Official build log for my 2.4 350^3 as suggested. Back in 2022 I bought a formbot3d kit unaware that I also needed printed parts to assemble the printer, maybe just under a year later I picked up a full printed parts kit that contained both stuff for afterburner and stealth burner which led me to some confusion resulting in purchases of aftermarket parts. I have been through proper channels talked with lots of people but I’m no longer sure how close to my original parts kit I should stay. I was informed that some of my original stuff is hazardous (switch+power inlet and wiring harnesses) and went about correcting most of it the best I could so far. I am not sure how far away from the manual is acceptable. I have some goals for the printer but if they’re too far from the manual I can abandon them on the initial build: sensorless homing, umbilical instead of chains and preferably stealthburner or a4t over afterburner. I would like to use monolith panels and a printed top hat so I don’t lose on z height with umbilical but If any of these things prove to be too much of a change they can be abandoned. I should also note that everything is assembled/installed except for the following: toolhead, electrical work, software/firmware, cable chains, rest of the bed skirt and the panels

I’ll post a parts list in a bit
Also I’m in the U.S. so standard outlets here put out ~120v at 60Hz
Parts:
Og-
• Formbot 3d 2.4 kit for afterburner
• Matterhackers 3d printed parts kit with both afterburner and stealthburner parts
• Octopus controller board
• Raspberry pi3
• Afterburner toolhead
• Redone wiring harnesses with wagos because the original used spade mounts and linked a bunch of wires together weird
• 1 piece plug and switch combo
• 3 hole mount cable chains
• Hall effect endstops
• Some sort of toolhead probe (I was told it’s an older choice)
• Phateus dragon hf hotend
Aftermarket additions:
• Stealthburner full kit from fystec
• 1x 2510 delta fan
• Lgx lite pro extruder
• Dragon mze extender
• BTT sb2209 usb
• Crossbow cutter
I’ll be updating this list as needed
I was planning on picking up xol carriage pins and a beacon probe to complete the needed parts for a4t but I have been redirected to stealthburner instead
Current steps I have in mind are:
- Assemble a toolhead
- Finish wiring
3.software setup - Panels
- Tuning
I am taking a break before hopping into the first step to learn some leather working however
Thank you thank you 🙏
The best printer builds are like fine wine. They are best after sitting in a cellar for a few years and revisited from a different perspective. Gl with the build!
Thanks, I hope that’s true lmao
Currently committing a sin and assembling a4t first, I’ve learned that regardless of which toolhead I choose I need to learn entirely what they’re doing in order to properly install and utilize them so why not just learn the one I intend to install later anyways
If I can’t get it figured out I’ll simply buy one more 4010 fan for stealthburner and use that
List of changes from my stock kit so far:
•redone wiring harnesses for primary wires
• swap to a4t with lgx lite pro, beacon probe, phateus dragon bf with mze, and sb2209 toolhead board (ik it’s cursed)
• umbilical
• top hat
•monolith panels
• xol carriage
All should be pretty basic swaps with no fundamental changes besides the toolhead
@wispy trench
Word
Mono carriage?
Get the vitalii cnc sb/xol one
for voron belt path anyway
for a4t
But i'll do a nice umbilical
Printed xol is ok to start with
Absolutely
Dwtas the a4t/xol guy is brilliant
I’ll just wait to mount until I get the cnc one
Cos i can use mine to make a perfect size
🎉
Where you wanna mount the cord?
On the gantry or exhaust
I honestly don’t know
Either is fine
What do you prefer?
Then exhaust for sure
Makes the Z umbilical a bitch
Exhaust is easy, clean
And i can give you pg7 mounts for it
I’ll mostly be printing abs/asa so I doubt I’ll ever use the exhaust anyways
Ill mount pg7s at the perfect intervals
And ill crimp your cord, but not socket the microfit
So you can lock pg7 into the exhaust and make a literal perfection cord
These clamp between printed parts
And only allow the cord to exist in X amount in the chamber
And theyll last forever
Ahhh
So itll be a perfectly rigid, perfect length cord
Do you have the same setup on yours?
