Here's a questions for a dumb dumb, how is it normally mounted? RTV seems extreme but then again, so does a fire. XD

pine delta
lean panther
#

why not install the 180 or 125? seems ok-ish

fervent zephyr
#

They are +- 10C or 10% iirc

pine delta
# lean panther why not install the 180 or 125? seems ok-ish

125c is below my goal of 135c bed temp. 180c is above the thermostat in the heater which is 150c. So it would likely do nothing forever. Just like it’s currently wired. And with RTV that means I’ll not be removing that thermal fuse ever. I’d rather do it with the correct fuse when I’m ready to.

lean panther
#

thats fair, as an aside I thought thermal fuses do their own temp sensing

pine delta
#

The thermostat in the heater is like a self resetting fuse. So while the thermostat will shut off the heater at 150c. It will also turn the heater back on at 140c (just an example. I don’t know the specifications of the thermostat other than the temp it’s rated to turn off)

That's the one on printables?I like it. Where you get the sock/cage and what boatd

Would be nice on the 500 I'm building

pine delta

tardy tusk
#

Yeah, I knew who you were talking about

pine delta
#

Heh. I love tridents. The carto coil is ~58mm from the bed surface. Chamber top is right next to the camera there (camera outside chamber, chamber thermistor inside chamber), and chamber bottom is ~50mm from the bottom in the back left corner.

#

Oh. And I have no door. hehe

#

It's just a towel I draped over the front

#

🤣 . The HE fan just kicked on as well. Nice

pine delta
#

Chamber reached 60c with a towel door. 🤣. Steppers were enabled for ~1 hour as well and were only at 70c. Pretty sure I can safely increase drive current for them from 1a to probably 1.2a. Nice.

raw sorrel
#

It’s great until your carto gets to 125c and dies during a print

pine delta
#

I’ve never seen a carto get above 100c myself. As in. They never reach that temp. I even usually run 135c bed temps for the first layer to preheat the chamber faster.

raw sorrel
#

My chamber got to 75c and that thing died pretty quick. Carto ht is still in testing but it should be out soon ish. Currently using beacon and it runs quite a bit cooler than Carto

pine delta
#

Yea. Beacon is an eventual plan anyways. Cause of the mag bed thing. But it’s a long ways out.

pine delta
hollow hemlock
#

Looks like it came out quite good

pine delta
pine delta

@timid arrow This is what I meant by “I torture these shelves”. 🤣

#

Can't see in printer rn but webcam solves that. Lol. @dusk crest is right. Camera for monitoring is chefkiss even at a low resolution

pine delta
#

@hollow hemlock Door hardware ready to go! Now to just wait on the door to arrive. Probably Monday/tuesday cause I presume mandala doesn’t work weekends. Lol

pine delta
#

I now have everything ready for the door….. but I still have no door. 🤣

hollow hemlock
pine delta
#

Hmmm… I could do maglocks… the M8P can easily power those…

#

Hmmm. Dang. They aren’t typically only rated for 55c ambient temps. Lol. 70c goal chamber temp may melt them.

hollow hemlock
pine delta
#

I may even just make actual latches. Like friction ones.

raw sorrel
#

I used an externally mounted electromagnet for a little while. need to hardware control it though

#

otherwise if you have another process running you can't open the door

#

cabinet magnets work perfectly

hollow hemlock
#

I'm curious what your vibration mapping looks like. Been trying to figure mine out, cold and hot, and no nevermore = best results, but with, it varies hard core.

fervent zephyr

@pine delta maybe a little off topic, but what results did you get from running 2504s on PET-CF mounts for max current?

pine delta
pine delta
#

The door for this printer will be here today!

pine delta
jagged delta
pine delta
#

Fixed my belt tension and gained 2k accel on Y compared to before... This printer is breaking in perfectly apparently. (gonna redo with 5 scv and up to 200 on frequency)

pine delta
#

Not bad! I did increase APH to 100 as well. X could definetly use some work but I think I'll leave it there for now.

pine delta
#

Need to add one more top layer when doing infill this little clearly. And still need to tune the retractions. Or leave the spool in there while I print ABS next time 🤣

pine delta
#

Supports failed but are slowly recovering. chefkiss (also, what a perfect use of a long exposure photo. 🤣 )

pine delta
#

Door! I currently don’t have the latches or foam tape on yet but I love it!

