I think this map would be a great addition. Nice work!
thanks, honestly got no idea if it would be a good map to play, I just based it on the real structure of manhattan
Ya looks awesome and high quality
Aside from orientation , I really like this! Could be a top tier prog world dom and zombies map π
How many territories?
Thanks m8, the right grid (slightly more simplified) is 106 territories I think.
Another question: Would you guys prefer the connection of territories only via "touching sides" or also diagonally across intersections?
(when 4 territories touch in the corner)
I somewhat think only via touching sides is more fun and skill based, in reality you also don't cross an intersection diagonally, and the grid is derived from important streets...
I couldn't bring myself to change the orientation T_T
The map is too iconic as it is
Ok, may a bit too large for zombies, but definitely great for other modes π
Looks fun π
Yeah, thanks, maybe it is, we'll never know T_T
It just felt like a worthy first map design for fun
Ohm, the only concern for me is the square-like connections usually are not very visible well (if they work in both diagonal directions). I don't know how you imagined that π
Not talking about the one diagonal avenue that makes 6 territories meet in one single point sometimes? Do they all connect there?
It would be weird if the diagonals connected (and a better map if they donβt, I think). π€ I know there are weird maps like Las Vegas and a few others with inconsistent diagonals (some connect / some donβt). Best for it to be consistent across the whole map.
I know a lot of territories would connect to exactly 4 other territories (with a few connecting to 5 or 3). I think that is okay and will make interesting pattern of flow and a good map. All diagonals would make a map that would be way too connected.
I'd also tend to the opinion that diagonal connections where 4 rectangles meet is too excessive, territories that have touching sides is where the connections make most sense to me
@smoky cipher The Map Design Competition has opened for 2025 now. If you'd like to enter this map into the competition you can repost this.
You did this a while ago but its extremely well made so, in what application did you do this so it looks like risk?
thank you, I saw the announcement, just posted my 2nd map design, this 1st manhattan i will post later
thanks for the compliment, I drew it in "krita" (like photoshop, but free).
I studied references of the game and literally drew the design, I can share more details in case youre interested
Damn, i also did mine in krita(check the map design submissions) but mine looks way cheaper lol,
yeah id appreciate any tips you have
