I can't tell is just gameloft, I work from home and some of my job related apps were crashing too. I had no choice and it was my fault that I had turned off the automatic updates.

@umbral elm I would say that keep waiting for it to be completed if you are updating via windows update in settings, I've had similar situations in the past when I had HDD instead of an SSD.

my advice is DONT get the windows 2004 update I did game works yes but there are terrible problems with that version read the notes on teh net about it I rolled back to my old version

The only difference that I can see so far after the update is my laptop use less resources to work, it maintains a better temperature.
Also the notifications now are going to the side menu instead of poping up

Depends on your connection and PC speed. For me the whole thing took about 30 minutes or less. Incl. installation, restarts, etc.

It should continue downloading, if it wasn't finished, when you start it again.
If it causes an error, try the Troubleshoot option in Windows Update (on the left menu)

The game started working for me after updating windows to 2004. But....
The game keeps freezing a heck lot more than it ever did before. It definitely freezes at least for like a second in each and every race, sometimes more than 10 seconds and sometimes forever. I'm not sure if it's a 100% CPU issue, might be hard drive usage, but either way, the game is even worse now

Windows 10 is just bad, its just a tweaked version of windows 8 which had highly negative reviews lol and microsoft was like oh, here's some tweaks we will name it windows 10. It has alot of issues. They need to bring back Windows 7 and tweak that, its name could be Windows 7-11 π

Windows 10, they made it too security based, like its more for businesses and less for individual use. To mention one windows 10 problem is Security, it locks most folders and says you dont have the required permission to access this folder, even though you're logged in as Administrator lol, I wouldnt be suprised if this is the Asphalt Crash issue, if you go to program files, windows apps and try to launch asphalt from there, it will say you do not have required permission. Ofcourse there is a way to remove this using powershell etc etc but too much hassle. If i install windows 10 on my machine, and im the administrator i shouldnt have to be bothered by microsoft

This is a summary of what's happening to me:
- Had to update the game from Microsoft Store
- All the times I tried to launch the game, it was crashing
- They told me I had to update my Windows system to the version 2004 to run this A9 update (bruh)
- Hours trying to update the Windows version to 2004.
- After I did, the game loading lasts way longer.
- The game burns my PC way more than usual (from simply hot [before], to flame of hell [Now]).
- I get some FPS drops and FPS lags during races (even if I always played with grpahic settings set as lowest without issues) more frequently than usual
- Loadings after races lasts more.
Result? I risk to lose my PC because of a messed update.

@lone tree a9 is very good at keeping GB low and FPS high, thus the game needs a server conection. basicly thats why it has so high data usage

Again then. GL servers are probably rented, like most companies do it these days. Basically equivalent of cloud services.
Only issue lately for nearly any gaming company is routing to the clients from servers. Ive seen similar issue for some Blizzard games too, especially in EU. Servers are fine, just routes server-client are not.
Internet itself is becoming a bit too traffic heavy and thus if some "crossroads" is slower or overloaded it impacts anything that goes thru..
As for cars being somewhere else, game works on kinda P2P basis, what you see depends on data that other players send and its mostly result of that data and interpolation. If enemy player doesnt send data (lag) game simply interpolate whatever it thinks is correct and then when player finally sends its data it corrects it (which causes cars disappearing from one place and appearing somewhere else).
Not much way to fix that, apart ping limit and server checks.

am connecting with VPN nearly all the time during the day and am connected to the internet but when i open the game the VPN still on but i am NOT connected to internet . so i have to close the game then ON&OFF my VPN and again open the A9

@midnight rock Probably do, but if someone uses only last version of Windows and build it on that, they wont get (obviously) reverse compatibility. Unless specifically built with that (fairly sure most dev tools do have option for reverse compatibility quite a lot back).
IMHO, game should be made on last LTSC and have same requirements. Its only truly stable version of Win and takes away some issues for both players and devs.
Win updates are absolutely unpredictable in nature.

It does use ext4 sorts it all out for you when you first put it on - but its still weird the way ext4 can see win partitions but windows cant see it

Since upgrade i havn't been able to use tilt steer on my Lenovo tablet. I had to upgrade to v2004 and don't know if it is the game or the Windows upgrade giving the issue. Anyone else having this issue or any ideas. (brake and nitro buttons work in tilt...just not the steering). I just went back to Asphalt8 and tilt still works there so i don't think the issue is at my end.

@stuck quarry Ads for Airport City still plays audio after the ad ends & you click back to the game. Here is a video of the ad audio playing over the game audio long after the ad was closed.
The only way to stop it is try to open another ad & hope it's not another Airport City ad, or exit out of the game & restart it.

@fervent spire Yea that happens sometimes. Had ads not working for like a week, they fixed it after tho. Its sorta recurring issue. IMHO it might not be GL to fault, since ads are mostly third party something..

Alright, I WAS stuck on the Gameloft screen for a while. Solution was to install the 2004 feature update (PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE?) so I did that. Now the game WON'T EVEN START AT ALL. I uninstalled it to see if reinstalling would fix the problem, BUT NOW the mouse cursor changes to a "no symbol" when I go to click the 'install' button.
(maybe wsreset will work...)

@novel spear I have installed the new windows update twice now updated drivers tried reinstalling the game spent all week end on it and the game syill doesnt load reverted back to my stable original windows version now

Alright. WSRESET seems to have worked. It still won't let me click 'install', but I CAN click "Install to a device" and then select this computer as the device. It proceeds to install a 3.17 MB package - and then does nothing. I no longer can install it to the computer. If I look in my apps list, I can find it there, but nothing in the advanced options does anything except "uninstall", which just reverts me back to the beginning step.
The store page says I "must meet the system requirements to open the game", despite clearly having the requirements. It looks like the store is trying to verify that information but fails to do so.

Amazing job Gameloft! Guess what else your optimization did? Freeze my game so bad right after getting a lobby and before the track loads, so much that it's too late to start and instead Disconnect me. How nice it is to lose rating for something that's completely your fault

I actually had this problem a long time ago - I wish I recalled the solution. Someone mentioned doing a "clean install", but Store Apps are terribly difficult to uninstall fully.

Does anyone else have a windows tablet and use tilt steer? I've asked about this on several forums and put a ticket in to GL but ive had no indication of what the problem is.....mods, any idea?

Same problem here. I use a Surface Pro 6. Always used tilt steering. Had to update windows to get the mew "20 years" update to work. Now tilt doesn't work. I'm fuming. I've submitted a ticket to support.

@halcyon turret yeah, it sucks......really bad that they just don't seem to want to acknowledge the issue. Probably not that many of us using Windows tilt steer and they just don't seem to care. Mod's have answered other issues on this thread since this issue was first notified but they are just ignoring this one....sad. I hope they at least acknowledge the issue soon. Hopefully they are still supporting the feature, hope they are as tilt is still there as an option (since they dropped support for windows-phones i guess windows tablets might be next π¦

The hotfix was for the game crashing and the stability issues - it was not fixing the tilt to steer nor the loading times.

I prefer the previous version, i.e. 2.4.300.2, this update 2.4.400.2 completely messus up, there are only 1 or 2 competitors left for each multi-player race, that's when there is no network problem !

@versed maple Yea last version works on 1809 too. Altho its definitely smoother/less input lagged on 2004. But no complains, it works so its fine.

On YouTube, videos are working fine on auto ( 1080P) and here we have the game say connection errors. How many times do we have to write the issues here to make developers listen to the problems and solve them ? Please fix this. It's not even opening. When it does bother to open, MP is full those red ghost cars indicating poor connection.
