top speed cars often may not have the best of other stats, so in MP seasons where collisions are on, it's sometimes a bit risky to take them out as you run the possibility of being blocked or knocked down a lot easier due to mediocre acceleration, nitro, drift speed, drift radius, or a combination of them.

However they might have weaker physical fights against cars with higher nitro, accel and handling.

Well, handling cars are more consistent as @austere trellis said so they produce better results in MP especially classic since you can recover a lot better. For top speed cars, you do run the risk of getting rammed around in Classic but they are much better in ghost slip season. For the ghost season, it is very dependent on the map where if you have a handling map, an agile car will do a lot better unless you get matched with a Jesko or F5 that can legit take the corner really fast despite <50 handling and if it a TS map, top speed cars will have the ultimate advantage although they take longer to get up to speed.

plus, there was track voting so you could have some semblance of an idea of how to run your race
