made my cucumber syrup, and gotta say it turned out lovely. was a little worried the heat from the syrup making process would destroy the fresh cucumber taste, but I added them after i had all the sugar dissolved so it was fine
once it's cooled later this evening I'll try running a cocktail or two with it
2 cups of water, 2.5 cups of sugar, 1 ounce of lemon juice, stir over medium high heat untill sugar is fully incorporated and the liquid is completely clear, and one whole large cucumber sliced up and broken into the syrup, stir over low-medium heat for about 5 minutes, remove from heat, allow to cool for about 5 minutes, then fine mesh strain out all solids and bottle.

general rule of thumb is a simple syrup is 1:1 sugar to "water"(fluid) ratio. Rich syrup is 1 part fluid two parts sugar, and a semi rich is like 1:1.5
last one I made I used two cups of sugar, and switched out one of the cups of water with equal parts lemon lime and orange juice. it was real nice

Coffee Club! With the recent mention of C&C in general chat,I feel it's a good time to let y'all in on something.
In a couple weeks I'm planning to start a weekly event Mondays called Coffee Time.
It'll be a time to break down the weeks event schedule, take event suggestions from the community and let people share their favorite moments from previous events.
I'm not Chelsea, but I'm gonna do my damndest to bring back the vibe that inspired much of this forum.

Yeah, it was at the con I went yesterday one of the biggest Asian stores had the biggest booth and there were lots of tasting and new products. One was chocolate milk with sesame chili sauce it was so good u bought a bottle of the sauce

And brewed is correct. All coffee is brewed technically. Roasting is what is done to the beans to give them their iconic coffee flavor.
There's drip, where hot water is fed through a filter with coffee grounds and drips through into a container, there's press, where the grounds are thrown in with the water and then pressed down with a screen plunger, then there's percolation like the moka pot has where the water is boiled under the grounds and rises through them into an upper chamber where three coffee is deposited which makes a form of espresso, and uhhh... @hoary eagle am i missing any?

Used to have one of those in my room. It was my alarm because I would set it up right before bed and program it to start brewing right around when I should be waking up. Lol

The flavor of my coffee has more flavor with the Keurig but this just tastes kinda roasted
It's not bad it's just not amazing or anything
Like it has a kind of burnt flavor
The coffee grounds are a mild to dark roast

That's a matter of portion control. The risk of drip machines with a hot plate is burning the coffee after it's brewed by leaving it on the warmer too long. If you put more or less grounds in the filter it will change how strong the flavor is.
Keurigs give roughly the same flavor every time because they're precisely portioned. The same grounds to water ratio every time

I use a French press with freshly ground beans every morning and I let the grounds steep for at least 5 minutes but no more than 10, always get a nice, never scorched coffee

Coffee grounds goes in, water goes in, plunger goes in, and presses the coffee down through the water and makes coffee and keeps the grounds from getting into your cup

Things you'll want to consider. Bulk preground beans tend to be ground for filter use. Too fine for a French press. Lots of stores have grinding machines near their coffee sections for pre grinding it yourself, you'll want coarse grounds.
Outside of that, it's just boil some water, pour it into the press with the grounds, give it a few minutes, and gently press the plunger top down

Nothing wrong with coarse. In a drip machine coarse isn't great because it has less surface area to extract from in the small amount of time the water is in there. But for a press where the grounds and water have prolonged contact and there's no filter to catch tiny particles coarse is exactly what you want
People who say coarse is bad likely only use methods that utilize fine
