obligatory printed parts jar
I'm early in the process but trust me it'll be great
oh that's a nice purple! what filament is that?
esun purple abs
Last voron I built was a black frame, esun abs+ grey primary and purple accent. Came out looking great, I like that purple color.
just be aware that esun abs+ might not hold up so well in modern hot chambers.
I know a lot of people had bad things to say about esun abs+ (mostly regarding layer adhesion I think), but I've really had no issues with it, including both Voron 2.4's I've built with it, so 🤷
Ooh another build log from you! I'm looking forward to your colorful commentary
this isn't the ABS+, it's plain old abs, a bitch to print!
haha thanks! I had a blast building my first one
it is here
(the v0 is under the towels for abs print)
@fickle hound thinks it's funny, and the new bed levelling routine makes prints better!!!!
pog
What's the white filament?
generic glow in the dark abs
HAHA CHECK IT OUT 0 WARPING
I think I have enough parts to start assembly!
I should get some more IPA to properly clean the rails and subsequently re grease them
RECTANGULAR PRISM!!
gonna stop here for tonight so I can properly clean and grease the rails
not letting the exhaustion set it and ruin my progress
i cannot bear this
isopropyl alcohol bath for the dirty bearings
oh o.o I thought you shouldn't take the carriage off
good spot to end tonight
you shouldn't bc you may cause the bearings to pop out
I put so much grease it holds them together
I love these little jigs
I mean it doesn't hurt, but given how often and far the tap rail travels you could probably go without any lubrication for decades before wearing anything out.
Might as well
I did end up doing it
mmmm feet
I'm loving the colour scheme, but I need to print more parts
tomorrow™
Wow that's really quite aestetically pleasing
And it even looks cool when it's not glowing
thank you! I'm really excited for it
having a hard time printing the larger pieces on my v0
I leveled the bed but it's still having severe issues
v0 issues resolved,I'll resume printing parts tomorrow
yippee
another day another part!
THR JAR FILLS ONCE AGAIN
gonna make so much progress this weekend
gonna be slappin
I just ordered mine yesterday. I can’t wait to start working on mine. I wanna practice inserting the brass inserts
if you can, get a dedicated iron tip for it, I find they like to cling to the iron if it's a soldering tip
smth like this
it's hanged
Ok cool. Yeah I have a Weller 1010
Punished as an example to keep the other parts in line?
I have one of those heat insert tips on a leftover soldering iron (one of those "just the iron" without a base thing), but I always misplace that somewhere and usually just end up using a regular-tipped soldering iron (a soldering station that doesn't flee my workbench as easily).
I'm used enough to it that I find it easy enough and it even gives me a bit more control being able to pull it out a bit if it has gone in a little bit too far. Having it stick to the iron means it doesn't fall off when I don't want it too, and I just have to give it a little twist to have it come loose when it is in its proper place.
it's simply incredible, how do you keep your gantry up?
https://media.tenor.com/aePtKCYCNSAAAAAM/travis-scott-belt.gif
also, get squared, idiot
tomorrow I'll start printing tap parts
What’s going on with the belt in those pics?
How’d you go about squaring the frame
it's folded like the manual says
followed the advice in the video that's linked in the manual
fucking damnit my heater broke again
Heater?
Oh damn
second time it happened too😭
what's breaking on it?? usually it should last thousands of hours unless its physical damage o.o
Heaters seem to often be very fragile, both the dead ones I've taken apart it was a wire that had broken where it entered the "canister".
i haven't touched it, it literally quit mid print lmaoo
looking nice
fancy
so quick update: the umbilical of the mini printer is still not happy :( new one on the way
new parts scheduled to be here this week!!!!
PARTS! ARE! HERE!
LILYVORON IS FIXED
yay!
parts are gonna be printed soon™
I think I'm gonna do the tool head 100% purple
or should I do the outer shell w the glow?
Or, do most parts as purple except the front plate of the CW2 so there's a bit of glow between the rear CW2 plate and the SB cover
Glow SB shell would be pretty cool too
Or make just the latch glow, as long as it'll be strong enough
Have you tested how much this glowy filament lights up with a little bit of uv light on it?
I think I agree with cat40, having the whole front face be glowy might be a bit much, but a bit of glow behind/around it could look really neat.
it glows very brightly
I like that, that's what I'll do
yippee!
angry discord icon
I love my small voron's levelling probe
PHOTODUMP TIME
Very nice looking.
SB printing time, wish me luck everyone!
I've decided to go with 100% purple this time
for the head
welcome to part hell
Did you print those purple pieces yourself?
