adds a lot of activity and life to bases

Yet to be coded into the game. The resource depot is effectively useless as well as resource nodes collect themselves. Seems temporary, though I enjoy.

Why would you make haulers work without the depot? I think in general people would like more animations to the base, but the only reason there were animated haulers originally was because Resource Depots were needed for your resource nodes to provide... Well resources.

Depots are a terrible mechanic and a huge waste of pop, please don’t bring them back as anything but a deco

i at LEAST want them back even if they do nothing but have animated cars drive on your roads

#

its way cooler than empty streets

#

if they never serve the real functionality again the pop has to go though

wicked ice
#

The “functionality” is “Pay for nano storage because you need to waste an extra 20 pop on depots”

#

Nobody liked the mechanic other than the fact it looked cool

twilit oxide
#

the functionality is have cool ass cars on the street and add a layer of strategy to base buildings

wicked ice
#

How is making pop hell worse functionality?

#

Or strategy?

sage glacier
#

I hated cramming my base full of resource depots every 2 feet because the range sucked.

twilit oxide
#

the strategy is building infrastructure around resources efficiently

sage glacier
#

That's a very loose description of strategy...

twilit oxide
#

the range could be way better idk why there was only one depot

#

oh i know

#

the real thing i miss is watching the haulers work

wicked ice
#

What putting depots in specific set locations and wasting pop is strategy?

twilit oxide
#

thats why the title says animated haulers and not depot functionality

#

so thats the only hill im going to die on or argue about

#

i primarily want to watch the haulers drive to my buildings and add some motion to the scene

#

feels more alive

Instead of the depot, I think it would be cool to have all the trucks drive to the supply drop

twilit oxide
#

see idk because theres a truck parked in the supply drop

#

so youd only see it pull up when its ready to collect i guess but in addition to the haulers it would be nice not instead

#

look idc if the depot is needed for resources but we need it back as a thing that dispatches haulers to drive around your roads

#

that was objectively cool

The vibes were good but the functionality was bad. Takes too many pops. That's why I said to have them ship to the supply drop so the vibes remain the same, it doesn't take up pops, and the building is also literally called the supply drop

i would honestly prefer more decorations you can build that involve some animated character moving around the base like a patrolling defensive structure or something else, since we know the game can support it

#

maybe if you could see your garrisoned units walking around the area

#

i dont really care about these having a function, like i said im asking for the haulers themself

originally I was gonna say it should be decorative or at least not consume population, but now that I think about it, and have read other opinions, I have an idea that I haven't seen anyone pitch yet

#

why not turn depots into resource boosters? like, any nodes within the range of one has increased production

#

I have all my iron mines maxed out and I'm still severely bottlenecked on it, which has really opened my eyes to this. I can't just buy advanced iron. there's only so many times someone can afford to buy nanopods

I'd have it no other way