I do, but sorta diff rn
I use a clear panel with a hole
But strain relief on the hole yeah
I drilled into it
Aight if you get the chance could you take a pic so I have a reference point? I’m sure I could prob search stuff up for it too
Ive tested this coating, it doesnt kill boards etc in chamber
I haven’t ordered pg7 before
So dont judge printed parts
Umbilical goes up-> out sith a printed pg7 spring pk top
Two printed pug springs on Z
Im also doing hartk Z lol
This is why i got 4-6x umbilical supplies, sell a few for fun
I finally understand the wires holding your umbilical
Those are for extra rigid
Its not ideal, and i dont need em, but i move fast as heck
Its smart to me
And it keeps the whole thing from developing a weird counter sway
Makes sense
But my cord before when i did 2wd was perfect
Lemmie find it, i had literally perfect graphs
My simplest, best performing is graph config yet
But urgh split Z umbilical pain
Just drilled a hole next to the ptfe lmao
Less headache
That was the umbilical setup I was gonna try to replicate
Wait if I do the exhaust version do I still lose z height?
Very nice guess I don’t even have to do top hat anymore then
I was gonna
Oh no
i got you
let me do your toolhead umbilical fully
black on black
buy red zip ties for accent 😉
Top hat doesn’t seem all that bad idk why people avoid it so heavily
heat
Ahhhh
tall=more soak by a lottttt
I wondered if that was an issue
every 100m is tons of heat
Makes total sense now
What bed heater do you use? I’ve heard different talk about different ones
I love doing specifically umbilicals
the stock ldo
it works ok
I think mine is like a 115c cap
Wait I might have it wrong hold up
110v 650w
I wanna buy a 10mm alu 1000w 150c fused bed myself soon
mines 750
im going up to a new SSR/1000w
That may be something I chase in the future
So long as I can print abs I should be good for now
yeah
Im only doing so for my "final touches"
this v2 is close, so im doing pc panels, big bed that can run theae 5015 bed fans
pump le chamber up
i have a toolhead that can nyoom/motion
so just doing the bed and a new v2 soon
I love my p1s because it just works but I think my goal is to sell/give it to my dad and grab a monolith printer a while after it drops so I’ll have the Voron and the monolith
Yeah I’ll be excited once mine works
Good wiring in the chamber is half the battle
It upsets me alot because I’ve spent soo much time and cash and it’s still not working but I refuse to give up on it
so knowing your toolhead wire works will be ez
I'll personally test on my EBB with my board 🙂
I get close to selling it sometimes but I don’t think I’ll truly get to that point
I plan to try my best
So far I’ve really enjoyed routing wires for some reason
🤔
Oh beacon
Oh word
Idk which one or what they do differently
Do you, want a cable for it to the ebb36?
Yes please?
The part I’m most scared of right now tbh is re crimping all my wires
I have the tools and connectors I just don’t want to mess anything up
Same I’ve just never done this style so I’m building it up too much in my head
I have your a4t pics saved lmao
its not hard, theres zip tie spots
They are my example pics
I bought one for them let me find it
once you set the "crimp" into the slide and squeeze
it's basically like gripping wires w/ pliers
you'll quickly get the hang of it, i promise
the hardest part is identifying guage, and knowing what crimp "size" to do on a tool
worst case: strip and redo
Perfect
Once you do 2-3 it'll be easy
It's once of those things where it's like...eeee cut my wires
but, twist the wires before they go into the crimps lightly: prevents fraying on entry

rock it
crimping is the most intimidating, easiest thing ever
I re did my mains harness
Nice
No tests yet with a plug lol
How do you want the ebb32: USB?
I did try my multi meter though
I assume?
Yuh
if so you're in luck
I heard it reduces the amount of wires a lot
And I think beacon only uses usb?
fin lazies btt ios
I can either make you a passthrough USB cord, or incoude it into the harness
you can do both
one is easy, one is easy too
What’s the pass through mean
it's a small cord i'd make to the beacon from the toolhead board
and then no beacon USB cord
I have the crimps here for it
Hmm
its what ive always done
Otherwise the beacon usb just goes in the umbilical right?
