Hi All,
I have had my V2.4 for years. I have never had any problems with it until now.
I decided to upgrade it to use Tap (Chaoticlab). Which meant that I upgraded my X-Axis rail to the MGN12.
At the same I was getting the belt rubbing issue so upgraded the XY idlers so the tension was applied inline with the belts.
Ever since this upgrade, I cannot seem to get my cylinders round.

I have attached some photos of the problem. I have completely run out of ideas and am pulling my hair out :).

Setup:
Voron 2.4 Formbot Kit (originally)
Size: 300mm
Exturder: StealthBurner with CWM2
Probe: Tap
Board: Octopus
Motors: Moons
Belts: Gates
Drivers: TMC2209
Klipper: 0.13.0-181
Slicer: Orca
Acceleration: 4000m/s max while printing, 7000 for travel.

Things I have checked:

  • Racking, I have de-racked so many times.
  • Squared Gantry, measured as in picture. I also measured the distance between the Y-Axis frame, at the back and front, same measurement.
  • Print Settings, no-effect. PA and IS both off and on, all configurations. Same issue.
  • Belt Tension, I have cut to same length, tensioned both belts one turn at a time. The issue does seem to get better with tighter belts but even at super tight belts it still happens.
  • Pulleys, grub screws tight, and were assembled with blue loctite.
  • Bed is level
  • Speed of print, fast slow same issue.

I have been thinking this is a mechanical issue, however for the life of me I can't isolate the issue down to any specific thing.

Any help would be absolutely appreciated. I think I am losing my mind.

I forgot to mention that there are 2 bugles on the side of the cylinder that are exactly at 45 degrees that are in every print and run the whole way up. As highlighted in the image with the blue arrows.

If you print just a flat disk or a square, do those come out round and, well, square? Any X/Y racking / out-of-square issues would be easier to spot there, eliminating some other possible causes.

It looks like there are some other issues going on, the bottom of the "cup" looks rather underextruded and there seems to be a gap between the inner/outer wall of the cylinder (at least between about 4 and 10 o-clock, which seems to be the part furthest away from the Z seam). Could it be that the thing is not entirely held together and warping?

You mentioned that it's exactly 45deg, but the two points are not aligned with your infill direction, which is usually 45 deg. Have you done any input shaping? Running ShakeTune and generating graphs might help you find loose items on your printer that could be generating it.

Thanks for your time guys. Sorry for the delay, I have been busy with work. Your help is appreciated.
I will reply to your questions in thier own "threads".

Yes, nice spot. I think the seem was throwing me off. So that is a bit of misinformation on my part, I apologise. Yes the "bulge" seems to be more at the front and back of the cylinder, at about y-max and y-min.
I have done input shaping, my settings are:

[input_shaper]
shaper_freq_x: 87.2 # frequency for the X mark of the test model
shaper_freq_y: 62.2 # frequency for the Y mark of the test model
shaper_type_x: 3hump_ei
shaper_type_y: 2hump_ei

I will run the graphs and post them soon. Sorry I just have to run out.

Another thing that came to my mind was to print the square at 45deg, that way each side would match the actual A/B motor, so if you have any particular motor doing something strange, it would be easier to identify

Hi Spitz, Sorry I haven't posted. I haven't had a lot of time to tinker with this :(. However, I went to install the plug-in to run the tests, but naturally everything went wrong. I landed up having to upgrade from an older distro on my rpi. Pythin version hell. Then my backed up configuration files were corrupted. So I have to reconfigure everything. I'm short I am just having everything go wrong :). I have almost finished the reconfigure. I will definitely post when I have run the tool.
