Map suggestion? Um Sure, upvote from me!
I talked about this before so you might have solutions for this.
If I would only play 1v1 and get a lot of 2nd my average placement would be let's say 1.9, which would be good for 6 player ffa games, but is horrible for 1v1. So to show "meaningful" placements you would need separate listings for the following, 1,2,3,4,5,6 player games and then 1,2,3,4,5 starting bots. And all of them separated. At that point these stats would become too obscure for the average player.
Becomes almost a 6 by 6 table š
Yes but the stats would still be meaningful to the player. How else would look at them, anyway.
Using myself as an example I would know that I had played 6 player games whenever possible therefore only players not readying or hosts adding bots at the last second would be the exceptions.
Point is having the loses divided into placement positions would be useful to players who are regularly facing 4 or 5 reasonably skilled human opponents.
Players facing less than 4 humans should probably just ignore the placement positions and by no means should anyone else use the stats for evaluating other players skills since there just isnāt enough info without a much more complicated grid (which would be silly)
(The only thing I disagree with in this idea is the āskill differenceā between 6th and 2nd unless it means that it takes a lot more skill to actually play to win and finish 6th or 5th⦠3rd or 2nd in some games than to bot out and get 2nd in nearly every game)
The problem is, at this point, would we also want to separate ranked, casual and singleplayer?
E.g. 100 6-player wins against bots isnāt as impressive as doing that in ranked
For advanced stats, Iād love to see the game introduce a results API, so players can download all their data, and filter it however they see relevant, with their own spreadsheet or code.
Players who made a good results system could share it online with other players, just like people share their dice calculators online.
I always finish 6th when playing single player.
You could also give every place in every type a seperate "score" and then take the average of all
made an example, last column might be wrong, not 100% sure i made a correct formula, but you get the idea š
Games played Rank 1 Rank 2 Rank 3 Rank 4 Rank 5 Rank 6 Average rank
2 players 12 5 7 1,58
3 players 13 8 2 3 1,62
4 players 10 1 2 3 4 3,00
5 players 13 6 4 2 0 1 1,92
6 players 11 3 1 1 3 1 2 3,36
Total 59 23 16 9 7 2 2 2,24
im excel it looked better, but seems i cant post a pic
Hey guys, sorry to check this thread so late since I am the one that started it
Not sure if we have to make it more complicated then necessary but I would just like to see an average finishing place vs simply stating wins and losses.
And yes, I would only count the ranked games. Although you can make seperate tabs for stats ranked / stats casual / stats this and stats that..
x amount of wins vs x amounts of losses tells me nothing about how good a player is.
For all I know they can play only 1 type of game with 1 type of settings and even have friends (illegal but it happens) feed them the wins
If a personās average finish is 2nd, thatās a lot worse in 1v1 than it is in 6 player
I do think it's a big discussion in order to reach a medium with which the majority agrees. I submitted this idea to get this discussion started (it's not a map suggestion - I categorized it wrong).
I'm also not sure who decides on this or that it's even worth the discussion as I don't know if the developers wil even care
I canāt remember the last time we got a stats update, so drawing some dev attention to this area is good
Yes so obviously you keep what we have now - you have separate stats for the different game modes. And even different ones
In 1v1 the win vs lost comparisment is a good one to keep.
in 6 player games I would rather go with average placement
So developers are reading what we are writing here?
The ideas get exported to devs every couple of months, but not the discussion threads
Well, 1) I categorized it wrong and 2) I should have made a bit more of an extensive description then
I didn't know that would be the final form in which it would go to the developers
Could always post a new idea with a more refined version now itās been thought about and discussed more
It's ok. I think they catch the drift -> Ranking needs to be looked at š
I think just a separate stat between 1v1 and FFA is fine
Just like how we have W-L stats for both 1v1 and FFA
