When I was reading through and you said 2 ideas, I was half expecting that the nuke was going to completely decimate a territory

I kinda like the idea of only being able to nuke a territory if it doesn't block off part of a map from another - and instead is used to make the map smaller. Killing all troops and basically making a nuclear fallout/blizzard territory.

The added benefit is that you are effectively cutting down the game arena until you're down to very very few territories - it should make it easier for stalemates etc to be broken

Question is how does it interact with Caps, Imagine you have 400 troops on your Cap and the enemy has 380 in their's if he would nuke your cap it would make it super ineffective to have stacks on Caps

It would also be like waving a giant flag for your ally - who you nuke and more importantly who you don't nuke, tells a lot about a player's alignment.

There's also the increased luck factor, as everyone could store a nuke to then completely wipe out the troop leader too ๐Ÿ˜„

or you could have a thing like caps, a nuclear bunker for example which takes reduced damage from nukes

Nuclear Risk: Final Rough Proposition
A nuke can be targeted at any territory of the map as long as it is either a capital or doesn't fully block off part of a map from another. Once a territory has been nuked, all troops in that territory will die and that province will become a nuclear fallout zone (essentially a blizard).

Capital Conquest
When the setting is enabled on capital conquest, capitals will be replaced with nuclear bunkers. When targeted by a nuke, a nuclear bunker province will remain in play and only some of the troops will be destroyed.

Portals
When the setting portals is enabled alongside nuclear risk, targeting a portal with a nuke will result in that portal province being destroyed and the portal instantly changes to another location the very same turn.

Fog
When the setting fog is enabled, nuking a territory will temporarily remove fog around bordering provinces for the remainder of the turn for the player who dropped the nuke. ||Makes sense since a plane has to drop the nuke, you'd figure when dropping a nuke you'd see some of the nearby land.||

Nuclear Risk Settings
There will be 5 settings: off, equal, unequal, nuclear bounties and nuclear site (can use different names)
In equal, every player regardless of their income will get a nuke every 10 turns.
In unequal, a player will get a nuke for every 100 troops they place.
In nuclear bounties, once you kill someone you get a nuke. You can save it, but if you're killed with it the person who killed you gets the nuke you held alongside the nuke they get from killing
In nuclear site, a spot in the center of the map becomes the nuclear site. The person who controls this can gets a nuke every five turns. The nuclear site can be nuked but if it's nuked, players will no longer be able to get nukes or use that territory.

I do have another idea that will make nukes less common but will still be useful, once you kill someone you get a nuke. You can save it, but if you're killed with it the person who killed you gets the nuke you held alongside the nuke they get from killing

99% of the time in prog caps a stalemate happens after at least one person is killed

Sounds like player created blizzards to a battle royale type play. I like it.

One of the best explorations of a nuke idea for Risk. I like it. @jade relic

Curious thought - what if it was a modifier for premium settings allowing for more player interaction with these settings?
-# The nuke type is tied to premium setting selection. Only ONE premium setting can be active with nukes!

Fog- Each nuke can attack any territory removing any fog around it until that player's next turn.

Blizzards - Battle royale type of Risk where each nuke can attack an outermost territory freezing that territory for the rest of the game.

Portals - Only portals may be attacked by each nuke. Portal is destroyed and a new portal territory is selected in its place.

Proposed additional nuke property - territories attacked by nukes become radioactive reducing troops over time.
