#Struggling with minor print quality issues

I’ve been rebuilding/tuning a 300mm Voron2.4r2 I purchased from Craigslist that needed moderate work, basic specs more or less, stealth burner with dragon hot end, cw2 extrusion, can bus tool head, octopus v1.1 board, tmc2209 drivers, really nothing too far from vanilla.

I keep seeing this very slight banding around the hull of my test bench using pla basic from bambu (rh about 15%, not old filament).

Things I’ve tried, pid calibration of hot end, heater bed, extruder calibration, input shaper, pressure advance, following Ellis’ tuning guide. Am I missing something obvious?

A/B + z belts are all adjusted using the tensioning tool that is highly recommended (made short work of that!)

Chamber doors are open, yes, as are the sides and top currently.

Sent another with the print orientation with the bow facing the front of the plate directly to see if the part cooling in terms of directionality might help - also outside/inside for outer layer instead of inside/outside, and went with the 0.15mm optimized default orca profile, trying to rule out slicer settings. Improved significant but still not quite there yet. I changed a lot at once deliberately, so not much scientific method here to rule any one thing out, but no other printer config setting changes, only slicer.

And another, back to 0.2mm layer height, outer/inner and orientation facing front. Orientation may be the biggest piece at play re: cooling

Looks like cooling to me if you are using a stealthburner it’s just not the best for cooling. Just be happy that it cools better than mine😂

Update, discovered I didn’t put the silicone sock on the hot end…. You gotta be kidding me.

Ran out of filament, decided to run another extruder pid calibration with the sock on, might also be worth adjusting PA as well just in case but I don’t expect much.

Running a full polymaker HT-PLA-GF test now. Results momentarily.

The glass filled pla always has that rough texture but I think this looks pretty good compared to where I stared.

Not my finest moment.
