Game/event specific leaderboards are used in most competitive leagues. Chess has separate leaderboards for different variations (Classic, Blitz, Puzzle). Track has separate leaderboards for various races (100m, 800m, 5K, etc). Gymnastics has separate leaderboards for different events (vault, uneven bars, floor exercise, etc). Most video games have separate leaderboards for different modes (Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Mario Odyssey, Mortal Kombat, Mario Kart, Gran Truism, Guitar Hero, FIFA, etc).

The current leaderboards are largely meaningless, because they are not comparing individuals playing the same game. It is comparable to lumping auto, motorcycle, bicycle, sailboats and runners together into a single leaderboard because they are all racing. Comparing a person racing a sailboard to someone racing a motorcycle is pointless because the races are fundamentally different. Likewise, comparing someone playing a Command Base C1X, progressive, cap game with fog and blizzards with a person playing a fixed world domination game on the classic map is pointless because these games are fundamentally different. In RISK, different maps and settings provide various advantages/disadvantages. In order for a comparison to be meaningful, leaderboard participants need to be playing the same settings.