Looks great!
yes
thank u
thanks!
sorry for the lack of progress I've been hella busy w work
oooooo! nice board choice!
what filament are you using?
eSun purple ABS
not abs+, plain abs
gonna go for seonsorless, putting this here for my future reference:
Why’d you use the manta board?
My guess would be...
Solid proven board with lots of options and support (as its been around for a bit)
Cb1 control module so no pi needed and an all on one board configuration
Non integrated steppers for easy upgrade
Price
that, and it's what I have already, I'm going with a formbot kit but off guide and pre-modding it lmao
am I dumb or should these match up red to red black to black
Probably... Though iirc my formbot kit had some fans with the wire colors reversed. What part is that?
unlabeled, I am using it for the CAN connector since it's too short
get wiring managed, idiot
motors not connected since the gantry needs squaring again
Then yeah, I would think they'd line up
I swapped them :)
I freaking love that purple
me too!
Woop woop, getting closer🥰
got purple cable ties!!
zip tie reveal
Like they came off the same production line
it's the Lily way, purple everything
tryna figure out how to route this can cable, it's far too long and with the light installed I don't have a good way to route the cable
current route idea, I don't like it
honestly might go with 2 separate power and can line to not have a thick cable, it looks like it's just an xt60 and some DuPont connector jammed into one
my bad,xt30
I'd have a hard time getting things to be as neat as it is w one cable
You could use something like https://www.printables.com/model/1339854-voron-24trident-umbilical-passthrough-exhaust-cove and pass the can cable in the back. also, no purple cable sleeve ?
I have one of these printed!!! thinking of how to make the hole in the filter housing on the exhause
I'm indecisive lmao
I need to print the pugs to hold the guy
this filter ?
If you install a cover, I wouldn't install the housing
how come?
I've never use it, but it suppose to be a air filtration/exchange thingy. The printed cover will stop any air movement.
if you want a filter, I would look at nevermore or the filter. It will clean the air and keep the hot air inside you printer.
https://www.printables.com/model/1171067-split-voron-exhaust-cover-with-bowden-and-pug-umbi
this guy gets it
appears to also have the USBC cable, i presume that's for easier programming
should i go with or without USB?
can use the usb slot to pass through a beacon or cartographer usb cable; atleast that is why I used it for on mine
it is a bit of a pain to screw the two halves together though
They look a lot like the ones I got. I bought a big bag of cheap zipties assorted colours, for some aesthetically pleasing cable management on a few printers (purple and light grey for one I was building for a friend, and blue and radioactive green for my printers). Some of the colours were of some really substandard plastic and would break all the time, but at least the purple one worked just fine.
ty for the heads up!
they were cheap and from AliExpress, the few I tried out seemed nice if a bit stretchy
I probably wouldn't use them for anything "structural", but for tying up cables you generally don't want things all that tight anyway.
There were some yellow ones that would break even too easily for that, and I just threw those away. The purple and grey ones came out nice though.
using them to tidy the can cable and filament guide tube
I may add a nozzle cam
I think they're really funny
oh god why is it nearly 7 hours lmao
Looks like you should, yes. The umbilical shouldn't really be longer than it needs too to reach the furthest point (a front corner at z=0) without being too tight. It still often tends to get in the way when you're at high z.
If you don't feel like cutting and recrimping the cable you can bunch it up along the back panel or something. It's always good to have a little bit of slack for later adjustment or if you change the layout somehow.
thank you!
I printed the 6mm corner brackets, but they feel too big on the rear panel, even w the foam
esp since the exhaust cover seems like it covers less
did i print the wrong parts?
get stiffened, idiot
I've use the 6mm clip from this repo with my v2: https://github.com/Annex-Engineering/Annex-Engineering_User_Mods/tree/main/Printers/All_Printers/annex_dev-Panel_2020_Clips_and_Hinges, they are nicer for tinkering. But honestly, just test the clip you printed with the panel: install 2 clip an slide the panel, it should fit without any play
yooo compliment mechanisms! I love compliment mechanisms!
https://www.printables.com/model/501237-improved-voron-stealthburner-filament-runout-senso
might implement this
I got the same Annex Engineering panel clips, and I love them. Couldn't stand having to deal with unscrewing little screws just to pop a panel off, which happens a lot at the beginning and often enough (for me) later that it gets rather annoying. I was recently made aware the clips for the Voron 2.2 were of a similar design with a printed little key, and I think it actually looks better (not super fond of that "exoskeleton" annex look) but I can't be bothered to reprint them.
https://github.com/VoronDesign/Voron-2/tree/Voron2.2/STLs/VORON2.2/Panel_Mounting/Front_Panel_Quick_Release
I went with the 4mm and 6mm annex clips for the "thin" and "thick" foam tape and it seemed to fit just right though may require some adjustment for slightly different thickness panel/tape. It doesn't squeeze them very tightly, just holds it in place enough that it can't rattle about. Also not having them too tight means I can just pop off a couple of them and slide the panel out without having to reach for the clips in the back.
