I just posted a suggestion on increment to do EXACTLY this
But instead of having delay it's increment. I think increment is a better feature than delay due to how you can abuse delay
Someone could be using the delay system to gain extra thinking time
I mean increment doesn't help in the same way as delay does as if you attack really slow you might lose time on attack and if you are fast you gain time but it's probably a better middle ground than delay that can be abused
Maybe it could be delay increment and not bonus increment
I really like the concept - but I don't think in execution it'd work;
- takes screenshot
- "places troops slowly" (multiple territories / one at a time or whatever) - which effectively hinders detecting just waiting during the placing
- also becomes virtually undetectable from abuse side of things - it's already a bit annoying that screenshot for seeing capitals (or screen markers) are used, mostly to save spending time finding it later or remembering it - adding more stoppers would probably just be opening to further exploitation
Yes let me scroll 2 troops for an hour I totally need that time
Ugh, that's a good point, I haven't thought about that. Is there any way to potentially solve that?
Maybe you would have to implement a separate timer for moving troops of about ~3 seconds? Or less?
Moving troops should be possible by simply typing the desired amount of troops if it's a massive one anyways, these ideas could work together.
That would essentially turn it into something similar like the idea to have "time increments per attack". Maybe that one was better to begin with.
The more I think about this, the more I realize that this idea isn't practical.
Some form of time increments would be perfect. I know of at least two options that have been suggested recently.
i think the most important phase in game is attacking, so as long as you're attacking territories, you should not run out of time, therefore i think, you should get extra seconds in order to finish your attacks and not run out of time
as another solution, maybe limit the time for troop placement and fortify and give the most time possible for the attack phase
The closest I can think of is actually pausing using buttons for 30 seconds (ensuring that all players have 30 seconds to look at the map / decide pathing etc) - but, that's basically what other player's turns are - and it does add some painful we just want to play! pauses if it was added.
The next closest would be back to dynamic timer, maybe giving everyone 10 seconds, and adding 5 when attack is made - but again, with attack speed differences, it'll still be a factor for thinking time
I think my original suggestion on this like two years ago is the ideal solution.
You have like a 30 or 45 second turn timer and every time you make an attack you get 1-2s back. So essentially you have 30s to place your troops, and the as much time as you need to actually make an attack. The point of the turn timer is to keep games a reasonable length. This suggestion would actually shorten games from the current method because if all you’re doing is taking a card and passing then you only have 30s instead of 60
would also make eu advanced, us advanced and other huge maps not as speed based
Yep. It would make the game as a whole not speed based. You would obviously still need to be able to think and place your troops at a reasonable speed, but for the attack phase you could attack for as much as you have troops no matter your platform. It would be better on every map. Even on maps like classic I’ve beaten slower players just because they couldn’t quite get me every round. On maps like EU advanced or other huge maps even people like me moving about as fast as you can, we can’t even get all of our attacks in.
