if any of y'all are using linux, arch in particular, don't upgrade fontconfig to 2.17.0. it made the gui not start for me, and i had to downgrade. pretty much, if you see "buffer overflow detected: terminated" during the upgrade, downgrade it back to 2.16.2 (had to use tty for this) and wait until 2.17.1 hopefully fixes it (the issue is with fontconfig in particular, it's not just arch)

make sure to also downgrade/ignore the 32-bit version of it too if you have it (for arch and derivatives it's prefixed with lib32-), else 32-bit programs (like steam) won't run

if you have a steam deck, or use steamos, you shouldn't worry, valve will probably catch this before shipping the update. i imagine it's the same with bazzite (which is fedora-based, but whatever)
