It failed to capture. Can be because of AVS or many other reasons. It's an automatic refund, however you can open a ticket and be sure that the process is underway.
Same thing happened to me Sunday. They deleted my post about it and have not gotten back to me at all. I created a ticket for both claims, still nothing.
The refund isn’t automatic because I still have not received the $39.98 that was taken from me, without receiving my subscription.
It's automatic. But like I said in your post, it moves at the speed of finance. 3-5 days is standard in the financial world.

After waiting days for them to respond, this is the response. I have to laugh to keep myself from crashing out
Its possible that your bank is holding the money back as a safety thing after failed payment and u get refunded few work days later, you should contact your bank, what can they see from their end
last i heard their usual response time is around 3 work days
They responded today and issued my refund

I’ve spoke with them. They said on their end the transaction shows as pending. Once it’s posted, then I should call back regarding a refund.
You could send this info this to the Shadow support, maybe they can speed up the process