#

Smoothest door I have ever used.

#

This door was so expensive and so nice that I have to agree with @modest plaza here and put the foam tape on the frame.

pine delta
open elm
#

damn nice!

#

#1434612830614585476 is gonna get a clicky clack door with glass panel thats gonna look chefkiss

pine delta
#

I thought about the clicky clack door but wanted something that didn’t stick out so far.

open elm
#

yea thats fair!

pine delta
#

Foam seal has been applied!

lean panther
#

Ooooh nice!

#

I like the frameless look :3

pine delta
#

There it is! Minus the magnetic catches I need to design to use magnets I have on hand anyways. I love it.

#

I’m gonna reuse the neodymium magnets from the magbed when I swapped them for SMCO. No magnet is needed on the door itself as I used carbon steel screws for the handles and the magnets will just attract those.

#

@violet sage I love the K3 door as well

#

Once I get those magnet holders made, printed, and mounted this printer will never see a lower temp filament than ABS again more than likely. I still need to install a PT1000 in the Goliath but I am kinda dreading doing that rn due to how hard it’s gonna be to do so.

pine delta
#

Door stays shut during printing without much issue! Hooray! And despite the 30k accel max in this thing (not the actual max just my max I planned on for it) it’s quieter than the X1C now with the door. Lmao.

pine delta
#

Just over 2 times faster than an X1C as well. Same print on it would take 3.1 hours. This only takes 1.4 hours. Lol.

bright aurora
pine delta

Hey @inland stratus . Quick question. How hard is switching ATSS AWD to 9mm belts? Do I just need different spacers and the additional bearings for the bearing stack? And of course pulleys and the other stuff. I’m just trying to decide if I should go ahead and change over or not.

pine delta
#

I can get the heater I want!

# pine delta Yes. Yes it does. 🤣

According to what I can find AMDs price equivalent the Ryzen 9 9950X3D (littlerally there current Best CPU) is only average about 22% faster for tasks like Fusion 360. While being 130W less and 30C cooler. Damn

#

Core Ultra 9 285K is Intels best Cpu. 250W max draw up to 15c Hotter. With a 17% improvement compared to your current

#

Though the Core Ultra 9 285K is cheaper lol

pine delta
bright aurora
pine delta
bright aurora
pine delta

It’s a very nice for all around everything. Throw fusion at it: takes a minute for giant operations but otherwise fine, throw blender at it: literally didn’t care. Lol, throw video games it: GPU is the bottleneck. Lol.

On the actual current topic, I was given an RTX Quadro 4000 that I'm going to replace with a 16GB 5060TI once my old PC sells

It’s the Neo g9 I want. https://a.co/d/jhd5Q1p Currently $1.5k actually. Lol

My current one is freaking heavy too. It hurts mentally to need to move it. Lol. These things aren’t cheap.

Gonna put a stealthmax S smart on this microwave I’ve decided.

bright aurora

Good lord that stuff is fumy
Always surprises me. The asa i use you can sometimes see it on the purge line but that is so much more

#

Curious, what do you print at temp wise?

pine delta
pine delta
pine delta
#

Took a moment and set the temp names better. C = Chamber, M = MCU, and if I ever have thermistors on the steppers they will be S = Stepper.

pine delta
#

Attempt one. Failed. Front left corner didn’t attach to the plate sadly. Think I really am gonna glue the plate for this print.

bright aurora
bright aurora
pine delta

I’ve mostly only printed full plates so far. So don’t need a ton of cooling. Especially in a 60c chamber.

bright aurora
pine delta
#

Kalico auto scales that though. So I’m using 30% from 0.15 to 1.0.

