Don’t think any change is necessary for contest purposes, but the lines on the rock formation below Giant Boulders and a few similar artistic bits would need to look less like your connection lines for final in game use. (Assuming I’m correct that they aren’t connection lines). Very nice visuals overall 👍
What does cores of revival “continent bonus buffed to +6” mean?
And do the changes to attacking and defending dice apply just to the held territories generating the change (when they have the bonus) or all territories that the player holds?
- Valid point, they arent connections.
- I felt like i need to include my reasoning for cores of revival. It simply means that the bonus is much higher than for a normal 2 territory continent (due to its disadvantages), and it's the same troop count as shown in the bonus boundaries picture
- Dice changes apply to every single core you hold, no matter whether you hold the entire bonus or not, same goes for Citadel Towers.
Wow, incredible work and presentation, the description gave me goosebumps...
Still I'll have to evaluate all maps at the end of contest before I cast my votes
Okay so to restate just to make sure. If I held “Time heals scars” and “Core of Nature” then I would have the +6 two territory bonus of “Cores of Revival” and -1 attacking dice -1 defending dice on both of those territories, but if I held only one of those territories the -1,-1 dice would still apply to that territory. And similar logic applies to all the other Cores. Is that right?
Very cool dynamic. I see a lot of thought went into this and looks like you have many other exciting ideas as well. Pretty much could design your own game here! But it would work great in risk as well. Not sure if I missed the explanation for the 4th “recipe” image.
Do the “Cores of Fortification” allow any special fortification ability similar to a portal or is it just a cool name?
You understood the first point right
And Cores of fortification is just a name.
I actually thought about creating something else with that concept. I thought either about my own game or a minecraft mod.
Obviously a lot of concepts would work differently but i already thought on how i'd resolve it in each case.
Oh I think I get the recipes. Additional bonus multiplier for holding a particular territory from the center with a core or bonus from the outer part. Cool.
which recipes?
These are custom cards xD, is that what you mean?
It works the same as fixed works in risk
you have infantry that's worth 4 for 3 cards
etc
Territories are present there as an example of how the entire card design should look according to me
Oh those are the cards. I didn’t get that. I thought it was a codex for deciphering the bonus multiplier relationship between the towers and the bonuses. I see it now… cards! I was over thinking it. 🤣
Lmao
I thought that i was too lazy when making this graphic
and some people aren't getting it xD
Is there a relationship between the towers statues and the bonuses they correspond to or just cool names again?
explain
It's just a name but what are you thinking about?
Oh.
Statues are actually representing each of the 6 parts of the map.
Named after the most "iconic" thing from each part.
The map parts actually have their own names (by a map part i mean each "big" island), but i didn't include them in my post.
I thought it was an overlapping bonus possibility which has been proposed before. If you hold the center good bonus but if you hold one statue and the outer bonus it corresponds to then extra bonus… that sort of thing.
Oh, even if i wanted to add some cool mechanics, the "viability to be added" limits it
I keep writing tower when I mean statue 😂
Initially i didnt want cores to be a part of any bonuses
And cores of revival were supposed to have some sort of a capital bonus - 3 troops per turn if you hold any.
1 territory bonuses are possible I think or should be.
There was one on roman empire map
but i think it got changed later
I wanted to make the map as viable for implementing as possible either way.
While keeping the interesting elements of it.
Yes this is playable without implementing any new mechanics.
But…The Great Wall exists as a plus 1 in one direction only so your map as is depicted and even with the more interesting or weird mechanics it implies should be doable by SMG.
Out of respect I'm gonna be totally honest:
what I think could be improved:
- "bonus readability", to me it is often difficult to understand at first glance which islands constitute a bonus, IMO the best risk map designs have readable bonuses without you having to open the bonus distribution interface
-> that is the case with the magenta + blue bonuses in the middle and the black hole on top, even though they are "island bonuses", because they are [point symmetric].
not sure if i put it into words correctly.
what I like about it:
- artistic vision and atmoshphere in general, the middle bonuses are really interesting looking geometrically shaped bonuses
- you got the evil black hole but also the holy light at middle left (which could maybe also be a bonus), tornados and sh**
so yeah, just the bonus readability could be improved
About special territories - after some more consideration i'd make the Citadel Entrances only get that +1 defending dice when attacking from the outside of that structure.
