It's just normal mp with different scoring system. Winner gets 36 (or 32) points and last place got -1. Means that you can only progress. But you need a very high rating to advance leagues (I think 8200 to reach LL). And also the season lasts 3-4 weeks which was quite exhausting and somewhat tedious. But since you can't really lose, people tend to use non-meta cars which gave a lot of variety back then (except GS spammers which was OP back then).

And also many could reach platinum league by just using e-tense 😂 (just look at switch)
