Yes, I sandbag with D-class defense. I don't know about lower divisions, but in all my Div 5 in all Gauntlets, this strategy helped a lot.

Moreover, I could open Devel already if I hadn't spent some tokens on 9x8 after the very first Gauntlet.

Regarding the sandbag strategy. The main point is to stay as low as possible to the 1100 rank. In this case, I can always find an opponent who gives me 5 gloves. Also, you have to win only 3/5 races to ensure you don't climb rankings fast.

It depends.
I usually do the following

1. I open the Challenge view and look for the opponent who gives 5 gloves with D/C-class cars. If I see one, I beat them.

2. If I don't have one, I go to the Revenge list and find an opponent who gives 5 gloves with the lowest rank. Because after winning another player this opponent can give you only 3 or even 2 gloves.

3. Anyway, after beating an opponent, I go to the Challenge view and do #1 check again. This helps you to beat more opponents and get potentially get more revenge in the future.

Last, but not least:

• After having more defeats, you revenge opponents can disappear from the revenge list. So you have to find a balance here.
• You last opponent (5th ticket) for the daily goals can give 2 or 3 gloves. Not necessary to find someone who give 5 gloves. Beause you have to get only 22 gloves per day.
