If its balanced blitz always use the slider

That's not possible in BB. Even if not slidering you'd need a much bigger stack to lose 4 troops without slidering

# thin glade I’m a noob, what does this mean?

There's a slider on the bottom right where you can adjust the % of troops you want to commit to a battle. You want to make sure, you always use the minimum amount of troops needed to win a roll with 100% certainty. In this example, to beat 1 troops, you need to attack with a 4 stack to lose maximum 1 troop so you adjust the slider to use only 4 troops (3 attacking troops to be precise). If you use more, you commit more troops and you could lose more than what's possible with a perfect roll. It's a weird error in the game imo but if you play progressive and have a huge stack moving around the boars, you can easily lose 10 troops on a 1 if you don't slider..
