Our store keeps moving things, so I almost have to walk aisle by aisle to make sure I get everything on my list. All I try to do is not go shopping hungry so I don't get a bunch of impulse stuff & end up with no real food...

Plus going aisle by aisle (and sometimes having to backtrack because I forgot something) that lets my pedometer keep clicking off the steps.....

Might make a loaf or 2 of bread tomorrow. Get some butter out of the freezer to thaw out & have some hot fresh bread & butter tomorrow (and probably put back on the 2 pounds I lost)

One thing I never want to smell again is a warehouse full of unroasted coffee beans. I was in Laredo TX at a warehouse on the US/MX border to pick up a load of freight & walked into the warehouse & my eyes started burning, my nose started burning & running & I asked the warehouse foreman what kind of peppers I'm smelling... Said it was unroasted coffee. Picked up a burlap bag that fell over & spilled & handed me a few of the beans-- green & very strong odor. I'd rather stick my face in a bag of habanero peppers & take a deep breath than smell unroasted coffee.

Set a can of sweetened condensed milk on a plate in a slow cooker (so you don't leave rust stains in cooker), fill with enough water to cover can & set on low for about 4 hours. Use tongs to take can out, let it cool, take lid off can & now you have caramel for your snacks.

Fruitcakes.... the most popular regifted Christmas gift ever......

The only ones I liked are the one's my mom & I made every Christmas. We made on average 5 bundt cake pan fruitcakes for family members since everyone liked the taste of her cakes. It took the both of us since the batter was so thick after making a couple, your arms were too tired to keep making them & using an electric mixer was out of the question-- it would just smoke the motor in one. Too bad I lost that recipe when we had to move everything out of the house after they passed. I'd have a couple of those cakes now to snack on.

I guess I didn't post this last night-- I thought I did. An odd combo sandwich-- sliced white bread with a slice of American cheese, cotto salami, medium hot peppers & spicy mustard. Actually tasted pretty good. the peppers really added flavor to a common sandwich.

Depends on the type of vinegar. Balsamic is good to add to spinach. Malt vinegar is good to spritz on fish. White vinegar is good for cleaning & cleaning coffee makers. Apple cider vinegar is good for cooking.

Fried cube steak-- even though tenderized with a meat hammer did not make it tender, so this time I'm cooking it under high pressure for an hour smothered with medium hot peppers in the pressure cooker. @glossy carbon Found a way to make cube steak melt in your mouth tender-- pressure cooker on high for 60 minutes. I smothered about 4-5 pieces with a jar of medium hot peppers & set the cooker on high pressure for an hour. Meat was really tender & the peppers gave it a good flavor.

Everyone should know the difference between 'Use By' & 'Best By' on a label. If the label says "Use by December 2020", that means to throw it in the trash in January-- even if it has never been eaten. If it says "Best by December 2020", that just means the manufacturer of that food product only guarantees it's freshness until that date, but it is safe to eat after that date-- it may be a bit stale or dry tasting, or not as flavorful- depending on the type of food. Canned food is an exception-- canned peas, corn, green beans can last for years if properly stored in a cool dry place & the cans are not damaged in any way.

Yep. You can use baking soda, baking powder, self-rising flour to make yeast free breads. There is also recipes that you use a can of Sprite or 7-UP as the catalyst to make the bread rise while it's baking.
