I see little reason for it to not be an in-game feature also after a network overhaul is completed.

Just having a complete battle log for the whole game and accurate stats for every game you’ve played would be a dramatic improvement. Having playback as an in game feature especially with the ability to view games with fog off entirely or as viewed from the perspective of an opponent would be an awesome feature especially for content creators. I’m not gonna hold my breath. If SMG continues at current rates of development we might see the pretty basic feature of complete stats for finished games in 2035 and video playback in 2069.

The feature most likely would not be a video play back so much as a recreation of every move and in game action based on a complete log. That is what would allow the ability to view the game from any players perspective or with the fog off etc.

I'm pretty sure the battle log currently is generated client-side, but it has an entry limit (so client doesn't actually store a full history of the game it's playing, just last X actions)
pretty sure a full battle log history would be feasible server-side though 👍