Your build is looking epic girl🫶
Keep up the good work
thank u!
I suspect the PUG will class w the ceiling at the full 300mm :(
and it appears that the SB clashes w the front top bar at max height
purgle?
purgle!
https://www.printables.com/model/882364-new-version-adjustable-gantry-mounted-nozzle-seal
yummy purge and clean, probs good ideal for the tap
also thinking of setting up top hat for the full 300mm
this would be cool
im sure there will be that one time youll need it😉
I've printed something exactly once on my 300mm 2.4 that was tall enough for the umbilical and ptfe tube to start doing weird things up against the ceiling, and that was PLA so I could just take the panel off.
I honestly wonder if it could be possible to make a ptfe tube with wires in built to reduce the umbilical thickness even more
bc there's like 5 cm between the ptfe tube and the can board and I worry it'll behave funny
There was some printer (I think from Artillery, some fairly regular bedslinger) that had a toolhead cable with a ptfe tube in the middle and wires around it and some fancy custom connector for it. Looked nice, but probably impossible to replace once the bowden is worn out.
Artillery Hornet was the one.
On mine, the weight of the umbilical makes the whole bundle just tilt fairly neatly to one side, and it works well when the thing is moving around. When it's higher up, it basically just lays flat under the top panel.
panels are up! I'm just lazy lmao
YAY!
when?
kinda wanna get/print some castors for it
That would be cool😋
Not sure if IS would like them though
I'll get locking ones!
They do locking ones???!!!!
I need to come out from under my rock more often
V0 on caster wheels🤣
1" diameter
So close🥰
first thing I'll print is more skirt pieces
I'm lazy but I should do the config writing thing
wym buddy
why too much current
who hurt u
i think the wiring harnesses are incorrect with this kit, the Z motors are all going down when up is desired, and X and Y just give the short to supply error
rEEEEE
on the upside, we got life and CAN
for the Z motors you can probably fix that in the config. Will you share a picture in the dark ?
That generally means you have some wires swapped on your motor. You can either ohm out your motor to find the coils and look up your board's wiring or you can yolo it and sway the wires and try again (it shouldn't hurt anything)
For z just invert the dir pin in the config
i was far too tired to think of act on this , I'm now awake and will soon fix this
dark mode photo incoming, I'll blast the thing w UV to show the glow in the dark parts
so it seems the coil layout on the headers is correct
Hoping you get it sorted soon🫶
Lookin snazzy💜
some funny textured PEI, supposedly the pattern transfers to the first layer
the overhead light amplifies the holographic effect so hard
man I'm EXCITED
I need another filament dryer
xD
gonna run a few test prints and print some fun things (holographic door hinges)
That plate look awesome. A great fit for your build!
Will you use the stock skirt ? or one of the honeycomb one ?
I really need to get a spool of glow in the dark filament.
likely stock :) I like the aesthetic
it's time
dark photo
door time
thank you. It's so cool!
the glow filament is exactly what I wanted it to
you didn't print any part of the stealthburner in glow filament, did you run out ?
purely stylistic choice, I have more glow
but I wanted the LEDs to be the main glowing bit on the tool head
am I funny yet?
8hr print time
Where did you find these belts?
that's the neoprene lining on them, I just got them from AliExpress
Do they have other colours?
Love the way they tie in with your colour scheme🥰
no, but if you really wanted colours you could go with a white belt and dye it
but white belts only come with steel wire reinforcement
which sucks
bc it stretches
Yeah ive eyed those up a few times
Its a shame because white is exactly what im after
for some reason nobody makes them w kevlar/fiberglass reinforcement
Yeah ive scoured the net but no joy
Mabe one day it will happen
Really fucking nice work
tyyy
tomorrow I'm gonna print a bunch of parts in glow, we'll see how well this SiC nozzle handles abrasive materials
also I'm just really happy I can use the full print bed on this thing without a second thought
What nozzle do you have
phaethus SiC nozzle in a rapido 2 setup
SKIRT TIME!
I need to figure out a display mount option
I just printed a shell for it but I want a tiltable mount(the one I found doesn't fit in this stock config)
I must say that the glow white adds that touch of class to that fantastic purple
Very nicely done🎉
ty! I like it lots!!