That’s enough for me lmao I’ll do that then
no big deal
and its a USB slot
but this stays a small cord on the toolhead
Its just a jst to molex shelock 4 pin
Probably gonna use thinner wires so its nice and compact
And ill maybe braid it
I like doing carto/beacon wires
If you waited i have igus chainflex coming for folks who absolutely want beacon usb, to make my own usb cords

So i can make non lumpy umbilical with good wires
West3d is sold out of the 6mm carriages too 😭
And usb beacon hehe
Check his website directly
But i prefer pass through
Its easy, the wire stays confined to the zip ties on a4t
I’ll try pass through
Heres the breakout board
I coated it for fun but im not using mine
Im using carto v4 and CAN
🤷♂️
I have a harness made for power for you already
What does a breakout board do? I understand can and usb now and the toolhead board but idk why the separate board exists
Btt ships the bare wires lol
It allows you to plug and play this
No can config
Quick, easy
Ah nice
And like i said, ill so your psu wire crimps
So you can plug it directly into your screw terminals etc
It feeds on 24v
Thanks a lot dude this actually helps a ton
Btt includes this lol
The toolhead has been the single biggest stopping point for me so far and the boards more specifically
BTT gave me the parts but knowing what to do with them is a whole different story lmao
I feel like I’m starting to finally understand this portion of the build, I’m excited to get it done and get back to the wiring underneath
Labeling is nice
bit nicer than BTTs, screw terminal crimps for PSU and breakout ferrules
it'll fit perfectly on the breakout/psu
About to get my last led part printed so I can continue assembling the a4t
This is how itll come, and itll go usb included->pi
And harness to toolhead-> this board
Ill even pack them together in modules so its easy
I have a wealth of LDO cords that are the exact pins we need, and are better for umbilical too 🙂
btts is ok, but LDOS is a stiffer insulation and nicer
and i can de-pin the LDO w/o cutting it 😛
The board in the pics is the breakout one right
And it mounts underneath the printer in the electronics bay?
This all I need?
ebb36 v2 repo
100
that's perfect for a4t
you'll get 7mm spacers iirc
which are what i use
this is a breakout wire, not one i made
but i'll make a FEP coated braided wire
If I order beacon I’ll have this total:
Lgx lite pro
2x 4010 fans
1x 2510 fan
A4t printed parts
Neopixel led
Phateus dragon hf
Mze
The usb setup you’re putting together
Umbilical you’re putting together
Beacon probe
i ordered 1000 on ali
oh ok lol
I always toss a few in with printed parts i do lol
for new kit folks changing so they dont butcher SB harnesses
You said 5v hef and 24v part fans btw?
I'll set your jumpers for you
not that you cant change them
but just so you dont have to
Is this the fan voltage
yes
😄 im just stoked i get to use my "automotive grade electrical looming tape"
105c, gets sticker in a chamber over time vs less
aka it wont unroll
it'll be an under a cover component you wont see/feel
What i do, Is form a TI clip, tape it into the tape itself, melt it in, and wrap that clip around with tape
and then the TI i wrap in a spiral around your cord
then i fold it at the place for a pg7
tape it again
spiral the entire cord in high temp tape
24v dc fystec 4010
24v dc sunon 4010
5v dc delta 2510
and wrap that in PET sleeve
then i shrink wrap it all
put your PG7s on the cord, wrap it lightly in a box to prevent the spring from being damaged inside
and it'll be crimped, ready to go on arrival
just have the printed "pg7" screw in exhaust
and if you want, a pg7 skirt inlet in the back
You lost me but from the details in your description I can’t imagine anything but quality work
Oh nice
and it'll be hidden and pretty in a snakeskin PET style sleeve
my favorite
I even ditched my experimental woven heat shrink
it was okay
im back to using heat shrink heat shrink
It's fun to do cords, and length is EZ i have a 350
so your toolhead length to back panel....is mine
so the wire length will be easy to determine lol
this tape ig insulates the wires thermally
I'm so stoked to try it
@wispy trench is there supposed to be a small gap between the fan and cowl?
