so basically in multi mode you would go into fortification stage, do as many as you want and then click an "end turn" button of some sort
I think this would be a huge benefit for players that are already bigger and stronger, since they have generally the most struggle with managing the leftover troops all over their territories, and it takes away the strategy to plan your drafts and attacks to leave as little troops behind in unneeded places as possible.
it makes card blocking much easier
it removes a lot of strategy in terms of troop placement, and becomes more a question of who has more troops overall I think
thinking about it a bit more, it might be a cool alternative gameplay and worth the try.
I think players in most situations would benefit from this new rule, like players that hold a continent can quickly mobilize troops and concentrate them on one territory for a future attack,
players that hold no chokepoints can better defend borders,
in unstable portals mode the big player doesnt have to constantly spend alot of troops to place on portals to leave them behind later because of lack of fortification manouvers,
and the scattered player can more easily collect themself faster.
all in all it might make the game more dynamic and enable more strategic options, but also it can make turns take longer and it reduces the strategic thinking of how to attack and manage the troops with a single fortification.
Being able to fortify as much as you want without any restrictions seems a bit much (and kind of takes out the skill factor of managing your troop placement), however I've played the board game with a similar rule before:
You can fortify multiple times, but only from one bordering territory to the next. If one territory has already been fortified from/to that turn, then it can't be fortified from/to again.
This way you can fortify a lot more, but you're also not as mobile, leading to a different kind of game.
that sounds interesting.
Do you know other custom rules that you have tried? that work well? I might use them on the board game aswell, or it could be a good suggestion here if it wasnt posted already.
that's an interesting version of it for sure
I'm glad you thought about it more ๐ I think that's cool. I appreciate that open-mindedness!
my pleasure