I had never heard of this nozzle before thanks, seems like a similar concept to obxidian nozzles, but cheaper, I’m really curious as to how it prints
pretty good so far!
we're done
:3
(not really since I still need to print the nevermore and install it)
but this thing is beautiful, rock solid, and 100% mine
I'm superbly happy with it
I think it's time for it to go on the under bed desk
I love it so much
OH HELL YEAH THIS LOOKS SICK AS FUCK
glow filament was a good choice
Well shoot, looks like I need to make some changes to my printer....
Glow in the dark parts looks sick
thank you!!!!! I love this so much it's fucking gorgeous
thank you
glow!!!
excellent!
I've just realized, I've never install the bottom panel on my 2.4. Don't tell Sanity 😛
if I ping her, she'll see my really cool voron build
but I'll keep quiet bc I'm nice
ilo li wawa :3
mi e olin ilo li wawa
my toki pona is hella rusty lmaooo
saaaaame
also toki Pona spotted in the wild
yesss :>
toki pona klipper language setting when
omg
toki pona fluidd & mainsail translations when
(i do NOT want to imagine how fucking verbose those UIs would have to be jesus christ.)
a while back I wrote a funny toki Pona CPP comparability thingy and I have an Arduino running a blink sketch written in toki pona
You put it on once for completeness, then you leave it off for easy access...
ITS FUCKING TIME
THE NEVERMORE IS INSTALLED AND FUNCTIONAL
WE HAVE A PRINTER
A FULL VORON
no loose wires, everything nice and managed, bottom panel installed
I am content
[complete] Introducing! LilyVoron 2!!!
I love this printer it's solid as fuck
It looks slick AF too lol.
I really like my 2.4. Though... I really need to print more XD
I haven't done much PLA, would love to know what your thoughts on it are on the 2.4.
pls is solid, I've never had issues with it
the printer is built like a tank, I have a rapido v2 on it
I was able to go decently fast, but I also switch out the fan for one of the berserker fans.
with a SiC nozzle
Oooo, that's the one I was considering switching to in the future maybe. (I have revo right now)
it's great
I like it bc it has a tasty v6 socket
dirt cheap nozzles :D
cooling def lacks for that boat snoot, but it's p cute how fast it goes
the fans are the loudest part of this lol
Honestly the nozzles are probably the main reason why I'd change. I think for the most part revo has been okay with flow, though I can see some spots lacking at like 270mms with some ABS I've used.
I will say though, thus far, the revo brass has been holding up quite well even with simi abrasive material
the whole bs proprietary nozzle is exactly why I'm not on revo
I've printed so much abrasive glow abs on this poor machine
It came with my kit, which is why I have it. But they go on sale frequently enough and price wise, considering the more material, and all that I so far haven't been too angrey about it. Though that being said right now I'm more focused on learning CAD and stuff so that will likely change when I'm printing more frequently
I presume, glow ABS is quite abrasive?
That's always good XD.
yeah, glow in the dark materials are super abrasive
I can get 10 brass nozzles for the cost of one revo nozzle lmao
like you can't beat that
wawa ! ! !
I think it's a bit hot
Ah, gotcha. I have one of the high temp high flow abrasion resistant nozzles I got for christmas. Yet to use it (it's a .6 I think). Need to get my hands on some glow in the dark or glitter or something.
What brand glow are you using?
That is the very nice thing I noticed when I started looking around. My 2.4 is my first and only printer so I didn't know much, but I imagine the brass quality is different.
Like is it brass or "brass" with extra stuff to make it tougher lol. 😂
Just a smidge toasty lol.
not too bad though. If you keep the SB and plan on doing more PLA, at least with the little testing I did the berserker fan on 100 did well. But I suspect you have way more knowledge than I do XD
overture glow from Amazon, had to respool it bc it was cardboard
Oh wow, the price aint that bad. I usually get Ambrosia lol.
Did you use one of those spooles like Bambu uses or just an old spool and a respooler ?
old spool and a skateboard
I just use a little spool insert on the ambrosia to dry and whatnot
Ohhhhhhh gotcha, I was thinking of ways you could do it with like a normal skateboard lol
Was like "are the wheels even close enough to support the spool
Hey, just got linked here by a nice soul - Currently planning on building a micron, I'm running out of color schemes and like the idea of glow in the dark - did you notice anything about the glow in the dark material acting weird?
no issues as far as I can tell, it seems just as strong as the purple
Lovely to hear, thank you
Did you find any other manufacturers/glow in the dark colors? In europe I only found spectrum glow in the dark green
no, this is just generic Amazon glow abs
Is that glow ABS still going pretty good? @frozen shuttle
Yup! No issies
