A chat message isn't enough to fix the systemic problems of unready players (who can't therefore send the message) nor the issue of players botting out from being unready or deciding not to play. It's too passive as a solution
Also "start game" serves a similar purpose, albeit with the slight annoyance of being an imperative rather than a statement.

Ready up in the lobby like other games have, would help avoid the game starting, and players turning to bots because they didn't click ready in time
