I go through on TD without steering at all and I find it works quite well as long as you choose the good route

the AI reacts late and it will crash you in a couple of places

if you try to drift

it looks like there's a rough spot on the road right where you blew up

or do highly skill corners that they could crash to a wall, giving you breathing time.
