what tangent lines are š
yeah!! of course :)) its basically when 2 lines intersect at an exact point. it fuzzies up the drawing. its not necessary to remove but it helps to clean it up of you do š
examples of some
you can just give them extra space and the drawing can look clearer. otherwise, i like it a lot! keep uo the awesomework :))
Thank you!
suffering
I think I might draw "Oh you're approaching me?"
"I'ma take ur shoe"
I just made a quick lil guy to refresh on lil guys with big heads. But he looked like he could be in JoJo so I made him slightly more JoJo
This one was with no reference
Also the Kanji for menacing is hard to draw lol
Any tips for the lil guy
I think the shoe on the right is a bit shorter
I mean the little hole there
Im gonna fart on my art
How do I give art advice?
first drawing after switching from paper to digital art, any advice?
Edge that dic and paint the black part to white
You canāt backgrounds donāt exist in art everyone knows this
They are a myth created by bob ross
"Just paint a few happy little trees"
Videos about Bob Ross on YouTube:
'Bob Ross hits this clip'
'Bob Ross paints a small accident in New York'
can anybody help and redline his far eye for me? I've lost the plot trying to fix it and I can't tell what looks right or wrong anymore lol
I feel like the bigger problem is the eyes that don't look aligned, they are in some kind of V shape...
Any tips before I continue on my recreation of the "Oh? Your approaching me?"
The head youāve made is a 3/4ths portrait. You have to fiy the right eye it should touch the nose and the side of the eye aswell as for the line above the eyebrow going in. The direction of your eye is going in the right way unlike this reference but do look to it to see your flaws. Good luck and keep up the good work!
^
yes pintrest art š«°
Instead of running away, you come right to me?
try to not color pick the traced image. it will help a lot with lighting study :))
Yah what soda said
what do u think about my first frame of the animation?
and why u don t get an fill mode in animation"))))
what do u think it s gonna be?+)
A backstory of something
yep, almost, not an backstory, it s gonna be the main action, it s an icon laugh
i love how i forgot to save the animation and i save the imagine from animation;---
Is that near?
is it good to try and copy references to learn to draw? or do you use references but not copy them
you can trace to help with proportions and learning just NEVER EVER claim itās your art :)) @pine crane
Nah he's not trying to be mean, but u should definitely copy ref when ur learning and even when ur just practicing, find artist that have the style u want and copy
why are you so rude to them?
Tried making a manga without a story board or any preparation and failed miserably ā ļø yāall got any tips?
this is like my first drawing trying to learn i used a reference from pinterest but didnt trace
any advice?
sorry im seriously not trying to be mean. i think youre very talented and really growing a lot in your art. its not a bad thing to trace, just not saying its yours. i did overlay the art and it was exactly the same and thats totaly okay! it was just that you said it was your own drawing. again i really am sorry i didnt mean to be rude at all.
yeah! looks pretty cool :))idk what its supposed to look like so its hard to give advice but keep up tue work :))
heres the reference i used, ik its unproportional but i dont know how to make it more proportional
looks awesome! using a grid can help to get good preportions but it isnt always applicable for the project
ok thanks
lowk fire asf
also fire zelda pfp
What brush is that š„š„sick drawing
agreed
more shading and use diff tools
rendering too
add slight folds in the bottom using a darker shade, actually, don't be afraid to use darker values near where the skull and fabric meet at the bottom.
Couldnāt make much of a difference since I have to sleep but I hope I improved this
Itās a skylander btw
.
Any suggestions for a middleground? Something that fits between the foreground with the two characters and the sky so it doesn't seem as extreme. The car is one option, so is the airplane, I'm just worried that might be too little, I'm just lost on composition .3.
yeah! i like both options i think i like the airplane better tho maybe?
what about mountains?
awesome art btw :)
Thank you! Mountains might be an option, its also a lot easier than doing a car, but it still sorta flattens everything
also a water tower, i think it will blend in pretty good
Moving the character to the left also helped a bit
any tips? especially on the hair and help with the facial features

Clouds remind me of studio ghibli, nice!
Very fluff
Would consume
Got a lot further too lol
Sweet
I've got a lil sheet for how I do the clouds if you wanna see lol someone else asked about them
Yeah idk something feels off for me I can't put my finger on it
The nostrils are a lil wide and I think one of ur eyes might be a lil tilted, all in all just a little thing throwing off the portrait
Aight thanks
Anybody know any way to get that atmospheric haze effect? Clipping and using an airbrush just makes everything look flat even if it helps a little bit when compared to initially doing color blocks
use gradients goin up the mountains/cliffs on the right, you could also add some fog in the foreground to amplify the size differences
looks bery good :)
No clue how I'd work in a sorta foggy effect, I tried some subtle like, wind kicking dust/snow and a little post-processing!
any advice before before i start colouring?
Looks good
Dead by daylight mentioned
advice š„ŗ
any advice it to give it a more "comic book" style?
maybe try adding some halftone dots
any advice on drawing heads?
i was thinking on doing that but i didnt know where to use them
please?
Maybe play with the hairline a little more so itās not quite so defined and raise the eyebrow? Looks great tho.
any, major mistakes?
how do i post my art?
You need to go to the upload guidance and then select "Agree, I want to upload drawings"
Yea
Here
I think that will actually be my desktop picture ngl
I need some suggestions and advise with this
the professional rendering is brothering me
File is too big for my phone or something, but I would change the perspective of the second panel on the right to be more of an undershot using the book as framing, to focus on the facial expression. High light important information using negative space- if the price of paper is important, overlap it over other panels and add a white fade out behind it- for the bottom frame, where he looks up contemplativly, expand the pages above him, and remove the lines- make it a splash panel. I would also look at some manga artist and panels from those whose systems you want to replicate(I would start black and white). Also, the first panel is very well made, but it could use some more contrast- think about what you want a scene to convey to serve the story, and try to focus on that, or zoom out to give literal and metaphorical perspective.
I am not a professional in the slightest but I hope it helps!
It does thank you very much š
how can i improve?
shapes and proportions

How do I send my art in here?
Please read the #šāupload-guidelines
A thanks
How can I make this more realistic?
Maybe blend it a lil more (u can use a q tip) and maybe elevate the horizon line so its behind the skull
Ok
The way making stuff more realistic is observation(detail) and the 3d structure
There arenāt much about blending before you set up ur 3d structure
@tough grove
alr but i wanna send an art from steam
that copyright i think
You can only share your own art here
I know this is already lifelike but I want to add something or another.
Make it darker on the plase where the skull is. As in like make the underneath darker and the ground around it, so it looks like the light is coming from 1 angle
Got any tips anyone?

I have a question how can i make my own animation like completely alone for the #š„āgartic-animations channel when everytime I try to do it it makes me not only draw but describe the drawing too and memorize it cant i just see an outline of my previous drawing? I guess im just choosing the wrong mode i tried Solo and Animation but added extra turns and it did not work. Please someone help me.
Look I drew something and I cant see the outline of my previous drawing, Can I fix it?
What could I improve. Drew it cause I was bored but I feel somethings off
i think its something about the position of they eyes and nose? idk lol
How do you create something new while referencing the work of professionals while not plagiarizing/direct ripping off?
Yh thought so thank youu
oh np!
i eye it, then add my own little flare to stuff
i canr add photos?? š
how to send photos @buoyant maple
Wdym
for some reason i canāt add photosā¦
NVM NOW I CAN
i drew gojo a while back ^^
on an ikea shopping checklistā¦.
you can do things such as take smaller details, such as an accessory or clothing item, facial features, or even the pose itself and work it into another piece. That's why many people use plenty of different references. It can also help with the lighting/color scheme.
Is there anything I can improve? (I was too lazy to draw the other eye and it was too difficult so I gave up on it HAHABSV)
Yo can someone actually read this and help?
@runic wind @dull trail thx š
you should define areas that are supposed to pop like the characters eyes, hair, and all the shadows and shading dont have to be the same color! just play around with your shading more and line work (hope that helps im not a professional)
Ooooo ok thanks for the tip!
^More contrast
Opinions?

