ranch redesign

Wanna redesign my ranch and I've got a couple outer wall designs. One leaves a space between the outer wall and the Build line and another space between the outer wall and my base wall. This one is more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. And I do like it more. But my issue is space. Don't have any land expansions yet.
So we come to option 2 with the outer walls on the build line. And right up against the base wall. This one saves more space though I did question whether or not bandits would actually attack this side if the wall was on build line.

I suppose I could do first option and make a my outer wall one wide instead of 2 wide. I've seen some nice bases with one row walls. But most are higher level then I am. And have the walls higher lvl then I have RSS for rn. I want my inner base to be well protected and have decided that I'll do workbenches on the outside with storage in a center area. And a wall between. I am leaning more towards the second option if it will actually be functional. Thoughts?

Btw Which ever I do I'll add doors on every tile when I have the resources for it.

Idk if the bandits get stronger but figured that the bandits would get harder as I progress I just don't know how hard it will actually get and what's necessary compared to what's just nice to have as far as an outer wall design goes

2 layers of T3 walls will keep bandits out +90% of the time

I like that design alot how u have the inner line between for some chests too . I didn't realize u meant just two walls one floor. For some reason I was thinking u meant two floors 3 walls. I guess my brain took it as 2 layers. 🤦 I wanna position my base in the center like urs. And have it surrounded by fields and w.e. else I want..

When u fight raids do u just go outside? I was thinking of having window on either the outer wall or inner wall. And blocking off each tile with doors. Maybe a mix of doors and windows

But I like being able to shoot em from inside. I can always repair the walls n stuff after they die anyway

I never thought of that to be honest

But if you can shoot em from inside, maybe they'll be able to shoot you from outside

Plus you might not have the range to kill all 6 bandits from inside

I just go outside and smash them with a saber and a pet

Easy work

Even sometimes when I forget about raids and stay outside the ranch, they smash 10s of walls but don't get their hands on any resources

Oh and also the reason I have few doors and no windows is because they require fewer resources/effort to be destroyed. Walls require more dynamite and will frustrate bandits quicker

Really? That blows I would've thought they where stronger since they take more RSS than a regular wall.

I honestly haven't noticed them using dynamite. Is that like as they get stronger or just once u get a like T3 walls.

Do... Do they just go around the outside blowing em up instead of going straight lmao

Bandits can blow up one wall/door/window, regardless of its tier. They can’t or won’t blow up more. So in the end it doesn’t really matter for them.

But just like you can shoot through windows, they can shoot you (not melee), so a mix of doors/windows/walls is personal preference, as long as you have mobility to reach any part of your ranch quickly.

They do shoot back at ya but it limits how many can come at me at once. Maybe when I'm stronger or have better equipment to spend on raids rather then random events I'll switch to just going out at em. Probably be much easier once I get a pet. Kinda blew it early game and wasn't doing random events cuz I thought it was for later in game. So I'm a little behind on them and they just got harder. 😭

Well that Kinda sucks that having the highest tier walls doesn't stop em but I get the point behind the game mechanic. I think I'll do walls to block off each tile in the outer wall just for RSS sake but windows on my inner walls at least for now. Who knows later

I think higher tier walls means they would carry more dynamite so if you kill them fast you have a chance to get more but I’m not sure if this is true or not

In all the years I’ve played I’ve only found 1 dynamite per bandit corpse. The most I’ve ever found was 3 dynamite total (1 each on 3 bodies) but that was only once. A few times I’ve gotten 2 total, but 1 is most often.

Their gear/loot isn’t dependent on your ranch wall tiers, it’s solely based on their level, which is based on your level.

A lot of folks stick with straw/wood, but I advocate a minimum of a double wall, any tier stone. Inevitably you’ll be away from your ranch when bandits arrive and forget about it, get raided, and having a double stone wall prevents them from stealing anything.

There is one practical reason to continually improve the wall/floors of your ranch - they make handy places to “store” resources when you run out of storage space, especially if you are trying to save up resources for things like future ranch building updates, or eventually, alliance building contributions.

I've only been to foggy plateau like 5 times up till now.

That's good thing to keep in mind for late game I'm already running out of storage

Please ignore how stupidly my character is running the screen recording made my game lag 😭. I got my stuff mostly set up a few workbenches u see at the end of video I still have to move. I made half extra row cuz it's just wood straw rn. But I'll remove it later. Still gotta make wall off each tile and switch some out for windows but had to do it asap cuz I had a raid. Left some room to put other benches in as well. Just wanted to actually post it since I forgot lol

Good stuff, looks neat. I'd suggest going more the cubic route with the outer walls as it provides more protection. But overall, decent work.

I know it I'm getting ready to fill a lot of my empty space and I plan to buy land eventually but not anytime soon. 😭😭

I was gonna do the separate storage as the "lining" for my inner area and my chests set up inside the ring of em. But when I planned out space I'll be using shortly on "projects" I realized I would have a little bit more room then I initially thought

Never been my experience, and I constantly build and demolish before and after raids.

I don't really worry about the bandits anymore. I try to get to them for the bandit stash bug even if I don't I just leave trash in boxes outside of my main storage area they rarely take anything worth worrying about