#

It makes 0.15 be 1% and 1.0 be 100%.

bright aurora

pine delta

bright aurora
bright aurora

bright aurora
# pine delta Lol. Yea. It's 242x242

Yeah that one machine i got that could fit that is the V2 300 but that hasn't booted yet since the one time I got it working the SD card was corrupted and when I tried to re do it the one reader I had broke and i haven't gotten a new one lol

#

But the V2 also has a Revo hotend and is just 24V sooo.
And also not Mine Mine just mine rn temporarily

#

The E5S1 is the closest. But if it was vertical the Delta would finish it fastest and was 22mm smaller lol

bright aurora

bright aurora
pine delta
bright aurora

Guessing no timelapse

pine delta
#

And this printer has run longer prints then it made it in this print

#

What was I doing at 7am?

bright aurora
#

By what I can find the only thing thats common with a Cb1 that does that is klipperscreen but that is usually from a idle timeout causing a surge for a moment or a "high-resolution" Webcam running a timelapse or shutting off and back on once every while

#

Or overheating getting close to the max where it has to thermal throttle once in awhile

bright aurora
pine delta
#

I might’ve used too much glue. 🤣

bright aurora
pine delta
#

Well. I’m discouraged right now. So probably not gonna go ahead and re-attempt this print right now honestly.

I bought that exact one from eBay. looks legit but haven't flashed yet

#

So cheap

pine delta
#

Well I still have no funds. So it’ll be a while. And I doubt I’ll order it this pay day.

pine delta
#

Here’s the plan @bright aurora . We’re gonna take the CM5 from Hexdent. I don’t use Hexdent much right now due to the whole PLA + Conduction = bad time situation. Gonna backup everything from the home folder on both printers to GitHub for safe keeping. Then flash a brand new sd card for Microwave 2.0 instead of overwriting anything. For backup purposes.

#

Hexdent will get a CM4 when I can order one in the future.

#

But the Microwave will get the nice CM5 for future longevity and reliableness.

pine delta
pine delta
bright aurora
#

Currently im trying to figure out why I cant get TPU to extrude consistenly for the life of me on my Delta.

#

Thinking that retraction might be on in the default tpu profile

pine delta
#

SD card is now flashing as well with legacy os lite. Bookworm for the CM5. Since shaketune currently doesn’t support trixie.

#

Also carto didn’t until the beta. Lol

#

Absolutely hammering storage media on my pc rn. Lmao. Good thing for the nice nvme ssd.

I’m thinking about getting whatever the cheapest NVME drives I can find are that are also 2TB each. Since I’ll be running them in raid it won’t matter if each drive is “slow” cause in raid it will be faster than my boot drive.

bright aurora
#

I dont think having all dooms installed at once helps

pine delta
#

I think I have Hexdent backed up in like 12 places now. 🤣

bright aurora
pine delta
#

I will need to also print a cm5 fan mount as well…. It will need more direct cooling than the cb1 needs.

#

I love copper heatsinks.

bright aurora
#

We need some of those fans that are actual Blade less fans for diy 3d printing. Gonna try to find them exactly rq

pine delta
#

Imma use the old vindr 3010 from Reaper CPAP for it I think. Has a tachometer and everything.

bright aurora
#

Yeah uh a Peizo electric fan there crazy

pine delta
#

X1C is booting up to print the fan mount.

#

Microwave 2.0 is on the floor again on its side for the first time in probably 30 print hours.

pine delta
#

Currently just waiting on the X1C to finish.

pine delta
#

WHY DOES KLIPPER TAKE SO LONG TO INSTALL?!

#

Stupid freaking TTC error… grumble grumble grumble

#

And I have to install it twice since I need to switch it to Kalico.