I need fresh eyes to judge the anatomy. It feels wrong somehow but I can't tell how to make it more... Dynamic? More crunchy?
I don't have the greatest sense of anatomy but maybe if you thin out and define your lines what needs to change will become clearer
I'll try thanks
Arm should be longer, and fix up the lines it makes it seem very stiff
Keep up the good work
From the elbow down it should be longer
Where the finger kinda touches the body is where the hand SHOULD be startinh
If that visualizes it a bit more
The face looks very flat when it should look 3d. To do this yoj need to shlw more of the bottom of the chin
Hope that helps c: good luck
Very good but the top of the head should have more hair. Also you should try shading if youāre comfortable
SHAPES!! Its very good but places like the bow compared to the dress seem a bit rushed. Focus more on the general shape than adding more detail with shapes
Theres so much black and gray i think it could use some purples or hints of other colors
You forgot to shade a clump of hair and it stands out, also your lines are kind of shakey. Practice doing some line work or intentionally drawing shaky to the point to where you become more confident
Sorry for spamming, and sorry if i come off as rude to anyone. I just love critiquing ā¤ļø
Best of luck to everyone and dont get discouraged by anyone for doing what you love!
Oh mk thanks for the tip! Idk why but I have rlly shaky hands for some reason šš but thank you again!!
No your all good dw!!!
No yeah thats normal, BUT USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!! Do quick sketches, advance your precision and speed! Its best for shaky hands
Don't worry about it
alr
I finished this one already sadly, but will keep this in mind
That looks awesome!!
I just can't draw girls
Thats actually really good though
If you want it to look more feminine you have to give her a softwr jaq then
she looks good
i sense that your issue may be same face syndrome so, try some different proportions and face details
I will thank yew! ā

How do I play
Idfk how to render bros š In the one where theyer pointing and smiling with closed eyes I tried to add shading and stuff but I feel like it looks creepy/uncanny, any tips? Thinking maybe itās the detail in the lips or smthn idk
Maybe I need to make the mouth less wide but thatās like a key part of their charcater and I feel like it makes them look more unique ant stylised, but maybe it doesnāt rlly work in the artstyle Iām using
Maybe I made the cheek bones too prominent
Itās good enough maybe Iāll fix it later
Yummy
Hello
does anyone here use firealpaca
Yeah
My advice: don't
There are so many more and better tutorials for krita and its the exact same thing
How do I draw hair, probably my biggest struggle
draw silly bananas and add details (like split ends or hanging strands, or just other strands in general)!! or if you're drawing curly hair then draw little cashews and shade under them!! If you give the hair lumpy shapes near where the roots are, (IMO) it looks better !! I've found that if you block it out with just your general shapes, it helps a lot :D
Idk why it's sideways but hopefully this doodle can get the message across
I'd love some feedback
Tried just looks like a bunch of boomarangs

ARTISTS BEWARE SCAMMER
This user might be a scammer.
The email they provided me with is not aligning with their username as well as the Instagram profile from which they took photos from.
They offered a rather large sum for 3 animal portraits even tho I'm not promoting nor specialising in animal portrayal. Furthermore they are asking for payment options (by now they asked about 4 options) other than PayPal or through Ko-fi even tho I specifically said I only use those
I DMed the Instagram user notifying them of this and hope to get more information soon.
My sister let me borrow her (school) photoshop account- I let her play java with mods on my computer in return. For fun I drew her Minecraft avatar. She explained the lore to me and everything, but I still got the character design wrong. I wish I could've hit the mark, but she didn't explain the character in a way that I understood. It was a casual thing so it was fine. The lighter colored one is from after I failed at drawing her character correctly(she didn't have the finished model yet, so she showed me the base and told me to change the hair to black among other things)
I think I'm going to work on my character design skills, this one definitely sucks- it's bland, but not in an interesting way. It's decent, technically speaking, but needs more omphh, to be distilled.
I'm going to work on character/production design so I can make some concepts for my Minecraft movie remake- it's more of a series concept, with a focus on people growing.
So, any tips on how to improve my shading/character design?
Ok, I tried a couple of different things, and my conclusion is that the reason it doesn't look right is perspective and understanding volume.
Ok, so now I've shown the potential corrections(not th best, sorry for that, I'm using a phone app and don't have a lot of time)
So that red box, is the perspective of the torso; notice something? The top part is correct, but the bottom part isn't in perspective.
The kicking leg also doesnt connect to the torso; notice how the torsos back is facing the 'camera'? You could move back to a more correct position, but then he would be achieving a bend that those gymnasts do in pictures.
And also, you'd have to shift the down facing leg to the left; his butt would be on the back of his character, not the side in this pose.
My suggestion to get better at this would be to practice drawing simple shapes in perspective(look up perspective practice tutorials).
After you've practiced for a bit, take a human body(photo), and draw the perspective boxes on top of the different body parts, breaking them down.
Then, try to create the human body(in boxes) without drawing on the photo(can be used as reference).
Then, try to draw the reference photo using the boxes as guidelines for the more complex shapes.(Everything is shapes- you are leaning to break them down and put them back together).
The arm and finger anatomy isn't quite right either, but I'm not great at that either; I wouldn't worry about trying to improve the anatomy until you can draw perspective and volume/shape better.
You're doing great rn though, I'm cheering for you!
Remember! Even if the character is wearing clothes, drawing box perspective versions will make the leg look more natural, without having to actually draw leg anatomy.

I don't have any specific questions, but i'm very new to actually painting, so any feedback might be useful!
maybe figuring out the hairline beneath and where exactly the hair parts could help a bit
the hair doesnāt look too bad, i think it just needs more structure

ur going for perspective painting as I can see the vanishing point and lines going into work so I would just say highlight the depths
also the water ripples dont match up
something like this?
whats ur process to drawing hair? do you draw the head structure before the hair?
ive never been good at making a base but for the head i typically draw a rough shape and round it out to fit my needs, also ive improved a bit with hair since i sent that
yeah it def looks improved the strands and stuff but it looks off due to the reason ur head structure isnt right so it looks plastered on
i did this like a week and a half ago, that drawing of the blonde was the first on desktop drawing with a tablet, so it was moslty an experiment
yeah this looks right
yeah that looks better!
i think if you keep practicing youāll be fine
wdym gartic phone brush
the brush in gartic phone is just a hard round brush with no pressure control
should come default with any software ^^

