#Kami’s King Line: Discussion

For those interested, this channel is intended for the community to compose the hardest route up Kami. The route should be composed of all the lines currently published and lead toward the top of Kami without requiring major backtracking.

King Line is also intended to run routes consecutively, meaning you should not climb any other routes other than the ones listed for King Line. Scouting can be done through walking, bouldering (routes shorter than 5m), and rappelling only. This is to increase the difficulty of survival.

This is a community project, so engagement and change is welcomed!

#

did u realy just say try my route when you havnt tried the other rought?

#

my point is i read it and it seemed very ironic

#

u asked for feedback right, lime gave that, and u dismiss his suggestion and then at the end say your not biased but u never tried the other one?

heavy slate
ripe sluice
#

well is this a community effort or not?

#

or u just want a pat on the back?

heavy slate

Didn’t ask for it

didnt realize you were the head charge of all routes in this game and discord

#

my bad

#

who has the real attitude here lmao

heavy slate

I’m looking for constructive talk not attitude.

ripe sluice
#

lmfao

#

this explains it to me. i got it. you are the king of hard routes and any1 who doesnt agree is not welcome to contribute or participate

#

you are a crash out. im just suggestion u try the route he suggested before dismissing it becuz ur route is longer and on "averge more difficult"

#

when u claim its more difficult but havnt tried the other path it makes it seem odd

#

if u can accept that feedback i dont know what to say to u

#

telling my i have an attutude becuz u dont like my opinion lmao

#

lol not at all. if you felt attacked thats your own personal issues

#

i have no attitude im just explaining my opinion when i read this thread

heavy slate
#

Thank you for sharing. Was helpful.

#

one more tip, when debating route diffuculty or selection, if you refer to routes as "the route" instead of "my route" it will come across as less bias, negating the need to claim openly your not being biased when your work selection makes it possibly feel that way. hope that helps as you continue the COMMUNITY effort to discuss and find some of the harder routes. keep in mind difficuly in route ratings is subjective, and in real climbing requires other peoples asscents and compasrision of the grade given

#

route diffuculity is fairly subjective

#

maybe you should consider some criteria for setting ratings, or talk about what you think makes a route in this game hard vs easy. to me the only parts that are hard are generally blank sections or sections where there is no postive holds (or sections that require a very specific seqence of moves to pass), any climb with positive holds is generally pretty easy in this game.

#

i think by going into the shepherdess cave we can add another hard pitch before doing change 🤔

#

what do you mean, going from the shepherdess cave straight into climbing the vault without taking a break?

potent ibex
#

Big Cheese isnt too bad so probably Hit and Run. I'm still looking for some new routes on this wall though (I have some ideas), so it might change later.

#

I haven't looked as much at this wall though, so theres probs gonna be harder at some point.
And I also will say that it may seem biased that I'm sending only my own routes, but this is simply because I've spent more time on and made more Escarpment routes than anyone else

#

*the difficulty I rate these is for buffless. I do not know the exact effect buffs have on climbing, though I have seen people climb up massive aretes without footholds by using ultimate infusion, so I'm sure all of these routes are super easy with buffs

sterile ledge
#

How many need buffs… and can you accumulate that many ingredients? Like could you actually run them all in sequence?

faint zodiac
heavy slate
#

@sterile ledge He’s right. The core issue would be balancing chalk use because most of these require chalk as well, including ones the need 10 chalk ups. You’d have to compost the majority of your food and move quickly to allow grit to keep you alive. With only three bottles of ult, you can go food and drink less for at least 2 hours. So, if you ration well, buffs are not an issue. Chalk will be a diff story. Climb bot will be a compost factory.

#

I’ll go for the King Line here soon on Twitch. I want to let another week of routes go up. I have a feeling Dracula will be the first crux because it requires so much chalk in the beginning of the game.

faint zodiac
#

Eh, chalk is pretty easy to stock up on too if you just compost consumables that aren’t plants

heavy slate
#

Or The Herbalist.