I dont believe so
Once I positioned the fan properly it slotted in nicely but Idk if it’s supposed to go in further and I’ve just got a wire stopping it
🥲
I’m gonna try on my empty cowl
Ok no gap on my empty cowl when I press it in so I gotta fix my LED wires
@wispy trench I will pay you to print a a4t cowl and install the LEDs in it if that’s something you’re willing to do
Got any natural abs?
i have this, yes
Could I get it in that please
Yes please
I have a dragon hf with mze
This is one logo LED in the same ABS lol
same ABS as the cowl lol
so its a bright color for a cowl
It looks like it’s charging a plasma blast lmao
Yeah I like that funny enough
It's cool actually.
I liked it when i ran out of black
I have an idea that's fun
what if i do the logo in shiny shiny black, non matte
so only behind it glows
All I’ve got is black abs atm I gotta order in some natural, what brand do you have
sunlu
I’m down to try that
True lmao
I gotta order some sunlu natural 😛
youre doing black and red?
I have...red sunlu lokl
Red LGX spacer?
and toolhead board mount?
I have black and red but I want to start doing natural for monolith panels and the toolhead
Ahh fair
I’m buying the vitalli one
Ahhh
I kinda wanna give it a bone look with the red muscle/flesh
I can do any color pof a4t combo
and mmu faces
lol
a5t mmu face
thats easy stuff
a4t i can do red hexs on natural abs
up to you
I kinda like the solid a4t looks
fair enough
One of my favorites was this like military tan a4t
I'll include a nice red lgx spacer for you
But I’m not doing a brown build lol
you can reprint anything nicely later
if you like/see a better version yknow
nbd
I have capricorn tubing for the hotend ill include a slice of
I think anything you print off will be better than mine lol
I was thinking about buying some when you were asking about it
lol
I'm thinking of just doing this as a hobby on etsy
"pre toughened ebb36 and full a4t"
fans, everything ready for carriage and go
Past me would’ve made love to you
I realized I missed a fully assembled a4t a while ago
Is sparkly abs any harder to print from?
And a fan guard for a5t
Not fusion so far
Also I heard it’s more abrasive
Problem solved
I should probably get a tungsten nozzle at some point
What do you typically use carbon fiber for?
I saw a grey one that looked pretty nice
I think someone made a workout tool out of some as a prototype and left it at my climbing gym
How many printers do you have?
Nice
I have a dead qidi i tossed a bit ago
Gonna have a farm
fun farm 🙂
toys for kiddo, for me
parts for friends, etc
I like iamus, i printed his switchwire parts
I think giving your kids access is awesome
Especially if they can learn cad
I would’ve killed for that kind of freedom when I was younger
Like freedom of creativity
I always wanted to make all sorts of stuff but just didn’t have the tools
He slices on this, made this stand
Hes a smart kid and has my whole heart
I monitor his slicing obv because he cant fully read at 4
Goldfish tray is essential
100%
Hes a good egg
Im a lawyer so im gabby, i narrated my v2 and omg hes smart
“Daddy thats the z belt and axis”

He wants to do a v0 and 2 lane bt kit at 5-6
Aka i do he uses and enjoys
i said hell yeah
Blame ldo
Building a Voron at 6 is insane
Cute stickers
🤷♂️ its just us two
I share in his hobbies and he likes to share mine
we do lottttta toys
It’s gonna sound corny but I’m glad there’s parents like you showing and supporting their kids creativity and teaching them skills in a fun way
My dad always helped me build things and stuff and it’s become a core part of me
so even my hobbies are making fun toys for him
My family isnt close
so it's me and my guy, im divorced
we do a ton together
I’m glad you’ve got him then
I dont want to have nobody, so I make sure he's a central part of my life
and it works out great
me too
Totally understandable and really a good thing for him too
Absolutely
I talk to him like an adult
i cant do baby talk, never have been able to
so from day one it was "hey man, why are you upset"
lets figure it out then
I respect that
kids seem to like being treated as an equal in that ig
like, the rules are so we all are safe and stuff lol
they apply to me too, i too cant run with a knife
because it's stupid lol

Are we gonna get smited for conversing in the wrong channel
and we're having a rule following wholesome convo tbh
but yeah, idk. my house is weirds
my 4yo puts me in timeout when im upset
and i do it
🤷♂️
Not really, it makes sense, stays fun and is functional
if it goes one way
idk why not

Upper middle class america is not a stressful place
money makes you laid back
in my early 20s i was a cop and not cool
Hmm, is there anything I can do to help support a possible v0 father son build?
