So sorry for that, the blocking feature is still being worked on as it is not fully functioning currently.
It might take some time before actions are taken against colluding players. Thank you for your patience.
What is the normal action taken against players found to have colluded?
(I am trying to decide if if is even worth pursuing action. I have reported dozens of players over the years and my feeling is nothing happens.)
If it is evident that players keep getting in the same games, helping each other out, and doing unfair trades, they will be banned. It is definitely worth reporting them in-game. The more games we have of them being reported together, the better.
You say it is worth reporting in-game, yet I know firsthand the same players keep showing up that have colluded or cheated ion some way. So this sounds like political doublespeak.
Above I shared a screen capture of someone doing an unfair trade, coupled with an admission in chat that "cheating is fun." Since it happened, I have played at least one game with one of these cheaters.
So I am asking: is what I shared here, evinced in the screen cap, not alone grounds for banning? If it is not, how many times are you allowed to openly collude and admit you are doing so in chat?
Even a player "admitting" that they are cheating is not necessarily enough, since they might not understand it correctly or are not telling the truth (even though that is not the best idea...). Two players seemingly working together do not always mean collusion.
Of course, the team will look into the reports (in-game reports for managing reasons), but if two players are, for example, only reported once together, then there is little suspicion that they were actually colluding.
So if you're still facing them, either the team has not come around yet to look into these players, and we apologise for the time it may take. Or they aren't trying to get into games together.
This is confusing and disheartening.
If a pair has colluded EVEN A SINGLE TIME, that is cheating, and should have serious consequences for both. Say a warning at a minimum.
If either of those two people cheats again, EVEN IF WITH SOMEONE ELSE, that should be a ban.
Talking here with you is very confusing and sounds like talking to a politician.
Often in elite Catan play, players work together to slow down the leader - make lopsided trades, so someone can take road or army away froma player who is close to winning.
I have had players tell me this is cheating, in more than one game.
It isn't.
If you see the same players in game after game, playing together and helping each other win - those are definitely cheaters.
Whether something is cheating or not depends on how the rules are defined. And that is 100% not clear with this version of the game.
That aside, @lilac wren, are you saying that you can trade 10 cards for 1 and that is fine? Tell me your card limit, if there is one?
And is this limit for all situations? What is the recipient of 10 cards IS the leader already? WHat is everyone is at 3 points in a 3-person game, but the other 2 feel the 3rd person has best position?
I get your point, but I don't make the rules.
My advice would be: go to Catan.com and see if you can more clearly define exactly what the rules are when it comes to this situation. I know that in tournament play, there is a rule that you can't trade cards and get none in return. I'm not sure how cheating is defined on this app.
Congrats!
Revenge in Catan is sweet.
Why is the screenshot only one placement?
Hey @exotic wyvern, I had an interesting game tonight that brings up the issue of what is cheating and what is not.
I would sincerely like your opinion:
One player had 9 points and 2 dev cards, with 6 resources in hand. The other player and I both had 6 points. Due to a couple lucky rolls I had 4 wood and 4 brick in hand - not enough for me to take road from the player with 9 points, but enough that the other player could join their roads together and take longest road. I traded them 3 wood and 3 brick for a wheat and sheep. They took longest road - the game went on for a while and eventually I won.
In your opinion, is this cheating? The player who was on the verge of winning before I made the trade thought it was. I thought it was just a very smart play.
@golden hull Why are you letting these accusations float around unaddressed? You used to delete all posts with names dropped of potential cheaters. You can't let random users on your Discord become judge, jury and executioner. I don't know if these particular players are actually cheating, but you probably haven't even looked into the reports yet
