Second, the friendly robber unspoken rule has destroyed the game. Basically you can't rob anyone unless you want to get ganged up on. This leads to a massive advantage for those who get development cards because they will steam roll everyone.
What kind of stupid game is this. Can't believe I spent so much money on it!

You have expressed my feelings exactly: super toxic players in chat and some bizarre version of Friendly Robber which gives the early leader a huge advantage, usually until it's too late to stop them. The real Friendly Robber rule- no robbing or blocking a player with 2 - isn't so bad (though it's recommended for games with children) but waiting until all have 3 (I have played recent games where players get mad if you rob before 5 or 6!! ) completely changes the game. The robber is an elemental part of the game!
