I'm trying to open up the South by fixing the bridge. I've got all the materials, save 3 tar and the fasteners which I'll do later. Can I get all the tar I need from the trader or is he gonna run out after 2 days? I don't do the canyon trials nearly enough to get enough rings to make it so I was kinda hoping I could just ignore it

You can only trade 8 tar. The other two can only be obtained through quests. Graham refuses to trade 9. tar

Get 2 buckets of tar by helping Elijah Samson who is located in Silverton. However, he will not refuse financial assistance either: some of his tasks can be skipped for 1000 coins.
Other 8 buckets of tar you can get by trading with Lumberjack Jason Graham (also in Silverton). He will ask you to bring 20 maple boards, 15 pieces of linen cloth, and 5 iron ingots for every single bucket. You can get 1 bucket of tar per 24 hours by trading with Jason.

Synthetic necklaces require three rings of the same level (three rings can be matched at will, but they must be of the same level)

I understand all that, but after trading 8 buckets of tar, does the trader run out and force me to do the quest? I'll never gather enough silver to skip it..