keep on keeping on
idk
PIF
youll know when
"my only cowl broke oh no"
youll see someone who needs it
True true
I do ok now
2 years ago, i was...not ok
I work as a lawyer in prison
so rough gig
I honestly don’t mind shipping out extra parts of mine to people in need
Oh yikes
Miserable combo
i had a vendor reach out a send me a free tc nozzle
still use it
i quietly paid him back when i got back, got my settement and was working
3dp during my recovery allowed me to still play toys with my then 3yo without buying them cos broke
and that nozzle meant a lot to me.
it was literally "my ability to make my 3yo smile"
so i do what i can to help now
That makes sense why you spend so much time working on them
anyone, regardless of situation
I feel like that’s the way to go tbh
3dp can be transformative in the right situation
So i like to do what little i can for friends etc
Like no matter what position you’re in you can still be in a moment of need
i got suzuki a v0 lol
you will be
Life is cyclical
you always go back down/have to ask for help
thats why you gotta do good when you're up
I was happy to send my g2e Suzukis way just because I had hope that he’d get use out of it tbh
Tip your bartender while the house is down
Ohhh you did that
see, its cyclical
you helped, youre getting help
life is that way
Yuh yuh he just payed shipping
Got essentially 2 g2es
If you tell yourself "ill have X"
It was cool seeing the build
you might find, you do eventually
Like, in the freakiest way
Did you hear about sigmund frued?
he read about that, and literally had a textbook example happen
early in his career he had a patient talk about some bird in their dream
Man I’m excited to get the beast running
and he walked to the window, and it landed right there
so
i mean, coincidence? maybe
but
spread what you want out there
I love getting a 3dp running
Happy new year
happy new year
but yeah, im heading to bed 😛
ill post the EBB when it comes
should be fun, mines getting installed soon
Take your time, thanks again and no rush. Have a good night 🌙
Vitalli mounts ordered, 6mm xol carriage in silver and lgx lite pro ebb 36 mount also in silver
sick, ebb32 coming 🙂
What’s the difference between 32 and 36?
And they mount the same right?
Ok I’m even more confused lmao I see 36 and 42
I know you’re getting me the part I need regardless so I’m not worried just curious
You’re moving fast
Going with cart4 as of now
Mze has arrived
Let me know how it works, i do have, thinking about schould i prind the uhf cowl or the hf one
Heard deferent things about it
For a4t as I’m aware only the uhf length works which is why the hf gets the extender
Vitalli parts in, cartographer 4 ordered
Parts should arrive tomorrow to finish your cord big fella 😉
Been waiting on my ti wire
Im super hyped
Cart4 has arrived
Projects been on hold but I’m thinking it’s about time to start rolling on things again, 1 spool of asa on the way
Should be able to start back up again on Friday when the spool in the color I wanted for the cowl comes in
Hoping I don’t have any weird issues swapping from abs to Asa or creality to sunlu
Asa arrived along with a fresh led, should have the cowl done in a couple hours
Broke the led resistors gotta learn micro soldering now
Led plates ordered along with some pg7 mounts and nh36 with umbilical cord
Parts are in, gotta work on soldering LEDs next
I’m ditching the LEDs
Learned I had axial 4010s not blowers so I’m waiting on those to ship in now
But, I also have a new on off switch and power input port with fuses coming in as I was made aware my original one is potentially dangerous
Parts have arrived
@quiet flower oh great creator bestow upon me your wisdom as I am but a needy soul, what does this metal part do and is it supposed to be loose? I can’t find anything indicating what it is or what it does
I mean, a simple hello would do 🙂
that part should be friction fit. In place so it doesn't slide forwards when printing. If it's a bit loose you could print the part with either a bit less shrinkage compensation, or a bit over extruded to tighten it up
I think some people have put a bit of glue on it instead of reprinting. I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not
I’ll try the glue method as Im not exactly sure how to do the other stuff atm