Halloween drawing for my art class (itās due tomorrow) it just feels off any advice?
Left side of face seems a little flat
do you have time to redo the head?
Still in "polished sketch" stage, i feel like it's missing something though. I know the face needs work, and i roughly know how to fix it but I want the pose to be kinda flashy, and pop more, any tips?
i think the pose is good, maybe you should just push it a bit further?
example of what i think might work
Oh so make it more exaggerated, ur take is more what i had in mind!
good luck with the drawing it looks rlly cute!
You have to make sure all the darkest shadows are black and that all the shades of black grey and white apply
Your favorite animal with wings, or if it already has wings then give it six eyes and horns
Its 3/4ths view on top and 1/2 view for the jaw
The jaw should be showing a little bit more of the other side
If you want the last little exaggeration you can always tilt the head a little down (ONLY IF YOU WANT TO its just a suggestion)
what drawing tablet are you guys using?
None, i use my finger and ibispaint.
I do have a drawing tablet tho, it's just ur cheap wacom tablet with no screen but it has pressure
Wacom intuos
just asking, do you think the xppen deco fun is good to use?
I never used it idk
k thanks
Iām just using an iPad Pro since I had it already, just had to get the pencil
thats nice tbh cuz ive never had a tablet or touchpad device
advice for coloring eyepatches? (goal is to draw Asuka) also what would be a good technique for outfits like hers?
@oak dragon
For the eye patch you could try looking for references that are close to what you want.
I found one that has colours close to what youāve picked that might help a bit.
And since her outfit is already skin tight maybe just draw the full outline over her body and then add the suit pattern + smaller details (e.g the creases where her arm bends, any part of the suit that sticks out)
idk but i wish you luck
ty
just started like trying to animate besides gartic phone idk any tips?
still like a work in progress I want to add more details but like I think I have all the main movements down
Hello, i'm struggling to connect the am to the body in a natural-looking ish way, any tips pls? ;;
should i maybe move the character BEHIND it?
how to use the select tool or lasso on gartic i seen people use it but idk how
Proportions feel a bit off?
maybe a little but i think its a stylistic choice and it looks great
to be fair, if the artist feels like the proportions are off then itās not really a stylistic choice cuz itās all about the artists intentions
but i agree that the proportions look good with the style !! :3
@i.love.rebzyyx.sm i think maybe the issue is with the eyes?? itās not super off, but the angle of the eyes kinda contradicts the angle of the face
i tried messing around with it
oops i canāt just tag u in a message i guess
but ā¬ļø
TYYYYY
I think her outfit is space/tech/70s themed, but its vague- only tiny hints sprinkled throughout. I would make it more in your face(first example), and/or develop the themes, and also realism(having a realistic texture, weight, fall, etc, can make it feel more grounded in the world, even if the texture is unrealistic). Why would the character be in this outfit? Magic transformation? What are her powers? Imagine them in different positions, etc. If she gains her powers from her tech, enhance that aspect(example two). Use character lore/personality to enhance the outfit. Also, focus on silhouette and shape language, what are those telling you/doing? You could also stylize(and simplify), or stylize(and amplify; like JoJo). Practice some character expressions. P.S I got a tad bit carried away, it doesn't feel a lot like the original character, but that's because I struggle with faces, among other things, and I definetly didn't hit the 90s workout video vibe quite right, but I hope the tips and visual ideas help. (one is a superhero style, other is high tech style, neither rendered, quick sketch)
added a different inversion idea for energy sheild
anyone has any tips on to better this perspective drawing
Hi @wintry jolt To master perspective, you have to think in terms of form and light. I think the mistake our brains always make is to think flat. "I'm going to put a flat object seen from below," and that creates conflicts.
I've briefly redrawn some of the steps I use for perspective in general.
I first draw a a white cylinder seen from below using the background to help me. Then, i draw others cyllinders for the limbs, in that moment you realize that there are many elements that become invisible, like the hips, which are hidden by the thighs.
When you compare the two drawings, you can see that the torso is too long in relation to the thighs (and it looks like your brain has seen the thighs from the front and not from below compared to pectoral and shoulder muscles, which are OK) , and that the pubis is visible when it shouldn't be.
I hope this helped š
you do a low opacity line around the shadow you want and you bucket tool it
the shadow shape needs to be connected fully and usually looks better if you do it in a single line
i dont know if you mean this type of (lasso tool) but hope this helps
thanks for the advice
Hey I have a question for whoever wants to answer. But does anyone have an website or whatever on mythical creatures/animals? Mostly dragons?
my friend has talked about how delicious dungeon (dungeon meshi) has really detailed animals so maybe check of the delicious dungeon wiki or somthing
Someone said to me this on my art,, Here my hand doesn't fit, plus the figure is too far away from this hand and the human hand is not that far away...,, is she right or not I need some more beliefs about it
I guess it looks accurate enough
i messed up a bit on dios hip size but eh whatever
Thats really good
thank you
Im trying to get a pose where she's zipping her own clothes. The zipper is on her back, but its kind of hard to show the arm and make it do that... Any tips on how to make the arm less strange looking?
Its probably missing some overlap since it looks way too flat
i know it may sound obvious, but you could add more details.
i dont know why, but the hands seem off to me
the hands are too small... i think..?
They're too small, make them around 2 times bigger should help, and also the arms look a little long, you could fix that by pushing the hand up the forearm to make the forearm shorter
"add more details" doesn't really help ima be honest... Its like that meme drawing an owl, and its drawing a few circles then "add a few details" and its suddenly done
like this/
the elbow should be more sharp and a bit higher but looks fireš„
I've never drawn a chair like this before, any advice?
tips on how to make a body for thisguy
no one helped me on my terrible animation lol⦠help. please.
its bad and choppy and the drawing at the end looks off
obviously the hands are bad but im not worried abt that. maybe its the way i shaded? or the tangent lines i didnt see by the stomach area? idk guys it just looks BAD someone help
and yeah this is a very blurry screenshot haha
i made the whole animation plus drawing in just a little over an hour- so idk maybe if i would have taken more time on it????
My shadows r okay
days later no response šš someone helppp
i like it. is it on a desk?? haha
i think it looks cute, not terrible!! donāt be so hard on yourself
itās a little hard to help since you arenāt sure what the problem is
i tried messing with the drawing to figure out what might be bothering you
(also ignore that i got rid of the squiggles itās just that i was moving stuff around and they were kinda in the way sorry šš«¶)
what i edited was some anatomy, and some shading / colours in certain areas
its kind of hard to tell that the hair is supposed to be two different colours, so i think you should try and focus on how to show that contrast.
and donāt be afraid of making the shading darker in some areas.
also i love the hairstyle so maybe try and make itās silhouette pop more!
iām really bad at explaining stuff helpp
my edited version has its own mistakes but it makes it easier to convey what im talking about
sorry i donāt have much good advice but i hope this helps a little
š½
ughhh thank you!!! thats so helpful :D)))
Super late, you can keep the arm but you have to change the hand if thats more the vision
Or
Make the hand stand more infront of the person and show A LITTLE BIT of the arm behind it. Its not gonna look normal, but it is
How do I send images??
Help on how to realistically draw/color rocks would be awesome