#

Also. Why is this 3010 louder than a freaking CPAP?! 🤣

pine delta
pine delta

It's alive again! At least software side anyways. Lol

#

And now the CM5 fan is PID controlled and has the RPM

and I fixed the bent gantry issue. Just retightened everything, swapped to new belts, and made sure the belts were equal length. Seems to have worked perfectly

pine delta

Hey @raw sorrel quick question. Is there anything stating that I can’t move the smooth idler 0.1mm closer to the drive gear for the extruder on UAP? I feel like it needs a little more squish.

I can't believe that fit... Lmao

#

May add 1 more mm to the diameter of it

#

That's better

I'll feel more confident with that

And not gonna move the smooth idler cause that will take too much effort. Lol

pine delta

start building printers for people

desert jetty

im 18 have been at the company for 1 year and im one of the highest paid on the shop floor

bright aurora

kinda what i want to do but not even for money just cuz i like building em and people need good printers

if you dont mind me asking what is minimum wage i mean also depends what state you are in im in ny and it is not cheap to live

desert jetty
desert jetty

ya you cant live off that in ny

#

like not close

#

thats poverty

bright aurora
pine delta

Current living wage here is $20/h. lolsob So yea. Still live with parents cause I literally can’t afford to move out.

desert jetty
#

i work my regular 40hour week in 4 days with alot of overtime and overtime is pay and half so not to bad

desert jetty
#

i just bought a house but i have over 1 year of work on it before i can move into it

pine delta

Still the same amount of hours. But more time at home

pine delta
desert jetty
pine delta
desert jetty

for me livable is $27.5 hour

desert jetty
pine delta
desert jetty

but realistically that is like $100 a month if you didnt commute 1hour

pine delta

If by savings. That’d be like $20.

#

The close by store is ~4 minutes by car, ~8 minutes by bike, ~30 minutes walking distance. Lol.

desert jetty

its also what you value your time at for that drive you know

pine delta

Heck yea! Much better camera resolution and framerate! Realized I have a CM5 so why not actually utilize it. Lol

If xiar is willing to apply for some manufacturing jobs I bet he would have a really good shot at making 10$ more an hour over Dunkin.

pine delta
pine delta

It dawned on me. Apparently when I reinstalled the CPAP tube I rotated it perfectly to no longer need to print a tophat to stop it from slapping the top panel. Score!

pine delta
# hollow hemlock Whatcha making?

Filament storage dowel holders. (Middle dowel is held down with a bungee to prevent spools from falling over). Needed something to hold the spools better because of the vibrations from Microwave 2.0 knocking things on my head off the shelf above. Lol. Still need to print at least 1-2 more sets I think but I need to get more dowels to finish it too.

First set of stealthmax parts sent to the printer!

pine delta

Newly discovered. Need to avoid 150mm/s. That’s an annoying sound. Lmao.

pine delta
#

That's not terrible. lolsob

#

Plate 5 will take 13 hours… that will be a true test of the microwave for sure. lolsob

#

@graceful bloom First off. comfy_wave Second. Have you printed Stealthmax yet? If so. How long for that carbon basket? (I seem to recall you talking about it at one point)

graceful bloom

i have not so i cant say

pine delta

its a while for shure lol

pine delta
foggy trail
#

Just the basket.

pine delta
#

Made me concerned I had my settings bad somewhere. lolsob

#

If you had said total I would’ve been very confused. Lmao

foggy trail
#

Also, I’d suggest switching to slicer painted supports on the lid piece. 3/4 attempts failed after 1 hour and 1/1 worked perfect with slicer support.

foggy trail
#

The big ring with bracket

#

I don’t see it in your plates yet.

pine delta
foggy trail
#

Everything should fit in a 250mm printer.

pine delta
#

That part does not fit on 250x242. Lol

#

X1C is my next biggest at 256x256. So it will fit there.

foggy trail
#

Rotate 45 degrees after the export?

pine delta
#

Tried that as well. Also didn’t fit. Lol

foggy trail
#

You did not want the flow chamber in [a]?

pine delta
foggy trail
#

Wow.

#

That is a short time.

pine delta
# foggy trail That is a short time.