Thank you very much 🙏
And before I forget, it's so that there's metal on either side of the blade where the cutting action pushes the filament sideways. The idea is to prevent wear
Thank you 🙏 that helps me to understand how to interact with things a lot. I kinda figured that was the purpose but couldn’t find anything to confirm
Two part epoxy time 😁
Gotta love the mess before the result
I’ve learned I printed the wrong cowl for my setup, technically it could still work if I mount the cowl and then attach the extruder with the crossbow adapter plate after but I think I’m just going to reprint and replicate an existing setup (whiskers a4t)
Both of us are using the vitalli3d slw carriage and in his setup he’s using a xol cowl and mounting the top bolts from the back into the square nuts in the cowl
One problem after another but alas the project is called persistence for a reason
Some progress, I never knew how crazy finicky and delicate building a printer would be
Have to wait on some more 4010s to ship due to the wire on that one breaking at the base. Then I gotta figure out how the cartographer v4 mounts and figure out all the connectors and plug everything in
Everyone please pray for me that I don’t break something in the process
Working on cleaning up the work space and getting the tools and parts reorganized, fans come in on the 16th and I’ll have some small gauge wire strippers coming in before then so I should be fully prepped for when the fans arrive to cut down the wires and add connectors to wrap up this toolhead that continues to spite me
In other words I’m excited but I’ll be treating the toolhead like a glass balloon
To all of you who are thinking of building a Voron that haven’t before, you will be buying a set of tools unless either you or someone you know is a electrician
Today was spent learning how to do jst xh crimps, I now have to wait until tomorrow to get the rest of the bits I ordered in order to actually make any progress
Furthermore a ferrule crimping tool is on the way
I should have everything I need (for now) by Monday to complete the toolhead
Tuesday now with shipping delays
Tools have arrived, just waiting on the fan
Learned how to properly crimp ferrules thanks to @rotund steeple so shoutout to him
Now it’s time to move onto the jst xh and ph pieces which I think I just dialed the tightness in for
Ugly but it works and helped me learn
Motor and heater complete now I just gotta do the fans, thermistor and probe
Couple more
Jumpers set besides the probe
Delta 2510 hef set to 5v
4010 PCfs set to 24v
All I can do for tonight, next steps are to install the last 4010 fan and probe, set up the connectors for those and set the jumper for the probe
Then I gotta print and attach the strain relief mount and attach the umbilical
Been a long battle but the toolhead is finally in the home stretch
Fan has arrived 🤩
Very glad I bought two in with one as an extra
Last fan installed
Gonna probably be a little bit before I can push things further, waiting to see if I’m gonna upgrade my gantry
@quiet flower CREATOR, I SELFISHLY STAND BEFORE YOU CRAVING YOUR KNOWLEDGE ONCE MORE, have you had any issues reported with the vitalli front idlers? I don’t want to lose any build space and was wondering if I could buy those instead of printing the BFI ones but I’m not 100% sure about collision
Whiskers said they’re fine but I’d like confirmation from one of the makers if possible, this is for a4t btw
No one has complained. But I don’t know what they even look like. If they’re narrow like BFI they will be fine
These are from his website
Oh man the bfi’s are really skinny
Hmm these ones seem to be almost the same actually
Looks like they will be fine
Sweet thanks 🙏
Excited to get this thing running
Front idlers purchased
Going to get back onto building this thing soon
Idlers are in 🤤
Sticking with red/black color scheme?
Already looking nicer
Off the top, I believe those would be for the printable accent/aesthetic panel pieces.
🤪
Ahhh that makes sense
Yup saw those but that explains the hole thanks 🙏
Phone camera doesn’t do it justice but it’s a lot prettier now
@jade urchin consider this before you get too deep in:
Sorry, might have to backtrack a bit for easiest scenario, should have mentioned it sooner.