quick 10 min sketches i made pls lmk how can i improve
Hello,
Iām new to digital drawing and Iām struggling to figure out how to start and improve.
Iād really appreciate hearing about how you all learned to draw and any resources or methods that helped you along the way.
Any advice would be very helpful.
Personally, I find it easier to draw what I want to draw on paper first. At least have the sketch drawn out on paper, take a picture, then go over it digitally
did some sketches, the bottom ones look a bit finiky, but im not sure how to fix it, any suggestions?
Ok, so non-exhaustive list. Also, I know this seems like a lot, but this is just an outline- you can literally just pick up some stuff and put down lines, and you'll improve, this just gives you some jumping off points to have a clearer outline- the best thing to do is get started! There's no wrong way, and if your doing something less than optimally, it's easier to fix than to start from scratch.
First- What do you want to draw? Having a clear idea, goal, or plan, will help you learn skills better.
If you don't have any ideas, here's a tip; you probably want to learn to draw because you have media that you enjoy. Compile that media into a reference sheet(can print, Google docs, milanote, whatever works best for you). This will help keep you on track, and help give you ideas to return to!(Isn't necessary though)
Ok, so materials and such it depends on what medium, digital, painting, sketching, pastels, chalk, etc. But honestly, no need to worry about it too much, you can experiment if you want to, but just go with what feels the best- you don't need to buy stuff to learn art. Just paper and pencil works.
Ok, so actually getting to the list- art fundamentals. These are the best starting points, because they are easily transferable. There are sub-categories, but they tend to be spesfic to your goals.(There's a lot of overlap between concepts)
-Composition
-Perspective
-Anatomy
-Form/Shape
-Value
-Lighting
-Brushwork(brush conservation included)
-Color Theory/Color
-Structure
-Design
-Linework
Some of these overlap or are very similar. Just googling art fundamentals /reddit, or 'art fundamental tutorials' + [spesfic fundamental can help].
Remember to practice based off of the tutorials, taking the tips and applying them, seeing what works, etc.
Some YouTube tutorial makers I have saved to my art ref playlist are-
Dong Chang(animation)
Sinix Design(painting)
Proko(kinda gatey, good for inspo)
Marco Bucci
Blue biscuits(part entertainment)
Discord forbids me
yo w blue biscuts plug
Sorry bout' that, hit the text limit. 'discord forbids me' sounds so ominous but it was the shortest I could think of.
if u dont mind i have an art yt plug to make as well: draw like a sir (mostly entry level anatamy with other random things)
I would've put in links to my reference folders on sites like YouTube and Pinterest, but I don't want to splurge my digital footprint everywhere. I did a glance through my YouTube ref playlist and blue biscuits was there lol.
P.S- Yair, don't stress too much about what to start with- best bet is just going for it. Having an outline is helpful for maintaining steam, but if you focus on making a plan too much, you'll procrastinate forever(from experience). Good luck!
Issue is that the perspective on the chair is off-you shouldn't be seeing both of them curve into each other like that. Try taking a photo of an actual chair, and then using that to help with your perspective. You can also practice drawing boxes and organic shapes in perspective to be able to do it on sight. (Look up perspective practice tutorials)
What I did was refined the hand a bit, and also placed it higher up- when zipping something, the fabric gets tugged with it, which is why Zippers tend to be on the front of people; expect for hyper specific formal clothing, because it tends to have thicker, more fitted fabric- that kind of fabric is easier to pull against with one hand when zipping. Changing the perspective could help, but also having a better idea of the clothes could help. try drawing cubes in the place of the arm first, and then adding the fabric; this will help you figure out where to put the folds. I used tight folds for the sake of demonstration, but can redraw with loose if you'd like. The characters facial expression looks great, and the line art on the face are looks appealing too. Good job! Have a nice day(sorry if my critque was bad, I tried).
You are a goat bro thank you so much
No prob dude, good luck!
straight ass
!
Bro I can't send my art for some reaon
have u been to upload guide lines
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it š„°
tips for animation plz
advise before i finish this
how to make hard shadow affect from arcane? ;-;
hey, so i just bought the wacom intuos and i would like some tips on getting started to draw digitally, i usually draw using 0.5 and 0.7 pilot pens and sometimes 2b 4b 6b 8b pencils
great art, thonger!
thanks for sharing!
i thought you were the dude in the pfp
What do you mean by tips? Do you mean like, software wise? How to get good lines, etc? Or how to recreate traditional effects? A good workflow?
anything that i should know i guess
cause i kinda suck
right now
Ohhh, so you're having trouble adapting to digital? No worries, it's like that for everyone at the start.
another thing I wanted to add is that the key difference that gives pencil and digital sketches different vibes is that when you draw with a pencil you can have variation in line thickness and opacity but you don't get that in digital art so they might look more stiff and messy. you can always play around with the pressure sensitivity and general opacity of brushes and adjust it to your liking. most drawing softwares also already have an activated stabilizer feature which can make your drawings look stiffer than usual if you use dynamic lines so you have to adjust that feature as per your need too.
Also, it just takes time; the fundamentals are the same, but there are variations. When trying to improve transitional art, you look over and it assess what looks wrong, and then attempt to fix it. The process is the same for digital- if lines are wobbly, practice, or use smoothing, if your rendering looks to blended, use a hard brush.
Other than that, it's down to hardware and software spesfics- like brush type, software features, etc.
Try to familiarize yourself with your tools, keep practicing your fundamentals, etc.
What is the point of art? Is it to create something that looks good? What looks good? It's not necessary, but having a mindset of getting it done, learning from mistakes, having a vision, and then moving on tends to help.
Good luck!
Whoops forgot to hit reply button- look at comment above^
thank you so much
this really does help
No prob, have a nice day, good luck with it.
thank you
Define the planes first (the astro head is a good ref for that)
And then make the insides of those planes have gradients for that smooth/harsh look
im trying to draw taco from ii, the things floating are supposed to be in water (like a pondy thing) and idk how to draw water like at all- also if you could help make it look like tacoās reflection isnāt that solid or some shading/rendering tips that match my style, please tell me!!
(Iām using sketchbook here but i also have procreate AND ibispaintx so if you use those programs you can tell me what to do in those programs as well)
Advice on my Changed art? I know Colin (the white one) is a little disproportionate but whatever
u suck
Looks cute, where is this from?
The video game Changed on Steam, I mixed up the true ending scene slightly.

guys, how does impact frames work
just make it look crazy
fill the background with a color of your choice preferably black and exaggerate the movements
What smftyy1 said
But also, if your question is when or how to use an impact frame, I suggest studying clips from different shows where impact frames are used
There are probably videos you can watch on YouTube about this stuff too
sorry I canāt give much advice cuz I donāt really use impact frames and I gotta practice animation in general
But good luck
Hey so first time posting here
I'm doig an oc (Frior) and i wanted to have some critics on the body fat side
Is it enough fat(?) Or to put it properly: is the body is proportionally good?
And i know the face need rework
Any advice for using oil pastels? Iām missing something but idk what
you could darken the points at the outside of the eye (primarily the left and right) and create a small shadow underneath the eyelid
I MEANT EYEBALL NOT EYE
but i dont actually have any advice when it comes to oil pastels lol
warning slight nudity, does anyone have shading tips for procreate?
I dont have knowledge about colouring tho.. I need someone advice asapš
What are you trying to communicate with this piece?
It's a mixture of building and sky i guess (a team school project tho)
Yeah I see it, but like is there some underlying messages?
i think the flat appearance of your drawing so far would look cool with gradients like in the picture of a colouring in page i found, which isnāt too hard to do with decent coloured pencils.
you could also try watercolour if the paper is okay for that, maybe do some tests on another sheet if you have one.
i also have a random picture you might be able to use as reference, i looked up āskyscraper photo from groundā if you want to find a better reference.
as far as actual technique, im really bad at describing stuff and i donāt do much traditional art
so idk if i can help too much. but there are probably a lot of videos on youtube so i hope i at least gave you an idea of what you can look up.
you can also always experiment by drawing smaller versions of your project (preferably on the same kind of paper) and testing out different colouring techniques on those before doing it on your official art piece
@cursive radish i feel like this image has some good examples of colouring techniques also!!
Made my technically 2nd but Iām counting it as my 1st FakĆ©mon design thoughts? Its inspire by a Kiwi Bird- Durian Fruit and Drawing
HOW THE FUDGE DO YOU WORK WITH OIL PAINT i accidentally bought it and now i cant paint because i cant get it right like the tuts
u got the proper canvas?
Learn to sketch its quite hard bleh
Also use reference
I mean learn form
yeah
how to draw faces in normal style without outlines
like just the eyes nose and mouth?
yes i guess
Heyy everyone, where do you get your ideas for drawing? I almost never know how to start.
I kinda just stare at the ceiling and think or go to Pinterest until I see something that gives me ideas
I do a lotta fanart so usually my ideas revolve around whatever thing Iām interested in
You can always draw about stuff that just happens in your day to day, or if you have a friend who draws you can both hang out and bounce ideas off each other
Drawing from reference is also one way to start
Maybe youāll use it as a study, or maybe youāll find a reference that sparks a bigger idea
Also I think just doodling silly things without thinking too hard about how good they look is also fun and can help get you started
I stay up until ungodly hours and just sketch every idea, then the next day i tweak them to look better then create my pieces. If you cant do that just do the silly āwhat ifā games.
āWhat ifā my Oc was in a zombie apocolypse? - draw your stuff then add another what if and just create a whole story or parallel universe for your character and what not
Thank you for your input @lean lagoon @pallid drum @steady swan š«¶š»
Youāre welcome šā¤ļø
Np! Happy arting!! ā¤
yippee good luck with your endeavours
Learn how to draw eyes (preferably with basic knowledge of anatomy and memorise it until you can instantly draw
how do I draw a proper six-pack,
and also how do I draw proper hands
use boxes for guidelines, and find reference photos
i really like this style of drawing, where the planes of the face are very prominent. Plus it helps add dimension and helps do the anatomy correctly. this is a good tip!!!