Indeed. I pulled it out of the dryer once, got side tracked, threw to print in the microwave just 4 hours after pulling it out and it was wet again. Lmao. I’m buying a spool of gray next time.

#

Screw metallic colors. Lmao

foggy trail
#

You may want to enable the fan wire plug in your flow chamber export.

pine delta
#

Yea I saw that. I also saw a spare one in the stl list. I may just print the spare one to avoid any printing issues.

foggy trail
#

I hope the built in support works well for you on the flow chamber. Both prints I have done have had some detachment but it made a useable print. (They are stock)

pine delta
#

So far in prints I’ve done I haven’t had an issue with built in supports on anything. In theory. I only need the supports in the middle round area to survive. The front ones I think CPAP has enough power to bridge that gap.

#

We’ll find out Monday how it goes. Lol

#

Plates are named for when I feel I can print them without having to listen to the printer while I sleep. Granted it’s quieter than the X1C, I still don’t want to listen to it while I sleep.

pine delta
bright aurora
pine delta
bright aurora
pine delta
#

So satisfying to watch 27³ just screaming. Lol.

pine delta
#

I need to design a cover the screen… it’s pretty bright when the printer is just sitting idle.

bright aurora
pine delta
hollow hemlock
#

Timelaps is very cool and i want to post videos of prints and such, but given the quality degradation, feel like recording then popping it into an editor would be better. Mine can do stop motion/time laps. Though there is the file size issue with long prints

pine delta
#

@foggy trail For future reference. Stealthmax S holds ~1.5lbs of 4mm pellet carbon. 🤣

hollow hemlock
#

(just asking because i think i saw you went with something other than nevermore)

pine delta
#

It’s acid free and safe for printers.

hollow hemlock
#

Is it cheaper than nevermore stuff?

pine delta
foggy trail
#

Just email them.

pine delta
foggy trail
#

That should be the same/similar to scorch

pine delta
foggy trail
#

The mix ratio?

pine delta
pine delta
#

But I wanted it quickly.

foggy trail
hollow hemlock
pine delta
#

Then my phone died.

#

I'll try and print in the 50-60c range for now. Perhaps in the future I'll get scorch or whatevers similar

pine delta
foggy trail
#

I just did a 50:50 mix of my bag of filter food and filter food prime (DFH).

foggy trail
pine delta
foggy trail
#

The carbon is made in China though so that gets tariffs.

foggy trail
#

Where the product matters, not where it was shipped from.

pine delta
#

Plans for today. 1) Install stealthmax and get it powered somehow (I have no idea how I’m gonna get 12v other than to redo the firmware on the M8P to have a fan port stay always on and set to 12v) 2) Fix these stupid graphs 3) Perhaps make my first resonance post.

#

This didn’t work even one time back on the CB1… I can now load the webcam view on my phone via mainsail. I am also at work so tailscale ftw.

pine delta
#

Never underestimate a $1 knife. 🤣. Cut right through the ACM. Lmao.

#

Quick test for before going on the printer. Absolute perfection.

pine delta
#

But. Got the Stealthmax installed!

#

Right on the side of the printer where I said it was gonna be. Lol

hollow hemlock
hollow hemlock
pine delta
#

My only concern now is that something may up with the sensors. Perhaps swapped by accident somehow. Or something else. Cause this is during calibration period and according to the docs should be around 100 in the end.

#

And I feel like that should be reading roughly the same when no fan is on and it’s just sitting idle.

pine delta
hollow hemlock
hollow hemlock
hollow hemlock
#

Even when the system has no basket and fans off

pine delta
hollow hemlock
hollow hemlock
pine delta
pine delta
hollow hemlock
#

I think I noticed with mine, just over use, that sometimes the values when idle can be strange especially when I first had it set up

pine delta
#

I’m gonna run the checkpoint command here in a bit and run a print. I know from reading the docs it’s constantly calibrating when not printing and doesn’t restart calibration until ~15 minutes after a print finishes.

pine delta
hollow hemlock
hollow hemlock
pine delta
pine delta
hollow hemlock
pine delta
#

And the filter itself ofc.

pine delta
#

I wonder if I have them swapped somehow...