I saw that, not a fan of the amount of work that goes into it, maybe down the line
Belts are tensioned and gantry seems fine (deracked it in the past and nothing seems to have changed so I’ll get to the calibration print to see if I need to derack again)
Today’s goal is to get the toolhead hung
“Today’s goal” was not achieved, brain was not working well but soon hopefully
Toolhead mounted now I gotta install the probe and umbilical
I printed the umbilical exhaust mount and a pug
I learned my panels are too thin to use monolith panels which was my intent so now I may just make my own or go with the stock mounts
Now waiting on a cord to come in to plug my cart4 into my toolhead board
I think today’s goal is going to be the umbilical
Losing build space with this one but we’re keeping it for now 😔
Panels today hopefully
This gotta be the longest running mostly stock Voron build
Thing has not ran once yet 💀
@wispy trench @wispy trench
🧐
Watchu mean
How's it still not working 🤦
Ah just set back after setback

If I knew I had a full afterburner kit and stuck with that AND had all the parts and tools it would’ve gotten built a lot faster
But instead now I have a lgx lite pro a4t with umbilical and some redone wiring harnesses and a toolhead board 😭
And new idlers
Compounding effect
Just stop scope creeping
That’s the hope
I actually kinda scare myself with it because I sometimes start thinking about new frames or sidepack or different panels or other stuff 🥲
Next development: "ordered cnc gantry"
But I think I’m happy with my current build for the goal of the printer I think anything more wouldn’t give me much bang for my buck towards my goal
I waited months on whiskers for the gantry lol

Gave up because it’s not needed I just wanted the idlers mostly
And honestly I think it’d be better if it went to someone else
Whiskers do be like that
Its all good lol
I have a solution in mind for that, hopefully I get it designed and built before you need ALL your Z space.
Yeah I’ll be fine for a while, I should still have all my x/y space
What do you want
Is this guy dumb?
Why is he tagging me
🤔 ok
Zero clue
Ok tomorrow instead, I’m tired
Back panel is on, I’ve learned that I gotta do that then umbilical mount then finish electronics and skirts and then go back and put the rest of the panels on
Lost the exhaust mount so now I’m printing a new one
Hopefully it turns out ok with no supports and orcas auto orientation 💀
Did not, will be reprinting today
Progress
I think that’s everything structurally that I had to do except for routing wires, Bowden tube, skirts and panels
Next step I think will be turning the printer over and continuing on the electronics
Gotta swap my on off switch+power input and then I think I’m gonna do one step at a time continuity checks to make sure my mains wiring is all set
After I gotta do everything else electronics wise which is scary for a first timer like me but I’m happy to know for the most part that I don’t need to make much more changes if any to the actual assembly
Just speedrun and hope for the best
Now to start on wiring again 🥲
Might have to call in some backup for this portion
I stupid 😄
@rotund steeple was I supposed to do my controller board before the primary wires
It comes first in the manual
This actually hurts my head to look at
I don't think the order of operations matters too much, everything has to get plumbed in eventually. It might help you get better acquainted with the pinout and form a wiring plan by writing out a cheat sheet index, "this port goes to Z1, this port to the A motor, etc". Is there something specific youre getting snagged on?
that one is way too confusing, just use the btt one in their repo
I’m gonna try with Suzukis suggestion tomorrow and we shall see
If I just follow these steps exactly should I be good? I know I’ll have to go back and figure out how the toolhead integrates since it’s different from normal with my toolhead board and a4t
I’m assuming the fans for #4 are for all the non toolhead fans?
If you have a toolhead board, yes
Gonna have my coworker help me through the electrical and software portion and explain things as we go
I could just follow the manual and wing it but I wanna know I’m doing things right
And I also don’t want to go into a massive deep dive of learning everything electrical yet
it's not that deep, you'll be excited when it clicks. Figure out how to map out one connection/device on the board and in the config, all you're doing is wiring the right pins together, then telling the software in config "hey, such and such device is connected to you, its wired to pin X.X, here are the paramaters that go with it". Once you understand what you're doing, it's largely rinse and repeat.
I’m just scared of shorting something or starting a fire
Or my toolhead crashing violently into something 😶🌫️
Then don't do the mains/throw the switch til we look stuff over, you're not going to hurt anything plumbing some stuff in.
I can do that
the first step's always the tough one, building the new neuronal bridges in the ol wet computer takes effort.
Yeah every time I figure out a step it’s like ok I could run through this quick next time
It’s honestly a lot of the lack of understanding that gets me
Any nefarious plans this weekend?
I’ve been working on other stuff 😔
