I would love to see at least that alien mechanic in game, making revival possible seems fun and i think it would be a fun gamemode
Would aliens reuturn your cards? Where would you return if all your territories are lost?
Not sure on cards - for the territory taken it could have an alien beam effect (or a little UFO) in its place - so troops return where they were taken from - if it's a usable territory, any troops under it would be eliminated
For cards I think it'd not return cards if you're eliminated - so you're at 0 cards but 3x troops of whatever was there (imagine a capital with 1000 troops ๐)
What if you don't get any back? Does the UFO just leave one troop?
I vote yes overall.
However I feel like Alien Invaders should be it's own idea. It's own game type more similar to Zombies Apocalypse. 5 players with an alien AI player. The alien AI doesn't have any troops on the board at the start of the game.
Instead every round or every few rounds a small number troops are abducted/recruited into an alien army from each player. This number progressively gets larger as the game continues. Periodically, the sum of these troops may randomly invade a random territory or territories on the board.
It would be up to the players to cooperatively put down the alien invasion or let it expand. These troops would be more powerful than zombies. Equal to or stronger than regular troops, I am not sure?
Lastly the invasion force perhaps could also have a chance of randomly disappearing leaving behind troops for each player in it's place.
What do you think?
UFO leaves and you have a blank territory left behind - maybe a message "player now unable to return from the dead" or something like that
I'm mixed on that point
I do like the different game modes but I'd personally love if they were put into a section like Modifiers called Victory Conditions
All of those game modes modify the victory conditions (except zombies!) - if you put into separate sections like that you can mix and match whatever you like
E.g. I might want to set:
Speed Blitz (Round limit) - 20 rounds
70% Domination (can win by conquering 70%)
Capitals (can win by capturing all capitals)
World Domination (default condition, doesn't even need to be mentioned really?)
And add modifiers:
- fog of war
- zombie ai (1) / (option for 2 or more for "crazy difficulty" - since troop gain would all be boosting one another
- random flagpoints (hold for +1 card) - basically superpowered continent, but actually needs to be held for a whole turn
- blizzards (unstable) - blizzards move every X rounds, troops are frozen under blizzards and are disregarded for continent bonuses, players cannot be eliminated while frozen
Then anyone can just claim it via attack?
That is a very good idea. Playing Capitals with Zombies could be so fun, and I like the changing of victory conditions
Yeah ๐ so abducted troops territory is inaccessible but "empty"
If there's victory conditions applied e.g. world domination, you don't need to hold it
If it's 70% it could count -1 territory overall (though minor impact)
If it was a capital, the capital goes with it - then returns as empty capital or 3x troops capital (and can win without that capital if you hold the others while it's abducted)
That works, quite well
