It's a nice idea and definitely worth expanding on, but you didn't think this through.
Any turn taken by any player must be followed by a turn of every other player at least once before it's their turn again. You need to be able to react to their turn, otherwise it becomes a one sided game.
The problem of turn order is much more complicated for it to be solved like this.
It contains the balance of: Card mechanics, Bonus troop income and attacker's advantage.
can you illustrate how the rotation works after the first & second turn? it's not clear to me what turn 3 would look like in this example...
This idea has been proposed before. I think we all concluded it breaks all the game modes, especially fixed and expo. In fixed it would allow some people to claim continent bonuses and nobody would have the opportunity to break them. In you example you game you showed player 6 going last then going first the next round, thus he had 2 turns in a row. This means he can effectively get free continent bonuses. In expo, where trading on 3 or 4 matters greatly when that golden time comes, being able to gain 2 cards gives you the ultimate advantage. Allowing you to skip a card to make sure you either don't get killed at all or you get killed last or collecting a card then having the chance to trade immediately.
Though your "randomized" idea would have these impacts much less assuming people did not know ahead of time what turn they would have on the next round.
Great point, but we could think about reversing the turns? So like every turn instead of going forward, they go backwards?
Plus, this is a setting, not the whole game, it is chosen by the host to add it, having 2 ways to use it (on and randomised)
If we continued how i originally said, it would go on turn 3:
- Player 5
- Player 6
- Player 1
- Player 2
- Player 3
- Player 4
If we changed it to this, turn order would go:
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1 (again)
- 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2 (again)
- 3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 (again)
- 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4 (again)
- 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (again)
- 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (again)
Reversing it would have the same issue. I get you that people can just turn it off.
Player 6 getting back to back turns seems easily exploitable (take asia, end turn, get asia bonus troops)
Yeah, I think back to back turns is ... probably not a good thing...
