I hit the car on the edge of the the road to the right there in the Pagani race pretty much head on with sw and blew through it

the route for that race comes up on the right from where you are there and there is a parked car on the left, between the two roads

many of these cars either disintegrate to pieces or they stop you like a 2ft steel block of wall. It's best to avoid them, especially in MP.