#

Need to take out the carbon and blow on the exhaust one to find out

hollow hemlock
pine delta
hollow hemlock
pine delta
# hollow hemlock Very odd..

Looking at most of the pics in the nevermore server it seems that the larger VOC index value is consistently on the right... But that doesn't make sense to me since that would be the exhaust which should be cleaner...

#

It does seem to be working though!

#

Seems as though only the values on top are swapped. Which is weird

hollow hemlock
pine delta
hollow hemlock
#

So air quality might actually be better, but given the volume of air might be the issue

pine delta
#

Okay. My chamber is definetly hotter than the thermistors are reading...

hollow hemlock
pine delta
#

Cute little flexi stitch print.

hollow hemlock
hollow hemlock
hollow hemlock
# pine delta Same. Lmao

LOL, for christmas, along with some tools, I got stitch earbuds, PJ pants, and a little stitch light thing. XD

pine delta
#

Oh yea! @hollow hemlock The Stealthmax has a serial now! SMS.018!

hollow hemlock
lean panther
#

Only 18 cereals?

pine delta
foggy trail
#

Also, not many build the S. I have SMS.17 on #1317678719485083748 and it has been many months since a serial was issued.

pine delta
hollow hemlock
pine delta
#

OH! In good news now! I can finally run the Goliath at its full flow if I want to! I needed to wear in the UAP as it was a little rough for the extruder to turn. After a few prints it’s back to its full function! Purging at 25mm/s is hilarious.

#

~60³ flow

wheat cave

And there's me happy with 18hehe

You must have cat like reflexes when watching that🥰

pine delta
pine delta
# wheat cave Ohhhhj🤭

There’s also a reason Hexdent has had to have an emergency stop switch replaced…. You wouldn’t imagine the reaction timing you need to stop a printer that does 1200mm/s at 70k accel when it just skipped a step because you forgot to mechanically sync the motors. 🤣

pine delta
# wheat cave Oooooooo😬

That was the same time Hexdent ejected a rail stop across my room… it was a rail stop mounted by hammer head t nut in the extrusion. It was at that point I realized that thing is barely touching its maximums. Lmao

Not really what I want. I want a printed toolhead. Easier and cheaper for me.

ionic atlas

I honestly strongly recommend an SLM option for the toolhead @pine delta it is so incredibly important to have a strong, rigid toolhead. Unless you only plan to print at sub 200mm/s, in which case, ball out my friend, ball out

pine delta

@soft zenith Personally. I'm currently happy with Y. But not X

#

At some point I'll figure out what's going on here

lean panther
#

@whole dew

pine delta
#

Huh. After calibrating sync motor's I have now 3 times in a row gotten results below 1k magnitude. Nice

soft zenith
#

Ayee, so what if I where to just get two more matching moons 17's with round shafts for ease of syncing?

pine delta
soft zenith
#

And wiring it up, I'm sure if I upped the run current on the stock drivers, they could each run two motors. But I don't think that's a great way to go about it

#

But that's how dual z used to be done and you sync them up once and as long as they stay aligned they aren't bad

pine delta
#

If you’re currently using 2209 drivers 2 more won’t cost much.

soft zenith
#

Yeah that's the drivers I'm running

pine delta
#

v2 with a toolhead board should have enough driver slots in the mainboard to run 8 motors.

#

vT can run without a toolhead board and still only need 8 drivers.

soft zenith
#

So the kit is like $13, I need belts that's like $20-25, I'd really want to get a CNC carto mount, that's like $20 I'm only missing the driver's, motors and wires

pine delta
soft zenith
#

M8p 2.0 has plenty of extra slots

soft zenith
pine delta

pine delta

pine delta

Sure for 20lb of tension then printed might fail easily

But for everyone else printed works fine

pine delta

My only printer with a metal carriage is Hexdent however that’s because the entire toolhead is metal cause conduction hotend. Lol