I like how most of the advice in here is the equivalent of "get gud scrub"
Well yeah, there really aren't any art "hacks" anyone who says otherwise is selling something
Just in general, best you can do is focus on a particular art fundamental you wanna practice and do it continually
Significant progress will take months at least so thereās no reason to feel u need to be a master within a week or smth
Yep
How do I improve this (for future drawings)
Don't smudge-shade, try cross-hatching instead (search it up if ydk what it means), it looks much better and its actually pretty easy too. Also use a reference for the background and the people. Im really bad at giving advices but i hope this helped!
learn and memorize the basic structure of the hand from a yt video first. Try drawing in different angles using a box(perspective is very important in this) Memorizing a couple of poses would also come In handy(Someone told me to do this when I asked how to draw hands)
I was doing this off of what I saw but thanks for the cross-hatching idea!!
hello got a question i recently made a gartic drawing and ended pretty nicely but can you guys give me tips on how to improve it this was the proces in 15 and the last one is the final product
Hello
Ive been trying to get better at drawing for some time so i watched some yt tips and just decided on drawin something everyday like some shapes and other peoples art (using reference and mostly just faces)
Its been maybe 2 weeks ajd im still going strong, jot doing too much but doing it consistantly. Has anyone got anytips on what I should also be trying daily to improve overall drawing?
I can manage to draw with reference pretty well but ofc takes maybe 1~3 hours. I want to improve my "image library" (saw this term on yt vid so dont ask) so i can draw without reference eventually
Maybe give yourself a time limit when you draw from reference on occasion, youāll have less time to think about every detail so it kind of forces you to get down the most important stuff first.
And maybe having a little book or something to take out sometimes, drawing whatever you see in front of you.
I also think just taking in the world around you can help. not even drawing stuff yet, just making mental notes of what you notice. Try and break down what you see.
Some of these help me so I hope you can find use out of them too
I wish you luck with your art
oh maybe I should @ you as well-
Hope thatās okay
@idle torrent
Try drawing front view>45>90>75/15 degrees In chrological order. memorizing each face angles is helpful for drawing without reference. Asaro heads are useful to break down head structures and for shading. Draw realistic first then simplify it in whatever artstyle you prefer. Time limits are helpful. Gathering as much reference would add your image library(better lineart, poses, even better if you copied them) lasty, If your linearts arent good do line practices with paper(bigger than a4 size)
can anyone help me about drawing hands? any tips, point some errors of perspective or even of shape (analyzing i can see some error in the thumb, and the continuation of the arm doesn't seem to fit into the perspective)
This is way better than any hand I've ever drawn so I'm no help
im not that good, i've spent like 2 hours just on that.... im basically deceiving myself and going against the learning, always wanting to do something good. But I know that's wrong, I just want to understand how to do something perfect
there is no such thing as perfect art
I'm an absolute beginner to animation, and I have no art skills other than the ability to copy
I want to study animation,
And I want an animator to study, can I have recs? Thanksies!
agree to the guidelines in #šāupload-guidelines
Ye thanks

As a beginner to art and drawing, what are some of the simple things i should practise a bit everyday to master?
anatomy
Hi, I need some tips/help here, is there a way that I can make this look like an actual broken katana without hilt, instead of it looking like a barber razor?
thatās tricky, maybe you can add a bit more of a curve?
these pics were my reference for this, idk if you had a more straight bladed katana in mind for this tho
#idk a thing about swords so i hope someone can help
also something about this area maybe, it looks like the blade is still going but you can see where it would be covered by the hilt
Huh, this detail could make some difference, thanks
the reason why isnt so curved was because It feels like (to me) that the curve is most notorious when is large, so I didn“t add the curve
I could see why I didnt notice the detail, cuz I used this as a reference lmao, thanks
good luck with it!!
hi guys! i wanna be a digital artist really bad but i dont know where to start from. I dont have an ipad, neither a pen so im just gonna be using my pc. I really need advice since im completely lost and know nothing about digital art so any tip will help. Ive been a traditional artist since forever and im pretty good but when it comes to digital art im terrible at it
do u have a track pad? and what kind of computer?
no i dont have a track pad..just a pc with a screen and a keyboard yk @dull trail
ohhhh
Hi, i just joined but I have some minor advice, dont be disheartened from using a mouse and even ms paint. Take your time and you can still draw properly. I honestly prefer drawing with mouse on pc now lo
I don't have any advice im sorry but I LOVE your art!!
Well thanks I was cooking but that one hand
Give yourself a refrence and give yourself 3 times to look at it.. no more no less you have as many time as you want to look at it but when you take your eyes off it counts as one, then when your drawing you'll slowly realize how to draw the eyes, mouth, how the head looks like
And repeat that more and more and more up to 50 drawings and you'll slowly see yourself improving
i took a few tries at this and itās really hard help
i definitely didnāt get it quite right, but i wanted to show the different interpretations i got from seeing this
i think, like you mentioned, there are conflicting perspectives.
the arm and back of the hand are at an angle that shows dimension, while the fingers are at a different angle that makes them look flat in comparison.
also i think the extent that the middle finger shows up from behind the pointer finger is too much
(it might even be unnecessary depending on what pose youāre going for)
its hard to tell what angle everything is supposed to be at.
maybe you can try holding your hand up in the pose you were going for, and do a bit of spot the difference between that and your drawing.
try breaking stuff down into simpler 3D shapes, to make the perspectives easier to see
you could also try to focus more on the general outline of the hand? idk
i am awful at describing things sorry š
so feel free to take what i say with a grain of salt but i hope this helps a little maybe
iām definitely no expert on hands but i do like drawing them a lot so i have a somewhat vague understanding of how they look and work but this reminds me how much more i gotta practice cuz what am i yapping about actually
Is there anything that I should add up bc I think there's something missing in it
Damn idk what u saying but thx I guess
#šØāmy-art message I canāt tell if this is ai
Itās too detailed and painted in different areas kinda looks like multiple styles
I might be wrong idk but
It's mine
It's not AI, it is matte painting
You can see the full painting in my Artstation account, thanks
Aight sorry for accusing
No no, thank you so much
I drew this before GenAI was opened to public
Interesting
Absolute beautiful btw
Agreed

