#Visual bugs with new building art

Inconsistencies and old resurfaced visual bugs i've found with some of the new art updates:

  • i.1: Rockets from the Rocket Factory disappear into nothing on the last frame instead of falling into the pile of rockets
  • i.2: Lumber Mill log and inner saw overlap on the last few frames before resetting to normal
  • i.3, i.4: Adv. Steel Mill is still way offset from from its tile, unlike Steel Mill
  • i.5, i.6: Cannon Tower and Raider Watchtower still use their old sprites when destroyed
  • i.7, 8: Farm and Sandworm Ranch still uses the old plant sprites when growing Cabbage and for the animated Sandworms (does not apply when ready to collect)
  • i.9: Construction workers with shovels have broken limbs (does not apply to the welding workers)

Tested on both Windows and iOS in the latest app version, should also apply to the other platforms

other things to note:

  • i.1: Gun Foundry still uses the old sprites for its animated lights
  • i.2, i.3: all of the buildings with new art don't have updated icons
  • i believe the Rocket Factory and Adv. Steel Mill have had these visual errors before the art update as well
  • buildings without new art aren't recorded in this bug report — i know the rest are still being worked on so i'll wait for those to be completed. absolutely loving these, by the way (genuinely almost shed a tear as i was zooming into all the hd buildings lol)

i.1: Bakery worker overlaps the entire building while reaching into the oven
i.2: Boar Pen and Camp abruptly cut off at the bottom corner
i.3: Mammoth in the Animal Trainer has its leg cut off
i.4: Raider on the right in Raider Training Camp overlaps the one on the left (also imo they should be further back but that's not a bug)

Field still uses the old Quinoa growing sprites (does not apply when ready to collect)

with the rocket factory specifically; correct me if I’m wrong but it feels like they’re having to model things using the existing animation.

i.e. the original animation and all its mistakes (including that last frame clipping thing) was kept because the devs are just changing the static textures or frames.

I think that’s why the baker in the bakery has such weird outlines or shadows too

its a texture swap; but the animations themselves are still flawed in most cases

That basically rules out the following from being fixed [animation wise]

  • Rocket factory
  • Lumber mill
  • Bakery
  • Gun Foundry

Does anyone have the normal steel mill? is that one red light in that animation fixed now?

gun foundry idk because it seems like the old texture is still being used for the lights

steel mill's broken light does appear to be fixed 🎉

if we set the reference point to be the large brown stack in the rear most of the thing, they seem to line up okay

but from the front, offset

they're lined up with the rearmost part, i reckon

... so that means the advanced steel mill's chambers would have to be longer

is it the distance between the rear cylinder and the front box the reason for the offset?

we know for both mills, the rear cylinder is in the sam eplace

#

but it looks like for the advanced steel mill - provided the box length is the same - its just pushed backwards more; closer to the cylinder

i copied and pasted the red lines from the normal steel mill to the adv one
