I forgot to ask, how to transfer a textures and a models from serious sam 2
Well, you should to export textures from SS2, it makes with next steps.
- Right click on texture, which you want to export
- Press Export button
- Place wherever you want this texture.
- Copy this texture in your workplace in Serious Sam 4.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+T to open import texture menu.
- Choose your texture.
- Use params you wanted and press OK.
- Profit.
And remember, when you imported texture, you shouldn't move it to any place, or editor will work with this texture wrong! If you need to move texture, you should to recreate this texture in folder, which you needed.
With models and meshes is more complicated, since SS2 doesn't has Edit Data, so you can't just save whenever you want, so I have this offer to you.
Create in Serious Sam 4 folders with same way, where you model is located, and just copy into your folder.
I'm NOT promising this will work, however, in Fusion models and meshes from SS2 was imported successfully, so maybe you have a chance too.
But ss2 textures have .tex format and serious editor 4 can't import .tex ?
And where is the export button?
RMB on texture you want to export, and in opened menu, press export button
Unfortunately, it's complicated, so not everything so easy, as you can think
I didn't put it quite right. Do I need to export a texture from a folder with serious sam 2 or from serious editor 2?
No, you need to export from Editor
You can't just took file from gro
You should export from Editor to get .tga file of texture
Thank you for helping:)
Then the next question is, how do I open a texture in serious editor 2?)
As far as I understand, it's not exactly the same as in serious editor 4?
No, actually they same
Maybe you meant materials?
In Serious Sam 4 they, but added Node Graph with more params to edit
However, you can't just check used material for mesh in SED2, since there no edit data, so you can just pray, there a material inside model in Shader modifier (Not mesh)
So better even use same ways for textures
I mean
You exported texture from
SeriousSam2/Textures/texture1/TextureName.tex
So you SHOULD have same texture in same way in your work folder
I know this stupid, but one of the ways, to export something from SED2
Thanks for the help, I will experiment 🙂