hey everyone I'm new to drawing (I just started learning yesterday) so there is still a lot of stuff I dont know. one of those things that is troubling me is that it seems like my line weight is really bad. I dont know if im just not using the brush setting correctly but it seems like the line weight goes from really light to -not that much heavier when im using full pressure. I'll put an example below
below is an example of what i want on the right but to achieve it I'm having to keep tracing over the same line to get the desired effect. Is that normal or do I have my setting for my brush wrong?
ps im using photoshop
I donāt know anything about photoshop but usually there is a line thickness option. Or something along those lines
i also use photoshop but this applies with most programs it just depends on the brush, the pencil brushes tend to not have much thickness variation because real pencils dont have that much thickness variation (so its trying to mimic that). if you choose an inking brush or something like that the line weight will be more impactful
but if you want to use that brush but increase line weight, go to brush settings and make sure the "minimum diameter" is set to 0%, and then increase the size of the brush so that the thickest part will become thicker. youll have to have a steady hand to apply the pressure properly it takes practice
you should also be able to adjust your tablet's pen pressure firmness (how hard or soft you need to press to reach full pressure) in the app that controls the tablet
thanks so much that helped š
can anyone help with like shoulders and torsos? Actually everything below neck because somehow i cannot draw bodies
Make the face bigger
The right eye is too far to the left I think, you could maybe try flipping the canvas a couple times so you can tell when proportions are a little off? If itās a style choice no worries
try using color theory to render the drawing more. All though it seems great
I feel like sunflowerās petals especially where the nose should be are too thin and spiky compared to other side. Besides that very cute drawing!
Tyyy
Idk how to fix Sukunaās face
Avoid using black shading (as I used too do this as a beginner too :o) and try to go for darker tones of blue and purple to start! ^^ Some other ways to help would be searching up shading references or shading tips, as they can be quite helpful and help you learn how to develop your style! It looks good :D
any tips on background ideas/ execution?
Make bg the shrine of malevolence :3
They look angry, or judging, so maybe you can add some of those (I believe they're called this:) radial lines, like manga uses when showing a "zoom in" in some sorts? Otherwise, I'd say switch the gradient upside down :o
Oh why didnāt I think of that
Thank you
If you want to use black shading like the jojo style i suggest using it like cell colouring/ shading with the black being the most darkest part if the shadow but you should incorporate more colours like araki
Use the + method on the head and you can find the proper proportions from there
any tips to improve? thank you
That is so beautiful
haha thank you
its so good
Ur welcome
Overall I think it looks great! But if you'd like some more contrast, maybe to make the brighter colors pop more, you could put an overlay layer of purple, dark blue, or (maybe) a dark yellow. This way, the lighting really is more clear and easier to see where they're coming from! But otherwise, it's great!
Maybe some shadow on back of head, otherwise looks great, especially hands
thank you for the advise! I'll try them when I have time
How do i draw semi-realistic foot and face without reference
you dont, pls referance its not stealing or cheating or not "real art", refernaceing is really the only way to learn
practice using a reference, then use those applied skills to go further
study the anatomy and stuff
i agree with chenoz though, you definitely should always try to use a reference unless itās not possible
I learned to draw through tracing, after which I used a reference, and then just drew from memory
ty for the advice
Ń just drew a self portrait for the first time. people said i look angry/terrified, but idk what to change... also not sure if anatomy is fully there
sorry i don't have my stuff with me so i had to improvise
as for the anatomy, you're doing good. keep it up and just practice and study facial expressions and the fundamentals
thx i did a lil of what you said last night
i was messing around with the expressions, but i havent tried changing the eyebrows yet
ill change the eyebrows when i get home
nicee, keep up the great work
Hey guys! I'm trying to practice drawing still life for an exam, I was wondering if anyone had any advice for this. It would be really appreciated!
You could also study the values of colors. try putting a Black and white filter on the picture you'll use for practicing then redraw them again without the filter. after practicing that, draw another one without the B&W filter then compare your drawing to the picture with the B&W filer on. Also keep an eye out for the proportion of your subject, make sure to establish a silhouette first or draw the negative space
Okay that helps a lot. Thank you!
no problem!

hey @digital owl, I saw it and it's getting pretty good!
started messing around with eyebrows to see how it impacted emotion after ur advice, flattened it like u said
ty
i didnt realize how important eyebrows were
you should also look into where the face forms wrinkles to enhance the expression you're trying to create
no worries, we all start somewhere
i was thinking bout that, though i wasnt sure if too much line art would cause it to look uncanny. imma still try it tho
nice, also try to watch YT tutorials if you have time
and search for photo references
it really helps when you're building your visual library
i mostly use quickposes and lineofaction to learn where i should be emphasising lines
that's a great start
ive been trying to get good at art so i dont have to rely on movement alone when i animate
well, from what i can see you're doing good. keep up the good work
First ever drawing, iām content with it but please give me any tips or advice on how to improve it
the adams apple looks a little awkward here. it should be much less pronounced
hereās a reference:
How do you find references exactly like on drawing ?
you can search up references on google by typing in specific wording, though you won't find what you want right away so you'll just have to look for it until you find the right one
kind of like this
that works but u could always make the reference yourself if its easy enough

