#Tragan Credit Union- Gold and Nano Bank

The Tragan Credit Union is an Imperial themed CU. In case you couldn't tell by my epic render, thats a statue of Emperor Tragan on top. Its also a third building to match the Hall of Bounty and Prestige Academy's architecture.

The TCU has two functions- Gold Banking and Nanopod CD (Certificate of Deposit)

Gold Banking gold_mountain

For gold banking, simply deposit any amount of gold you wish to save for later.
Gold in the bank matures at a rate of 0.1% interest weekly, with a weekly timer counting down to maturity each week.
You can withdraw your gold whenever you want, but only collected interest remains if you leave it in until the weekly cycle hits.
Upgrading the TCU adds 0.1% interest, up to a maximum of 1% int. each week at level 10.

Nanopod CD nanopod_barge

Nanopod CDs are a good way to get Nanopods for free but since Nanopods are rare, you're not going to have Sleesh Squeesh Dave's Morgan's House Exclusion zone using this.
The way it works is simple-
You deposit a number of Nanopods into the bank, with a minimum of 50.
After a long period of time, maybe about 4 weeks(?), you get 5% of what you deposited into the CD.
You could withdraw the nanopods at any time, but doing so before the CD matures will not net you any interest.
Upgrading the TCU adds 0.5% interest to Nanopod CDs.

Why use this building?

As mentioned before, we really need a third building to match the Prestigous Academy.
But most importantly, it would give players an incentive to contemplate how they want to use Nanopods. They must consider- Should I spend them now for a boost, or save them and earn a few more? This could be the difference between an M10 and another unit, or a store vs Adv Resource.
I see this building being unlocked around level 20 or 30 because thats when the game gets hard and nano decisions become serious.

And again, the numbers might need to be tweaked and even capped, but an idea like this could be helpful

#

"Why tragan, why not Emperor Hendrik II?" Idk, tragan sounds cooler but it could be Hendrik II since hes more important.

Also I forgot this is a unique building so you can only build one. Likewise, maximum deposits might need a limit too.

I thought this was a cool idea but i can see why it didnt take off. Most people arent interesting in printing free gold since gold is so abundant.

On top of that- why you would settle for such a small percentage of nanopods when you can just watch ads?

Ads are immediate, but you get slightly more out of this long term.
If i have 1200 nanopods, i can put it in the CD and get 60-120 extra nanopods after the investment matures, and I would get even more if i leave it in there longer

Right now i have 160 nanos so if i put it in the CD, i would have up to 16 more nanos depending on the level. (Again, the percentages and mechanics can be changed. Im still not an economist)
You might think thats not worth the investment, but iv had rhese nanopods for a very long time and havent spent them. Putting them in the Credit Union would have given me more nanos which i could use to buy even better things later.

This system is primarily meant to reward patient (or infrequent) players who want to make a long term investment by taking on the arduous challenge of depleting their important currency now to get even more later.
This tension and opportunity cost makes the Tragan Credit Union a comepelling but meaningful choice.

Also, who doesnt want (basically) free gold and nanos?

The difficult part to me, which is why I didn't vote, yet downvote is how it's presented.

That's a lotta words and this is coming from someone who likes to write a lot. I think it's just not clear enough to accurately grapple an audience, but also you didn't really bump it. Since Discord displays the most recently commented post, it typically shoves them further up. Gets more eyes on it. A few of my posts were like this before they actually took off. Others, were instant successes. I noticed this one was posted, and kinda buried under the generic suggestion-slop.

To me personally I like the idea... But, it doesn't seem like Battle Nations. It seems more-so like Battle Nations stock, you know? I don't want to play stock market with the game (And I get it, it's put nanos / money in, get it out) but it seems like something that'd be too... Meta / game shifting on it's own. Why ever spend nanos, when over time you can get more for free? Right now, without ads, they are a limited resource. So there's no reason not to just put all your nanos in the stocks dude! Especailly when that now garuntees even if it takes it's time free indefinite nanos.

When it comes to gold, I actually have constant issues with gold but that's due to rising expansion costs + how expensive the trees are. The only time you don't truly have this issue is when you are on the grind, which most the community encourages anyways but personally I don't have all the time in the world for.

I suppose it's ironic for me to address a lot of words, then write my own but I think the clearer / easier solution is to make tax collection more meaningful. (I love the IRS) because right now Taxes serve no purpose. They give no money, and your shops put out far less than farming raptors / mammoths / boars ever would.

I think thats a fair assessment, and that is my biggest problem with it too.
The idea isnt to make it a get rich quick scheme, but to reward f2ps eho save their nanos, and players who buy higher nano amounts.
Its meant to save you from odd priced purchases like the m10 costing 55 nanos, or the supertank costing 70.

If you only have 100 nanos say, then getting two of those units becomes more of a possibility without spending additional money.
Its not a huge amount of nanos, but it does give you a boost over time.

My second concern is that it woukd reward whales too heavily.

Even if we dont go with the nanopod aspect, i think the gold aspect would be extremely helpful

Absolutely true, but unfortunately with Madrona's shift towards "Event based nanos" over resources to nanos, I don't see something like nanopods in a bank being added (even if it's a good idea!)

