Hmm.. I like the idea in theory but I'm also like... idk, there's a lot of petty reporting and I don't know if I really wanna hear about it? Also not sure about the notifiying other players about reporting thing... feels like a way people could gang up and be petty maybe.... uncertain
I think if there was any kind of notification about being reported then there'd have to be an immediate appeal for this to make sense, bc if it tells you someone reported you and you don't think that's fair you should have the right to make that point
ye i agree with you on this
it’s just information. So petty reporting doesn’t matter. If it’s not true you can ignore, but if it is true, you should get nervous. The idea is to provide INSTANT feedback. Currently players have no clue what exactly triggered a ban. Instant feedback will also act as a deterrent.
Gang ups will not be a problem as reports are still reviewed by SMG, and as noted in the idea, false reports, especially gang ups, will be penalized. No need to appeal unless SMG actually agrees with the report, same as today.
Instant feedback also provides instant triggers for malicious actors - whom you definitely don't want having that data
i don’t understand. what data would they have other than “one or more of the players i am playing right now muted/reported/blocked” me? and what harm could they do with that info?
they can guess and retaliate
I don't think it is going to play out like you think it will. I think people will use the mute future to troll people. Imagine someone unmuting you and re-muting you just to get at you. A troll will troll nomatter what. Same with the other reporting feedback as you described. Imagine people intentionally reporting you and using this as a means to get at you further. Not only did a troll predatorly report you, but now you don't know until after you forgot who was in the match. Could add insult to injuries.
the behavior you describe would be trivial to detect and punish/prevent
Oh sorry. I thought I was on a different idea page. I don't think it is trivial. I think this is exactly what it would be used for. Imagine someone sending you emotes a few times and your feelings getting hurt then THEY themselves mute you. lol