#

I agree, but will be harder than buffs I think because the ten min wait if you don’t find enough

faint zodiac
#

Granted this is a larger backpack. But just to give an idea of how readily available ingredients for both are

heavy slate
#

Savage

#

Where you get every bottle?

#

List at least 3 spots so I can get those

#

Yeah the strat would probably be a foodless run

faint zodiac
#

There’s one just before the mirror where there’s 2 stone snowmen, above where the large chalk bag is. There’s one in the secret at the save point that’s inside the door about halfway up (easier to access from inside). There’s one in Damas’ place near the cookpot.

heavy slate
#

Those are all too far away. Where’s the early game ones?

faint zodiac
#

Early game booze bottles? Or are you wanting just the 3/3 plastic ones?

heavy slate
#

The end of King Line is easier than beginning by a lot

#

Plastic

#

Whichever holds ult

faint zodiac
#

Ah, my bad, those were large bottles with booze I listed. Anything can hold the ultimate infusion. And I can’t help a ton with item location below the doll wall. I went through and took screenshots for the wiki of all the lootable locations above the doll wall starting around the large chalk bag, but not below.

heavy slate
#

I see. Yeah those 3/3 plastic bottles will be key to surviving. The little 2/2 glasses are not worth the flowers really.

faint zodiac
#

The lowest 3/3 I can remember is still on the doll wall by the climbing robot at the top, it’s on the ledge below that. I think there might be one by the cable car in the vending machine.

heavy slate
#

This might actually be fun as hell because now you’ll need to wait out bad weather. Slab is impossible in rain.

faint zodiac
#

I know there’s at least one lower down. There’s the one with alpine cola at dome too

heavy slate
#

This run might mean staying the night at the mirror and trout cave to build up chalk on trout dishes

heavy slate
#

I’ve never run change…. I’m nervous lol

faint zodiac
#

Could also salvage things like energy bars and other uncookable food for chalk too tbh

heavy slate
#

Yeah it’s just that on some of these, especially the slab, I’ll burn through like 10 chalk on a climb.

faint zodiac
#

Unless you use inf chalk glitch

heavy slate
#

Nah. I don’t like glitches. Feels like a cheat.

#

I’m all right with using anything the devs gives me on purpose

#

What I do with it is my business

#

Plus I suck at that glitch lol

faint zodiac
#

Maybe it is on purpose lol they could have easily made it use a chalk when she places a hand automatically when you open the route view

Dump the big booze bottle with fireworks on Terraces… two dressed up stone figures. Think it is 4/4. I think I have found 5 3/3’s… would need to verify

#

Fill 2/2s with goat milk to cook… then trash before peril

heavy slate
#

Wait, where’s the 4/4?

#

Five 3/3’s. yeah I need those locations for sure.

sterile ledge
#

I will grab a shot of statues… and 3 juniper near by at grave

heavy slate
#

I’ll twist out the rooster near porkbelly wall and grease up the davenport up by willows creek.

sterile ledge
#

Hold tight

#

The two statues disappeared when looted like a backpack (yellow) and the 3 herbs are at red circle memorial

#

They are wearing beanies and scarves I think, lol

#

Found pic by scrolling

#

Flip top glass bottle

heavy slate
#

Are you running King Line now?

sterile ledge
#

No… messing around left of Alphane

#

I actually composted 3/3s the run I had that sucker too

heavy slate
#

Nice. There’s a cool traverse near there. Check out Event Horizon

sterile ledge
#

You can be sitting on the large flask, original flask and the flip top booze 4/4 on free solo pretty easy… that is more than enough to finish

#

The 3/3s just are taking up space

#

You may want more understandable

#

You have to detour right and do a short pitch to get bottle there then back down for Drac

#

So you will have two for Drac

#

I will track down the other 3/3 locations… hold tight

sterile ledge
#

Here is a questionable list…

  • Gym floor
  • Right of memorial under troutcave
  • Stone Statues Big Booze
  • Bear cave
  • Climber under Palace bridge (Big Tank)
  • Palace Well Big Flask
  • Peril cave ?size
#

There are a couple 2/2 booze bottle and the tea one you are gifted

#

Swear I am missing one, but who knows

heavy slate
faint zodiac
#

There’s a 3/3 to the right of the large chalk bag too under where the climbot is there

#

And then 4/4s there is the one by the snowmen, one at the bottom of the secret (if you already have the solar thermos), one near the upper bivouac site inside the secret on the right hand side. One at damas’ near the cookpot. And I think there’s a 5th im forgetting.

faint zodiac
faint zodiac
#

Did you see the other one I mentioned as well?