What are some unconventional ways some of you learned to draw?
Me personally, and this may sound silly, coloring pages.. and also those drawing activity books for kids. I'm pretty sure that's how I started! ^^
im still pretty new but i started when i was a kid by printing out pictures i liked and tracing over them with tracing paper. i think it helped build my hand eye coordination with the pencil
I was just puting a piece of paper on my screen and just start to trace animes and stuff
iscribble although its no longer live is was a giant canvas that you would draw with random people online, they would have themes and ever one got a slot(place to draw) on the canvas then everone would vote on there favourite image and the winner would chose the next theme its was a great way to have a chance at drawing with restrictions, anouther one would be DRAWPILE simalure to iscribble its a free app that people art RP with people. Everyone would draw their own characters and they would interact on the bored. Cannon character or OC characters.it really helped me pick up the speed in reagards to art whilst creating some really strong story arcs. Some of my ocs lived and died on those boreds i could not recomend more.
I have this, but I think i messed up the expression, any ideas how to fix it? (Sorry I posted this in the wrong channel the first time)
What kind of expression are you looking to go for? :o
thoughts on remaking dandadan intro?
Kinda like a serious one?
Ooh okay! There are many routes you could go for that! Most of all, the expression looks more softened and startled. You can fix this by emphasizing wrinkles, more especially near the eyes and nose. Also, direction of the eyes and eyebrows helps a lot. Also, don't be afraid to add some quivers to the lips!
Below I've attached some pictures of some serious facial expressions :0 Maybe some of these can help? You can also utilize the angle of the head to show seriousness or even defiance.
Ohh, that makes sense. I see what you mean now. Thank you so much!
Can somebody give me a good idea what I should make the color of her tights? I donāt really want the outfit to be Moto tone, and I would like to add some warmness or pops of red.
I think warm colours like yellow or orange could work
I wanna draw a woman hunched over wearing a coif for a back perspective, really just the back of head and upper back. Itās hard. Donāt really know what to do with the neck and canāt find good references
Really struggling now with clothes and shading
I would give some advice but i literally cant draw :/
Any advice is welcome, I'd say! The more input, the better!
Honestly just go and draw a piece of clothing wrong then post it, ppl often want to be right more then they want to help
j
Epic
Das a whole lotta layers
Depends on the clothes youāre drawing. If its like a dress or something drapy then i suggest practicing cloth on a ball. If youre doing just standard clothing i suggest just studying clothing on people, think about what youre seeing. Its all observation, its a great skill to learn and most definitely needed when knowing how to draw clothing.
If youd like to send over a few examples of your drawings i can help on demonstrating. Its not easy to explain broad concepts with just writing alone
Save meeeee is this any good?
You've got a good layout, but I'd say try to define it in a second sketch to really picture if it's the pose you'd like! ^^
Creatures of ibis paint I ask for help on this š whatever helps especially suggestions on the bg
'bout to enter in a train
the art is good but the hand is meh
what is the best drawing app on a tablet ?
i dont have a tablet sadly but i am going to plan on getting a xiaomi pad 7 pro
cheap powerful and its best bang for the buck in my opinion
If you're talking about an HDMI drawing tablet, I personally use Clip Studio Paint, but when I started out, Krita was free. If you're talking about an Ipad and the such, I heard Procreate is pretty good, though I haven't tried it myself
Sadly, not the ipad bc its too expensive
It looks ok but im abit confused on how the coloring and render change so much from the artstyle.like the gray hair became blonde.
Also whats even happening here
and the skirt uncolored itself somehow on the right side
Ye
I'm sketching it out gng šš also the skirt is jst temporary I'm leaving it blank cuz I forget to color it sometimes so I jst leave it out so that ik I gotta color it later
Idk abt the hand anymore I literally pixelated it atp
Some spot went out :3
ngl i recommend unpixelating and cleaning up overflow and unecessary lines, the really clear parts clash a lot with pixel-y parts
ex. the eyes, one of em is pretty clear and then theres a massive pixel blob which imo is weird lookin
Ofc ill add bg later to make the pixelated hand fit in or smth
Just a Lil bit more cleaning
Fixed skirt
eye of the rah speedpaint that i did yesterday
The calves are lowk chopped if your going for semi/realistic, but if this is your specific style, its excellent
Hi! If you're just wanting to post art, you should send it in #šØāmy-art . If you're looking for advice or criticism, then this is where you'd post ^^ I think it looks neat tho!
oh, thank you !
i was a bit suspicious seeing your progress photos and then i watched your speed paint, the fully rendered areas just appear out of nowhere. i use ibispaint and i know sometimes it skips certain stuff ahead but not like that, it 100% would have shown the rendering process for this kind of art.
you traced over the final picture and coloured parts of it to make it look like you were drawing, then erased all that to reveal the final image.
i also kind of suspect the final piece was AI generated but i canāt confirm.
i tried reverse image searching and all that showed up was AI stuff , but that art style is pretty popular with AI so who knows.
Sorry I probably shouldnāt have brought this up, maybe you did draw it and Iām being accusatory because it doesnāt look quite right to me.
I hope you keep drawing because it is awesome and fun to do
Also if I am wrong the drawing is very nice
It's crazy that we're not 100% sure anymore whether or not a drawing is AI
It really does look AI generated if you look at the details...
It's alright gng šš I know it does like it's ai, it's already been a, few days and a number of people have been accusing ai on what I've drawn. But I'm also sort of contemt knowing that I've been accused of ai because of how abstract and somewhat good my artwork could be.
To further explain is, that I'm using an older version of ibis paint because I'm somewhat exploiting a free brush bug and yes the app can get buggy on my end.
But regardless I don't blame yalls, I too sometimes look back and say "how in the world was I able to draw this"
Anyways I'll probably need to switch up to clip studio since these accusations are getting too much šš
Your art is phenomenal @molten heath
Would yāall say gartic could help with drawing faster? Im trying to utilize it to my advantage.
ye. also i suggest doing a background or perspective test with your sketch first, maybe on your next piece. like layouts.
the drawing is isometric, so the bg should be too.
if this was more dynamic, the head would be bigger and the shoulders too. foreshortening.
maybe a stylistic bg would be best to match the color, instead of a physical one. unless you wanna wing it.
it's better to plan out the color lighting early on, for both the environment and character, instead of just the values.
intentionality is more important than speed. drawing slowly to get the best line instead of drawing faster to get the best line at the cost of so many attempts. and you can effectively learn this if you intentionally practice on your preferred program or medium (maybe it's gartic for you idk)
Thx
will take notes on that
ty
How can y'all be so good?
im new at drawing and wanted to ask what shold u do to get better at the beginning
i kinda can draw a head but the other parts like the eye or the hair thats where i have problems
Practice what's more difficult for you and try to step out of your comfort zone when you have a cool idea ^_^
alrigh ty š
Here gang if you need some sources into detailed bodies, but I recommend starting with shapes
Also I can't source them out since I collected these in Pinterest so mb to whoever owns these š
free brush thing isnt really a bug, its intended feature
i also don't get why finger looks so pixelated compared to fully detailed hair
Could you explain what you had in mind when using grey color, and where the source of light would be?
i recommend also showing the video from drawing the sketch itself
it would make it more beliveable
ty it helped me alot
a great tool for finding out if an artwork is AI or not is SightEngine. On the right, I have an artwork by Oridays which comes up as 6%. On the other side, 1E2's art comes up as 99%, Stable Diffusion. You can try this out yourself and see that I didn't manipulate the results.
Also, @1e2 , Ibis doesn't skip over entire HOURS of rendering, which is what that jacket would've taken.
Not only that, the hair seems to blend into the jacket, a trope common seen in Stable Diffusion models.
They are no longer in this server I think, but yeah the art seemed fishy
I thought the same
Thanks for sharing a website like this
Or is it app?
ty
The audacity of self glazing was crazy š
I know that Ibis Paint has a tool that uses AI to color your drawings, and when I saw the sudden change in value, I knew it was probably that. Good on you for mentioning this!
it's just that the whole drawing process was actually erasing invisible layer of ai drawing that was actually under it
What they did was ai generate a drawing with stable diffusion, trace it to make "lineart" out of it, blocked out the general colors and just erased the mask that was on the ai drawing with an eraser
you can see this especially at water part, bro was creating parts of water out of nowhere which is funny
Same with first half of the jacket rendering, it also just spawns in š