I did have a similar idea myself kind of with nanopods. The bosses, always take a week to spawn, if not slightly less. Why not just do the same thing with a boss that drops nanopods? Well, the difficult part would be every player would now go out of their way to kill this boss. This boss would now be the meta. It doesn't matter if F2P, or Whale, Free nanopods from a boss, is better than none. Especially depending on what is dropped. Now, we could arbitrarily change the bosses respawn timer, say. 2 or 3 weeks instead of 1. And it may be less egregious when ads for nanopods are introduced, but I feel regardless of the change, the boss would be meta to blow up just because nanopods are that valuable a currency.
-# The other issue was I couldn't create a boss concept around Nanopods because we have no idea what the hell they even are...

I think and I hate to say this if it sounds rude, but an over-time tax collection system, alongside changing the balance of taxes (as I described elsewhere), so taxes accumulate over time would be a more... Worthwhile solution. I can think of one game I don't want to name, where for progressing you get say... +100 resources a minute. But your storage can only hold so much before it reaches cap. When reaching cap, you get 25%-50% less every hour as it overflows. I think something like this would benefit the game immensely. Because, everyone hates clicking on taxes, and again they're useless in terms of rewards. This cap of automatic collection is mostly in reference to my first post: https://discord.com/channels/463817609130016788/1385353567833030676

But, such changes won't be any time soon, if at all.

I always liked the idea of automatic tax collection, really, and i think it could solve a lot of problems.
People like to say "but shelters would be OP" and i mean thats true but they would take up a lot of base space, and maybe it could be so that the taxes arent collected on camps/shelters?

But again, nanopod CDs aside, and maybe even gold interest aside, a bank building would be cool to have.
Not extremely useful, but a nice optional bonus for people like me who spend gold on stupid things and enjoy having too many buildings. It doesnt have to be both things, and it doesnt need to overwrite anything, and can hopefully inspire a better formula in the future

Well, the nerf to shelters would be making their over-time collection less potent than housing. As I said, housing taxes really need a rework badly. I think I detailed an idea in someone elses post but It's buried somewhere.

A bank is an interesting idea, but it suggests some form of... Well, more than one!, I am curious if such a building is possible. Maybe in the grander scheme of friends / assisting Recoil Ridge, Marin, etc? Like imagine if you could "shake hands" with another friends bank using your own. You invest money, but it has longer-than-normal times before returning with a big benefit. (Say "Short term investment" is 7 days, you put in 10k gold for example, and get 50k in returns after 7 days.) You could pair such ideas with longer times, and more gold on return.

Another idea could be "investments" you use the bank to invest in say... A hovel for example. Now, the clash here is you can already upgrade hovels or other housing so, how would an investment work? Well, maybe it could go beyond the max? Say 10 levels over. But it gets even more pricey with the bank building. In turn, rewards are greater. from the invested building Then maybe we could apply these investments to other shops / buildings.

Could also use it for a variety of jobs, debt collection could be to shake down a house / building and it gives a lot of rewards up front but is crippled in returns for a while while it recovers.

I had a similar idea which was actually the original intent for the credit union but didnt make sense for a credit union to do.

The idea is that you make a small gold investment into the bank, and the bank gives you a Demand Bond.

You can only have one bond at a time, and cant get rid of it until you fufill it.

The idea is that you choose a demand category and get a bond for it.
Satisfying the demand for that category gives you something special like Xp, resourceses, or a small job time reduction to current jobs. The quality of the rewards correlates to how in demand the chosen category is and how hard it is to satisfy

It kind of defeats the purpose of the demand system, since you dont really want to satisfy demand (its a punishment system)

I like your shaking hands thing though, that could be helpful without it being op

Well, investments would just be layered upgrades in my idea moreso. But I really like your demand bonus idea.

Imagine if, you could pick a shop, and artificially create demand for a specific item. Currently, Demand is really annoying. We have no control over it (this is ignoring the "oversatisfied!" mechanic) Imagine if we could go to a shop, and specifically create demand for one item. That way if you know you're going to be away you can create demand for a 24h job, or if you're going to have long gaps inbetween you can create it for 8 hour jobs. Right now with it being random, I get 24 hour jobs and it's sort of just been pass, every time. Unless the potential exceeds a standard 1h job.

Even cooler, we could use the bank to play dirty and in text essentially sabotage our own demand, artificially creating it. A loreful explanation as of why the people at your outpost would suddenly crave gas masks and big swig sodas. After all, all you need to do to create demand is just short what is required. Since it's not like we necessarily can link all these together, it could be done in groups. So the Bank would pull some strings and short 1-4 hour jobs, creating demand in those catagories, or 24h jobs, doing the same. This would give more pull and swing over annoying random mechanics.

Shaking hands would be neat, and I think it's fair to give heaps of gold over how long it'd take, but then my issue would be too much, I especially see that here. Some people have more gold than they know what to do with.

Yes, exactly. The reason why i suggested being able to upgrade the building in the initial post is because it allows you to get more money but not tremendous amounts.
The initial gold interest idea is to help players who seriously struggle with gold. It wouldnt do much for players who have too much, other than give them somewhere to put it in and forget.

The idea of being able to manipulate the market like that is cool. I find myself passing on 24hr jobs too unless i know its going to be a busy day.

I know demand is meant so you cant spam shops and profit all day, but its deceptively unfun to fufill demand.
At first i thought i twas a good thing because it says "great!" But its just not great at all.
Some type of reward, even if its small, would be cool and give incentive to fill demand and say "great!"