#

It’s got chocolate drink in it

sterile ledge
#

Yeah… I knew I had 5 when I composted 2 of them and all the tiny ones

faint zodiac
#

The bottom right on this is where the other one is

heavy slate
#

Dude this is awesome. You should get this for every area.

sterile ledge
#

Get the bottle… like 4 other things you can use for chalk

#

Then you can go turn fish into chalk

faint zodiac
heavy slate

Jumbo Love’s crux is the hardest move of the climb so far.
This was also the first time I’ve ever successfully strung Cornered Fox into Jumbo Love. Very cool. I need to know what the hardest climb up to Change is….

Hmm… hard to say. I’ll tell you what. I’m running King Line now. I’ll attempt to end out left. If it works, we’ll swap it. Though I don’t feel good about possibly causing someone to be unable to finish. Mixed bag.

woeful forge
#

do you think free solo king line is greatest feat? I've been working through it on alpinist and I don't think it's that impossible to do it without falling

#

i guess not being able to refill chalk on holds would be tough

heavy slate
#

Free Solo King Line would be greatest feat, yes. As it stands though, the ending is sort of weak. I’m trying to find harder stuff toward the top to make it a bit more climactic. I’m currently on Kami area. Stardust might be ending but I don’t like how it glitches at end so looking for something else.

wooden jay
#

Yeah I think the aesthetic is just as important as the difficulty for a king line

potent ibex
#

It should be something that’s hard, but that you want to climb because it looks amazing, not just cause it’s hard

#

Like on tenzen for an ultimate run I would do bushfighter and not butterfly because butterfly isnt that fun

heavy slate
#

Yeah that’s why I don’t like Stardust for the end or Tombstone even though it’s beautiful the climbing is fairly boring. Same with Hades, unfortunately. Gorgeous but rather repetitive.

heavy slate
# woeful forge i guess not being able to refill chalk on holds would be tough

It’s possible to free solo. There are ledges on many routes you can move to refill your chalk. You would simply have to avoid “End of The World” at the Palace and do the Lynx’s Journey.

The crux would be Cornered Fox to Jumbo Love as you only have 3 chalk and one rest point for a total of 6 usable chalk. Also Change with 3 chalk would be rough. You don’t get the better chalk bag until after Change and Event Horizon if you do the line as intended from ground up.

heavy slate
#

For “Spiraling The Spire” do the King Line Variation.”For a full free-solo climb video, check out that route’s channel. For quick reference, here’s a short video of the exact line:

@pearl nimbus Have you started KL yet?

checking hard routes then a big project after that-

Me either

I am projecting a route on the split tower just before Damas's bridge

#

"Another Fucking Vertical Rail" title pending

heavy slate
#

Yeah I tried not put so many in a row for KL, that’s why I skipped adding Coroner, because it’s just another. I also put one up yesterday but didn’t list it because it’s a bunch of aretes in a row too. Hopefully you’ll like the diversity on KL. Lots of cool sections you won’t find elsewhere.

pearl nimbus
#

I could spend all day on great roof variants / overhangs in general

heavy slate
#

Dracula, Jumbo, Change, The Hangover, Iced Latte, The Maw, and The Black Death all have roofs. Many more of them are just overhanging routes.

#

You’ll like TBD I think. Two roofs in one.

heavy slate
#

The first King Line ever is finished!!!

A lot of work went into this. I worked on routing and connections every day solely for the purpose of developing this line, and I’m really proud of how it turned out. It came together much better than I expected!

I’m looking forward to watching everyone attempt it and to watching everyone change it as climbers establish harder routes.

Thanks everyone for helping build this!