That's a good point, I haven't used Ibis Paint in a while since transferring to PC so I wasn't sure what all Ibis Paint had added in terms of AI updates š I also remember that Ibis showed everything on your canvas at one point so it was hard for people to get away with tracing and such, but that makes sense considering the random start and the random cut in the middle
Also this š confused me a lot
From what I know ibis itself has nothing to do with AI (unless there was some update), but ppl like him/her, generate ai art on a website first then paste it into the app
I've been making a 6 page analysis of the art / time lapse proving it was ai but they just left š
yeah just like me yesterday I was about to write more stuff about water part and mock it but then I realised they left š
Ohh, gotcha. At some point they did have AI generation but after a lot of back-lash they had gotten rid of it, but as far as I'm aware, the coloring generation stayed.
They knew they were cooked š
Oh that's interesting, I used to use ibis long time ago so I don't rlly know new updates
Lmao it was kinda obvious tho
Personally I use krita. It's open source, free has a ton of brushes and Is amazing
I will defend it until the end of the earth
Ibis was my First app that I actually used when drawing on the phone haha
Omg me too!! Krita is the best. It's literally the equivalent to Photoshop but it's free
Krita is for pc only right?
The perspective/ vanishing point tools have SAVED my ass multiple times
I'm still figuring out how to use it, it's great regardless though! ^_^
i hope you continue to like it. it has a bunch of features and yes, it does have timelapses
Yeah, I tend to always have it recording just in case!
i have that disabled cause it just takes SO much space... 2 Gigs / drawing š
what device do you use to draw?
i use pc and screenless tablet ^.^
Absolutely valid.
any recommendations or tips to screenless tablet model
I was thinking of getting it one day
ignore any other brand, get XP PEN
best of the best. High quality, good prices
I use a PC with an XP PEN 13.3 artist pro drawing tablet. It's the first one I've ever had and it's a great start.
XP PEN and Huion are about the only good brands I know of
My first drawing tablet was the XP PEN Deco PRO Medium and I still use it to this day
(I might have gone through a lot of pen nibs tho)
Real. I haven't had the experience of changing a pen nib quite yet, I'm very cautious
it might be because i draw like 7 hours every day
That adds up
idk how xp pen does it, but they use some black magic so that my pen doesn't require battery
it's amazing honestly
I'd say, yes, go for either a XP PEN or Huion, my first screenless drawing tablet was a Huion and it's very smooth, has it where you can plug it into your phone too. Mine was gifted to me, but I'm pretty sure they go for $40-200USD dollars, $40 on the sale side ofc
I know right! It's like a Bluetooth mouse except you don't have to charge it..
That's crazy
what would you recommend i should get for my first screen tablet? (PC connected)
XP PEN for sure, though it definitely has its buggy moments. It's very manageable, and the XP PEN site comes with accessories if you ever wanted to change the degree that it's leveled at.
i meant like a specific xp pen tablet recommendation from your experience
Ohh, gotcha. For me, the artist 13.3 pro is a nice start. You will need an HDMI adapter if your PC only has one monitor slot like mine. The cords are easy, the directions are clear and some of the cables are labelled.
It has adjustable brightness, plenty of buttons, and the pen comes with plenty of pen nibs.
You will need, maybe, a little extra space for the XP PEN plugin, which I'm sure for previous drawing tablet users is a given. It's a pretty small plugin but I thought it'd be nice to mention.
sadly it says it's "currently unavaliable" on the EU site.
Aw...
Well, I think any of the XP PENs would work just fine.
Artist 13.3 ProV2 on the EU site (it's on sale, ā¬260.79) is way cheaper than any other retailer in my country sells the Artist 13.3 Pro for...
is it worth it?
I'd say it is! I think the V2 expanded and fixed some bugs so :D
What should I name this gentleman
Bertolt!
i have the 13.3 pro, it has bad color accuracy (gradients won't look smooth) and if you're left handed, you will notice it gets rlly hot in certain spots at high brightness.
but it is more vibrant than my monitor, like the colors are pretty, idk
but non rechargeable pen and other freebies are nice (the stand doesn't have various steeps though, better get a laptop stand)
Alr thanks for the feedback!
also, i have been bamboozled and baffled. i almost thought that person was competent, so i gave them the benefit of the doubt. the sketch is also prolly AI too, or heavily referenced.
if they were silent about their art, aura farming, lmao they could've really fooled me
Lmao it's totally normal. Ai art is insane these days but it'll never replace us šŖ
i feel it's like food. the consequence of making ai competent and overproducing art similar to humans, it's mind numbing and makes us more picky. adaptive.
and i think it's nice more people, who don't even draw, start to appreciate the small things artists do now
That's fair, I don't really have the best eyesight so I couldn't tell that part, or maybe mine is different? I dunno.
it's much more noticeable around purple, red, orange gradients.
kinda like this (left is monitor, left is artist pro)
although if it's not present, mine might be defective (noticed it around 1 month after buying)
so it's good to keep the warranty around (but i didnt bother, too lazy lol)
Oh, interesting. Mine doesn't do that..
help how do I shade houses ive never really done backgrounds before
You should shade it by keeping in mind the location of the light source, which assuming from the titan, it's on the mid right. In addition to this, be sure to be aware what shapes or dimensions on the buildings will project more shadows, such as the wood, which may stick out a little more than the structure of the house. Door ridges will only cast a small shadow too.
I would recommend looking up pictures of buildings and taking note of the light, the dimensions of the buildings, and how shadows are projected onto other surfaces. If you want to, you can also look into the textures of the buildings, but that may difficult for some (I personally find it tedious, though the results the results were cool!)
omg tysm!!!!!
idk how to shade or how to look TnT
What app are you using for drawing?
Also do you struggle with whole shading process or only shadow placement
i finished it
It looks great!! I love the effects too, good job!!
Thanks!!!!
Thank you! Learn how to use multiply and screen layers when shading, learn proper anatomy, learn color theory, and learn how to use perspective!
Thanks Iāll work upon it , from now on
does anyone know how i would inprove my art? this is my first time doing digital art
Im not sure as this looks sick as hell ngl but i'll jus say this random tip: when shading shadows or stuff on the body i recommend using anything but straight up black (unless its personal preferance of then go ahead)
Can you send reference photo I kinda feel like face-hair-neck ratio to each other are off
They sent it in another channel, the proportions are sort of off but they can defo improve
I got few tips for scale, if you are drawing from reference and want to be better at eye reading of elements (accurate scale drawing) I recommend pasting the photo to paint for example and use guide lines to establish scale. Thereās actually interesting way to do that, you choose an element of drawing for example, mouth, eyes, jaw, head and others and compare them to others
Like here from the picture i can say mouth is around 3 eyes long (in that case, cause depending on art style it can be different)
Or like here that jaw is one mouth and one eye wide
I also noticed that the distance from jaw to mouth and mouth to the eye height is the same
And here you can see jaw length compared to hair
You can set points of where the hair should be, like for example for the eye height the hair point is in the middle of additional jaw length line
You can see that hair should flow like this (also take notice of negative space, itās not perfectly connected to the hair but it shows you the way hair moves)
So as you see the hair at the jaw height line ends here (blue dot) so its bit shorter that whole jaw
And HerÄ you can notice that in your drawing hair is wider than jaw
Thanks friend this is really helpful. I dont know much about art and im just getting started. Knowing this i can definitely start improving!!!
No problem! No need to rush, if you draw more you start to notice more things, and scale becomes easier. I can recommend some drawing tutorials if you are interested depending on what would you like to start from (color, shapes, anatomy). I also think that drawing from reference is a great start to improve but it's even better when you try to study it by drawing guidelines
Yeah im definitely interested. I drew an oc on paper about a year ago with guidelines but it honestly looks diabolical
I must have been doing something wrong
heyo, can anyone give me tips on how to render ears? Itās still a wip and iām hating the shape of it š (also tips on rendering dark coloured clothing ? Iām new to digital art)
I could
Im in vc if thats more convenient for you
Hey, can I chat with someone in DMs who has already gone through the journey of finding their art style and/or is past the "Frankensteining different aspects of different artists' work" phase? I'd ask for the advice here, but, it won't let me send pics in this channel.
Go to upload guidelines
Eh, still don't know if I can upload this picture. It's a reference vision board and only some of the pics has copyright signatures.
Iād love to help but my style is so insanely inconsistent š
Iād just focus on improving and a style should (hopefully) come naturally-ish maybe perchance
If that art in ur pfp is yours, u actually would help a little bit cuz' u have certain aspects I like.
What u mean ur "real art"?
As in locked in art when Iām trying hard
Hello anyone here uses toonboom harmony? I have trouble understanding nodes..
