Did you remove any barracks if so then yes the spare ones will come outside the anthill and patrol like guardians

Why would I fill in barracks when I need those ants?

Removing the foundation set to build the barracks yes but not after it was built

I did not.. it was the ant queue that accepted to produce more ants than the slots I had. I repeated the bug
